  1. some of those 8k rooms are pretty small. the pictures can be deceiving.
  2. not relevant. you are running a business in the home so your bill does not mean much to a normal living situation.
  3. Another option could be to simply stay in thailand. if he gets arrested or caught the ban would be much longer and the fine the same BUT he would remain with his gf and the chances are he would not get caught if he is careful, especially if he is living upcountry and has the support of her family. i don't think they jail you if he is on a much longer overstay, he's just deported with a longer ban. if that longer ban did occur he could still live in siem reap or something and the gf could travel there and spend half the year with him or whatever the visa allowed is for thai's. if he simply leaves now he gets a shorter ban, BUT if he's in love that year or two is more important to have now then some future plan of returning. if it worked out they may be able to get married and immigrate to his home country, but if he comes back in a year or two that bonding time is gone and they probably would not just pick up where they left off in terms of how they feel about each other.
  4. so what, what difference does it make? it's an anonymous forum and you will never meet anyone on here. the profile pictures are fake.
  5. also, when you give a brown envelope they can make an excuse, not deliver and say they tried and the money is gone because the target took it and ran. what then? you have no backup person to make sure the brown envelope is returned. it's a sign of being powerless in the first place and not playing by the rules. the only thing protecting you is fair play by the agent or word getting out about it to other customers. fair play is out the door by taking the payoff in the first place and you are not influential enough to have your gossip believed enough to effect future business.
  6. my best tip (but never tried it) is to completely turn the tables by moving in quick and giving the person a big hug, patting them on the back and saying "i'm sorry, man". it would have to be done when you are close or they grab you so you don't get punched on the way in.
  7. forget immigration. if he goes to immigration it may not be interpreted as surrendering. you make think it is, but some somchai at the desk just calls over the police and your stuck because english is a second language and nobody understands if you're trying to get an extension or whatever. they may also not be authorized to accept the 20k baht fine at an immigration office, it may be an airport thing. that means they can't just let you go if you're sitting there at immigration. if he has a ticket out at the airport they kind of know what to do and what the procedure is. don't say anything at the airport, just act like you don't know anything about it and do what they tell you. slim chance, but possible some busy officer just waves you through.
  8. have you checked it yet? that's not normal. maybe a neighbor is tapping into upur line or people are coming in and using stuff when your gone. you may be getting diddled.
  9. Your great at saying absolutely nothing. Next time just give a simple pointer for self-defense.
  10. Nice to meet you, I'm Jack. What do you do? I think we can meet again. How does Tuesday @ 1:30pm sound?
  11. is it ok if i have a penis?
  12. does anyone here have a penis or a vagina?
  13. i would never be in this situation because i would see them acting stupid beforehand and avoid it
  14. open a second account and give the nimber with the minimum required in it don't give the number for your life savings account
  15. don't give access to your account with 500k in it
  16. if you had a bill around 1000 and the place was empty, you need to check for someone tapping your line. or have the electric authority run a check for a drain or short somewhere. that's not normal.
  17. lived here over 10 years. never close to that high. do you have a flat screen tv on all day/night? kids leaving the lights on or watching tv all the time? has to be something... 🤣
  18. that's crazy. i lived in a two bedroom villa in chiang mai and my bill never went over 1000, and i don't conserve. i'm assuming you use a/c every day, correct? just no a/c. maybe try hiding the a/c remote??? or a fan for every room? fans a quite pleasant with the windows open, i don't get hot at all and they run all night. also, very romantic to have blowing. you get a strong oscillating kind and it just blows over the bed. if i needed a/c that much i would question whether thailand was for me, but it's up to you. kind of like liking wine in thailand i guess.
  19. 800 is way too high if nobody is home. is gov't rate the same throughout the country? maybe left the shower water heater on, although i think it kicks off then there is no water flowing.
  20. it helps to not want or need a/c. without a/c it's a non issue.
  21. don't ever pull a tooth unless you absolutely have to and have, pain, infection and can't afford the cheapest crown available.
  22. is it worth it to not run a fan all month to save 300 baht 🤣
  23. Another thing, when someone says come back at 8:30am tomorrow I don't think it means you need to be there at 8:30am. It's just ready st 8:30am. You could come in the afternoon if you like sleeping in?? *The person is just in a rush, or does not know how to explain pick up anytime tomorrow in english.
  24. Do they greet people at walmart?
  25. I did not need to burn them. When you live so far away they just crumble naturally.
