  1. Bake and Bite moved about two months ago, they are no longer in Watgate near the mosque and are now located in Nong Hoi, just off the Chiang Mai/Lamphun Road, South of Rajavej Hospital. A map is shown below. Head south down the CM/Lamphun Road and take the right fork shown on the map, go about 1 km and they are on the left....a good location with lots of parking and easy access. PS: I saw photographs of the old location during the recent floods, the water was over the top of the high gates in the front of the building! They moved just in time.
  2. Filing a tax return for those people who are tax resident and who exceed the assessable income threshold is mandatory for foreigners, just as it is for Thai's. Filing that tax return doesn't infer any rights whatsoever.
  3. The Revenue Code doesn't distinguish between different nationalities, any rule applies to everyone. We are told via previous discussion about this that many countries offer information in different languages hence it is not unusual
  4. At this stage, TRD would only be interested remitted (not earned) income so perhaps their English language usage is the issue here.
  5. There is a 5 day (or perhaps it's 7 days) grace period either side of the due date.
  6. While another poster in a different thread about tax tells us that the TRD e-filing system appears to have been updated with an option for foreign income.....anyone shed any light on this?
  7. Not all players believe the US Fed will cut rates as currently thought, many believe the US 10 year will go back to 5% inside 6 months. That being the case, USD will remain stronger for longer and that means more Baht per buck.
  8. I had this problem a few years ago and my bank, UOB wouldn't touch it. CIMB would but it took 30 days and the terms weren't good...it a was a Treasury check too.
  9. Thanks for responding, perhaps others can shed light.
  10. You attempt to turn one person's opinion into fact and then demand proof of the fact that you just invented. Tell me, are you bored or just sad?
  11. Numerous members have said that TRD should make Thai nationals pay tax, before making foreign residents pay and but they seem unwilling to do this. A regular tax poster took me to task (as is his frequent want and need) for saying that most Thai nationals don't earn enough to warrant filing a return, once TEDA is taken into account, so I dug into things more deeply. The population is circa 70 million but the workforce is only 38 million, the rest are too young, too old, too inform, too incarcerated or too something to be included. About 11% of the population (7.7 mill) files a tax return but only around 6% pay tax. Most of that 11% will be from the workforce which means 20% of the workforce files a return, a more reasonable sounding number. Ah yes you say, but most people work cash in hand and don't declare their earnings. Possibly, but dig into that headline more deeply and all is not what it first appears. The informal economy or grey market is said to equal 50% of GDP or around 8 trillion baht. Divide that amount by the number of people in the workforce and the average national wage of 15,000 baht per month increases to 30,000 baht. BUT, over 55% of workers in the informal economy are agricultural workers, who earn two times lower than their counterparts in the formal economy. What all that leaves us with is around 25% of the workforce who have informal earnings that are not declared, those are the people the TRD needs to target. But the answer to the question, why don't Thai's file tax returns is simply answered, most of them don't earn enough to qualify to do so. "IF the average wage nationwide is 15k per month, most married couples with one child have enough in TEDA to qualify to not file a return". Lastly, it's interesting that many foreigners who move to Thailand, do so for the lower cost of living. Yet they earn between three and six times the average wage but complain they are being made to pay tax when their much poorer hosts do not! Hmmm. The size of Thailand's informal economy is estimated to be 48.4% of GDP (THB18.7 trill.) More than half of informal workers, 55.4%, are in the agricultural sector, earning nearly two times lower than their counterparts in the formal sector. 12. The following that you posted yesterday, it has no bearing or relevance on what's was being discussed. "The lawmaker can decide that only Germans who post on AN under the name of Hayek are taxable in Thailand. They basically can degree what they want. There is no stringent logic in tax law. We can guess, but they can do what they want". The tax rules are enshrined in the TRD code, changing them requires an act of Parliament. So no, a law maker cannot just decide to change the rules and tax one nationality, especially since fairness and equality are a prerequisite for tax code rules globally, if they are not those things they wont work.
  13. Folks sweating the intra-day or intra-week variations shouldn't play the currency game, play the long game with forex, not the short one, especially if you live here.
  14. Just to prove the daily balance never dipped under the required amount and also to annoy them.
  15. Set up a daily direct debit from that account to another, in the amount of 5 baht, then do the same in reverse. At year end, ask the bank for a print out of the account activity and give it to Immi when you extend your visa.
  16. Agreed, but it still doesn't change what I said about the definition being very well established and understood.
  17. A remittance is not determined by a persons nationality, a remittance has a very clear definition in the English language which is no different from the TRD interpretation.
  18. I'm struggling to see where previous estimates exist, outside the 48 to 52 percent range, a 4% variance. I think most people should be willing to accept that margin of error in discussions such as these. I also think 3.2.1 in the bot document is reliable.

  21. As I recall you made your decision to leave Thailand a long time ago and are currently sitting in a Canadian wilderness somewhere!

  23. You have no confirmed proof that is true, you don't know the answer to the question I raised and are now just making things up.
  24. We've been through this before, the video is from Issan lawyers. If you want the latest reliable tax information news, visit Big 4 accountants web sites or the TRD. Youtube videos are simple unreliable.
