  1. I just can't see what all the fuss is about if I want a larger amount than a ATM will give I go in the bank with passport and bank book. I haven't had time to visit the holding branch of my Bangkok Bank account, some 630 km distant so when it came to transferring a larger amount than 50k last week, I used their Bua Luang online (computer/laptop) method.
  2. Out of date. Speed 3 is no longer. Last updated: May 26th, 2023
  3. This looks like it could be handy. For my locale, it shows AIS leads TRUE with DTAC a close third. NT looks like a bit of a black hole. https://www.nperf.com/en/map/TH/-/3379.TOT-Mobile/signal/?ll=13.152388677984096&lg=101.49499999999998&zoom=5
  4. I did try 4G only but still couldn't pick any bands, says they are not available. Rebooted too, same same, band 28. I'll try the band select a few times and see if it picks up anything. EDit: Yup, that did it thanks. Took longer to search but eventually displayed maybe half-a-dozen band choices.
  5. I have a DTAC already in the MR-600 which is v2. Had a look at the Status and the Band displayed was "40,40". That was with the SIM installed as-is, no previous tweaks. I had a look at the WAN settings and tried the manual band selection, just to see how that works and it said there was none available. Went back to the Status and it now displays band 28. The TP-Link support page says: Note: The band selection is for the 4G network, if the 4G band you selected is not supported by your carrier, it might fall back to the 3G network or no service at all. If the band displayed on the Status page still changes sometimes after you select one band manually, please check if it falls back to WCDMA which is the 3G network, if so, it is normal. If you are sure the 4G signal in the area is strong and stable, you could change the Network Mode from 4G Preferred to 4G only on the Advanced > Network > Internet page. For LTE CAT 4 Routers like TL-MR100, TL-MR6500v, etc., they don’t support carrier aggregation, thus they could only work on one single band even though you selected multiple bands; For LTE CAT6 Router Archer MR600, Carrier Aggregation is supported and enabled by default. For the supported bands and band combinations, please check the specification of the product on our official website. However, whether and how the bands will be aggregated is related to the base station as well, we are unable to force it to work on 4G+ or force it to work on a specific band combination. Therefore, when you select two or more bands, the MR600 might work on only one band as well. If your SIM card supports different band combinations in 4G+ mode, you could also try other supported band combinations. Anyway, it's still displaying 4G (and streaming the Second Test!) but I wonder if the SIM was set on band 40 by default 'out of the box' and it's now irreversibly on band 28 when I tried to select something that DTAC says isn't available.
  6. So tells us your anecdote of an AIS shop offering you a deal not available to the general public. For example, scubascuba’s 10 Mbps for 150 baht per 30 days. What was your offer and which shop/service centre? As the OP, it behooves me to rate the contributors to this thread. @NextG @scottiejohn Note to the mods, as the OP, I have obtained sufficient information so this thread can be shuttered before someone has heart attack.
  7. Yes, the endless holidays that killed my wife's (and other) restaurant businesses BEFORE Covid in 2016 when punters realized that the benevolent leader's added "happiness holidays" meant they were broke at the end of the month and resorted to 7-eleven's TV dinners and the microwave oven. CP's convenience store expansion really kicked-off in 2016/17 and we all know who's really benefiting from that don't we? No, it's not the mom 'n' pop stores either. He was in charge of his government the goon show so thanks for taking time to highlight his litany of other economic failures like talking-up the droves of Chinese tourists that never really showed up... except the criminal ones with loadsamoney to launder... oops, squander. Sheesh...
  8. Any failure to agree plays straight into the hands of the "Thai people aren't smart/mature enough to know what they want" mantra of successive military-backed (and palace-sanctioned) administrations.
  9. Good point well made. Yes, wait until you have the button before you use the nuclear option.
  10. Good idea. Since I already have data-enabled AIS and DTAC SIMs in other devices, I can check that out. The ZTE MF60 has 3G quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS. Specification: - Data service HSDPA/HSUPA/UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz - GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz - HSPA+: DL 21.6Mbps, UL 5.76Mbps.
  11. But it was OK for the caretaker PM to pull arbitrary regional and national holidays out of his butt in order to "bring happiness to the people". I see.
  12. From the OP's "the machine room (under the hot roof)" it would suggest the heat radiating from a thin, un-insulated machine room ceiling is adding to any heat being generated by the lifting gear inside the machine room. I agree that some form of forced air circulation would be a first step. The control room doors should also have louvers on the lowest panels so that cooler air is drawn in there and the rising hot air extracted near the top.
