Do I really need to wait for anything? Once the deed is done can't I just bail out and come the next day and the passport is held and ready for pickup?

Who got bored in Thailand and went back?

What's probably missing for most guys that are bored in a foreign country is a meaningful relationship with a partner. Without that, and a determination to stay in one spot a long time, it's just a change of scenery no matter how many side trips you take. -

the things enjoyed in later life are typically things from the past and experiences we had growing up. the time for learning ends, and remembering begins. if there's nothing around that's familiar it's hard to enjoy something an older thai would enjoy, like farming, appreciating rice whiskey or moped racing. -

it's both. the point is that it's not ideal for everybody and has a lot of negatives. -

That's what I'm feeling currently. It may not be Thailand though, but rather just settling in too long, too comfortable of lack of challenge in a new environment. Or, just not comfortable being retired at all. Any mention of being dissatisfied on this forum gets met with all kinds of attacks, usually of the "it's just you" variety, but it's the environment also. Can you post a link to the video please? -

Foreign Tourist Attacked by Hostile Youngsters in Pattaya

not so sure about that. in the usa you know where to go and who to complain to. anything happens i'm a native and know exactly where to go and what to do if i'm attacked, and how to handle the attack as well. in thailand i'm just sitting on the side of the road helpless or afraid to fight back because it might cause legal problems or problems with local thai's. i feel safer in even rough areas of the usa, like oakland and nyc, then i do in any foreign country. -
It's worth buying a sealed bottle just for the trip. Vitamins can be expensive here and kind of hard to find. If you live here and want to get them shipped Usana office in Bangkok has the best vitamins around. Their office is near the Bts at lumphini park. https://www.usana.com/ux/cart/th-TH/product/101.280802

How do you think Thai people REALLY feel about Farangs?
JimTripper replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Stop trying to change youself so others like you. On colonization... Think like the British. They always carried who they were with them during colonization, and did not become the natives (typically). Of course, they were influenced by them, but they always had high tea and english breakfasts and remembered the civility (and morals) of the place wence they came. Now, sleeping with the natives did occur, but it was a grave offense and likely resulted in reprimand and return to the home country. White socks, smart pressed shorts and clean hats ruled over the plant skirts and bare chests of the natives. No drinking with the natives, wearing their clothes, speaking in strange languages, etc. Have you turned into a savage that another country values, or are you still what YOUR upbringing defines as a man? -
all i see there is tiny bags as usual and no way to select roast. do you have a link? https://doichaangcoffee.co.th/products/coffee-bean/

can you buy a bigger bottle next time? you could also save money by collecting rainwater.

that's one place at least. never really like ordering coffee online though. i need to see and feel the bag. there is a selection at foodland and big c, but not real exciting. buying from starbucks or a cafe seems a little pricey. * what i need is like a costco in the usa that has a premium selection of 2 pound bags at a good price, not a novelty bag of beans from a cafe that's way overpriced for someone that drinks coffee all day. yep, 2 pounds, not a small 250 g bag to make tiny cups and skimp on the coffee. i also don't re-use the grounds a second time if your asking 🤔.

the motobike taxi guys seem to be getting worse then i'm used to, angrier. i think it's lack of fares. i have been getting some overly loud semi-aggressive "motorbike!" kind of stuff where i walk out from my condo in the evenings. it may have been one particular bad apple guy, i don't remember. i started walking out via an alternate way.

you file once a year in both countries for the prior year you get a final net income on the usa return after all calculations and deductions etc, that is taxed when you file the thai return you list all remitted money into thailand and if it's less then your usa net taxed income it gets deducted and you owe nothing you may need to file one countries return early depending on the filing due date, but since it's for the prior year you have all the needed financial info to file since you can complete both returns anytime after the end of the filing year hopefully you don't need to do estimated tax payments or something in the usa so you have a true amount on the end of year return for both countries guessing 🤷🏻♂️

What happens if I stay at a hotel for a few days and they lodge a new TM30 with my passport at check-in? Do I need to get the landlord at my current long term rental to do another TM30 each time I stay at a hotel and return. I hope not. I don't think they will keep sending TM30's each time I'm out of town.
