How to deal with an overwhelmingly negative opinion of Thai people.
You only wai up not down, if you are wai ing all and sundry first it makes you look ridiculous in Thai eyes. He said "wai a little" and you go off about wai etiquette as if you like the locals and know their culture.

I would say I live "slightly" more on the wealthy side, after 42 years worldwide travelling as consultant and a day rate you might never have dreamed about... My pension is safe, so I didn't not want to suffer a retirement at the stone table, loading off daily emotional garbage or as bar owner receiving lots of daily emotional garbage... Where do you fit in between these two? I was responding to the OP actually but thanks for the FIGJAM sharing.

AIS data-only package
My experience a few years back with AIS's un-advertised online code grabbing was that the best-value ones were limited in quantity/availability. First come, first served and their 'EN' page would give a generic 'network error' flag when sold out so, like the first version of Thai Immigration's online exercise, you never knew if it was you or them.

i beg your pardon???? seems a little presumptuous who gives proton red hearts when its anonymous dont u think? kinda like the way you presume app thais are great. both are completely wrong! Oops, I meant @Pouatchee of course. No idea what "presume app thais" means either. Still haven't quantified your mileage in Thailand either. Triggerd.

Get a grip @proton, you're getting big red hearts from the OP.

So you can't answer a simple question 'dude'? That's fine.

AIS data-only package
From their app on the phone which I understand is similar to AIS's app in that offers can be selective and based on your usage. I checked last month to see if there's was anything cheaper. I've been with DTAC maybe 5 or 6 years.

AIS data-only package
I've found AIS to be the most "consistent", especially when I head overseas and need short-term data roaming. I also carry DTAC voice/data in slot 2 on the phone as a backup. DTAC's cheapest data add-on works out at ~300 baht/month. Both AIS and DTAC is fine. Anything but TRUE (for now).

AIS data-only package
I have something like that in my office. I'm happy to pay ~150 baht/m for that so maybe I just get myself another one for the dongle and not worry about it for a year.

How long have you lived in this blighted realm? I mean actually lived full-time and excluding any previous vacations, 2-week millionaire stopovers and other non-enlightening events? You sound like a disenchanted noob (with issues).

AIS data-only package
There is a USSD code(*788*5517#), but it’s doubtful if it still works. At around that price point only annual SIM offer unlimited data officially. Though there is always a chance that an old USSD code might still work. Yes, it's a pretty dynamic market but I would need to get a SIM first. My lad wants to go to Central this afternoon so I may bite the bullet and drop by the AIS store and see what they can offer me. Maybe with evidence of my current voice/data prepaid of over 18 years standing, they may conjure up a "special" for me.

I did and I struggle to see why a few locals moving out of your space "hurts" you so much.

Visit from Immigration today. TM.30
Weird sense of humor there but in all honesty, why bother? When their published rules, laws and regulations include the all encompassing "and anything else that the officer may require", trying to tell them they're either incompetent or deceitful is not really a winning strategy.

Why does a pissant island have more than one immigration office? (rhetorical)

AIS data-only package
As far as I can tell, it's available as an add-on to my long-standing AIS service. I haven't been able to find anything similar 'standalone' on their website. The website is a bit of a challenge as some pages don't have 'EN' option available and a few of them that do, being their online purchase portal, throw up a "Thai citizens only" page when you select 'EN'.

AIS data-only package
I have an O2 (UK) branded 3G dongle that I last used a few years ago with a prepaid AIS SIM. I used it mainly as a wifi hotspot in the truck and would like to do that again. What's the recommended and most economical data SIM for this? I use AIS's 90 baht/month unlimited 2Mbps add-on package on my regular prepaid voice/data SIM in my phone and it's adequate for my internet usage, email, streaming radio, etc., so wondering if they have something similar in a data-only package. I know I can hot-spot my phone but I'm looking for something a bit more autonomous for family and other passengers to use. Thanks! NL

Yes, you do have a problem with the locals. Note I said that YOU have a problem and NOT the locals.

Immigration officer complaining about my visa exemption
For the OP, when he gets the Retirement Visa/Extension that he's entitled to. Why create a problem when it isn't necessary?
