eVisa uploaded docs issue
Helping a mate do a 60-day TR eVisa online from the UK. The wrong file got picked for the flight info and hotel info got uploaded instead. The yellow edit button allows me to upload the correct file, but the blue view button doesn't open up the file viewer to see if the correct file is in place. It just sits wiith the blue dots going in a circle. Since their website gives a new file name to whatever is uploaded, one can't tell if it replaced the wrong one either. Before we go ahead and pay for the application, just wondering if it is editable or just bin the application and start over. Thanks NL

Residents refusing to pay maintenance in gated village.
I rented a villa on the "dark side" that had transitioned from developer to home-owner's association (HOA) in the months prior to my lease. I observed that involvement was slow (as usual) but garbage collection was the first service to be withdrawn from the few homes that weren't willing to pay for the service. Some of the cheapskates, a mix of Thai and farang, would rather remove their waste using their own vehicles or pay a third party to come and collect it rather than pay the community fees. When the HOA opted to install a full-service 24-hour security system with a card-activated barrier, the 'lock-out' got easier to enforce but I did see a local resident in a late model BMW trying the 'do you know who I am?' malarkey with the guard. The HOA needs to engage with a lawyer and have legal protections. For example, posting the names of the non-compliant home-owners is a fast-track to defamation charges, whereas identifying the delinquent properties by house number or more anonymously as red-colored blocks on a map of the village is more difficult to challenge while havuing the same effect, ie. "We know who you are".

Foreign “managers” on soi 6
Yes, the occupation of being "In business for myself in Thailand" lends absolutely nothing to one's curriculum vitae.

Would YOU watch HIS bag on the beach?
Where does this paradigm exist in Thailand?

Would YOU watch HIS bag on the beach?
Sorry, but have you nothing else better to do (to use your words)? Where was his OP shown as a "hot topic"? Today, the thread popped up in the column of Popular Posts on the right-hand side of the home page. Hope this helps.

Foreign “managers” on soi 6
Has there been a recent surge in the amount of farang 'managers' on Soi 6? When I frequented the soi over ten years ago, there were only maybe 2 or 3 bars that had such. If so, maybe it's part of a certain entertainment group's market penetration (pardon the pun).

Don Mueang flight carrying Thai singer makes emergency landing after engine explosion
I wonder why? Truly, is knowing this even relevant?

Buying shop/business unit with land under OK?
The same rule applies to any and all Thai land in that a farang cannot own it. Maybe the owner will cooperate with creating ownership via a usufruct?

Unusual hotel check in
I have had hotels check for the entry/exit stamps. I have had hotels that don't bother to look at the passport. I think between your experience and mine, that about covers the Thailand hotels and farang passports debate, no? WRT the OP, maybe the hotel manager or owner is the only one inputting passport info to the immigration database. If they're not around, the receptionist may be only permitted to 'collect' the info via the photo and share that with the manager or owner. Quicker than filling in a card and all that old-fashioned nonsense.

CAn Foreigner get Tax number and do first ever return online , if not how please?
Correct. From previous threads on simply obtaining a TIN (and not inspired by this tax panic), it appears that Revenue Department offices that are familiar with processing either foreign workers or those that are retired or married and only require one to satisfy their overseas bank, are easier to deal with. My experience a few months back in Udon Thani started well with everyone saying 'can' until I got passed to the woman-in-charge who decided I needed to file a Thai tax return FIRST with all the evidence needed to support it such as bank statements and only AFTER paying any tax owed, she would give me the TIN. Manwhile, threads have reported of it taking less than an hour at (say) a Pattaya RD office with no faff and no need to pay anything (yet).

Pattaya 7-eleven Stamps

CAn Foreigner get Tax number and do first ever return online , if not how please?
How do you think that happened? Did you, your employer or agency forget to ask if you already had a yellow book or pink ID card when sorting out your job, or did you fail to mention it to the local revenue office? I would assume it's very easy for 'duplicate' ID's to be issued when there's no sharing of databases, and the RD haven't bothered with this regulation for many years already.

Some "gullible" member who is Thailand tax resident may jump in on this last page, see your comment and incorrectly take it at face value. Having said that, I agree that there's really nothing to panic about at the moment. Just pay attention to what happens in the New Year.

This is correct. If applying for a Thai Tax ID Number and you are already have been issued a yellow book and/or pink ID card, you should advise your local revenue office of this when you make the application so they use the same number. As far as I know, having a yellow book/pink ID card does not mean this information will be shared automatically with the RD.

That all foreign transfers into Thailand will be subject to levies after 1st Jan 2024. ...if you are tax-resident in Thailand.

If your pension is the ONLY source of income you remit to Thailand, you don't have to do anything.

Motorbike: Pattaya to Korat City
If he's breaking the journey into two or three stages, it's feasible. If he's an experienced rider who is also aware of the hazards of driving in Thailand, even more so.

Bangkok Bank app PITA setup when using a new phone
Here's the final fix.

Locked out of Bangkok Bank bualuang banking app (overseas)
As expected, the waiting room was full at the mall branch of Bangkok Bank this morning, so I went the ATM reset route. Worked as advertised, where I selected a new 4-digit temporary password and confirmed my mobile phone number. I was sent a username (same as the original BuaLuang username as before) and using the new temporary password I was able to access the app, change the password, configure my app login, delete the dead phone before going inside and taking a queue number for debit card renewal. That was reasonably quick (once I got served), signing off on five preprinted forms, reconfirming my PIN and leaving with a new 5-year debit card. No offers or request for insurance cover either. I couldn't update the passport information, as that can (still) only be done at the branch where the account was opened. The ATM iBanking/mBanking reset meant I had to log in to BuaLuang online after I got home using the same username and the temporary password. It then asked for a new, longer password so I recycled the one it had previously. Accepted and all sorted. Not too challenging, and you have three days after doing the ATM reset to do all the above on smartphone and/or PC/laptop. Still a total ball ache if one's phone or app goes tits-up while travelling outside Thailand.

Change in the tax law does target expats living in Thailand and extends reporting obligations
Access to Thailand's immigration database will enable the RD to do its job. Fundamentally the same methodology used by the more clever and sophisticated western nations to keep tabs on their tax delinquents.

Soi 6 girls are too well fed
Last I heard, come an evening, Soi 6 is chock-full of the nouveau, thirty-to-fortyish, shaven-headed 'hansum man' and the loud club and rap crap that defines their tortured existence (you know who you are). It is no longer the domain of the afternoon silverhair or combover sexa- septuagenarian monger looking for a short time (you know who you are too).