  13. Very much appreciated. Thanks for the information and clarification.
  14. Good stuff, many thanks.
  15. Yes, a lot of the AIS 12-month 15 Mbps are sold out and the few that are still around are around ฿2,190 but I found a 12-month 8 Mbps for ฿1,890. I reckon I will still hit the AIS store and see if they have stock. Although the 8 Mbps is probably more than adequate for me, why pay more for less?
  16. Thanks for confirming that. I would assume that their network would autosense multiple devices on a single user and anyone creating regular, multi-phone connections would simply see their bandwidth hobbled. As you subsequently suggest, it's 'fair use'. I bought my 1-year DTAC SIM Thep 30Mbps for my office router on lazada last December for ฿1,689. Just hit up the same reseller and the same SIM is now ฿1,950. Anyway, I will go for a 1-year option as then I don't have to worry about it running out while I am away from the fort. More efficient and cheaper too.
  17. I noticed the above referenced AIS SIM net marathon Sim has the exclusion "sharing Internet via Hotspot". Over on DTAC's online "best value" deals is the following 1-year SIM that works out at ~208 baht/month excl. tax. It also prohibits hot spotting. NB: It's only available via their app. Is using either of these SIM in my O2 dongle to create Wi-Fi for sharing internet the same as "hot spotting" on a smartphone? I did notice yesterday while browsing AIS's offers that some SIM were specifically stated as being suitable for using in a dongle or router.
  18. Why so coy when these are signs of fear and lack of confidence?
  19. That makes a difference (unfortunately) and proves that many Farangs here play up as if Thailand was just waiting for them and without them the country would be doomed. I touched also virgin ground and experience the same... I have met so far 2 Farangs at Tescos, but they are not from my village. One "classic" retiree in sleeveless Chang T-shirt scrolling on his own through the shelfs and one was a "1%er Biker Type" and he was surrounded by Thais in different ages, all were laughing and joking. So the dress has only a minor impact... And the daily visits from neighbors show that you can be integrated when you behave and stick to the Do's and don't Do's..... Isn't difficult at all.. You have incorrectly attributed that post. I did not say that. @cjinchiangrai said that.
  20. Great! So how long have you been struggling with your overwhelmingly negative opinion of Thai people here in Thailand?
  21. ^ And then note the online purchase restriction. I will see what the AIS shop says (it was raining yesterday).
  22. Good find. Note the T&C. For 1,490-Baht SIMs, enjoy the offers for 12 months. SIMs come with a constant data speed of 8 Mbps for 100GB monthly. After the allowance is used up, data usage continues at 128 Kbps. offer free calls within AIS network 24 hours (30 minutes maximum in each call), and 1 Baht/minute will be charged from the 31st minute onwards. Enjoy free calls to other networks for 60 minutes and each minute of excess calls is charged at 1 Baht. 1.5 Baht is charged for each minute of VDO calls, 2 Baht is charged per SMS, and 3 Baht per MMS. The rates are exclusive of the 7% VAT. For 1,490-Baht SIM users with 12-month offers, no promotion change can be made within 365 days. In case of a package change, the service rates will instantly become inapplicable. Net Marathon is incompatible with Multi SIM/ Multi SIM Plus services. BitTorrent cannot be used. On-top packages are applicable. The package shall terminate according to the period specified. There will be no SMS notification prior to the package termination. After the package termination period, the package will be renewed in case a specified amount based on the package is topped up in order to allow for a continued package payment debit. In case of no top-up as required, however, no package payment can be made, and the user will be charged for their actual usage based on the terms and conditions stipulated above. The user may change the package three days prior to the package termination date only. The rights to use the service and the specified service rates are reserved for normal domestic usage only. In order to maintain service quality standard and to keep quality network experience for overall subscribers, the company reserves the rights to manage the network as the company deems appropriate including but not limited to limiting or decreasing network speed in case it is found that there is large volume of continuous data transfer, using BitTorrent, sharing Internet via Hotspot, downloading and/or uploading large files, consuming usage for commercial purposes, or any usage which impacts or creates unfairness to other subscribers, or creates impediments to the network of the company. The company reserves the right to change rates, and terms and conditions without prior notice. To find out more about the promotion, please go to https://www.ais.th/one-2-call/sim-netmarathon/
  23. It would appear that the OP has "taken his ball and gone home."
