  1. Reverting to the mass tourism market is at odds with the desire to have a better class of tourist who spends more, perhaps they should go the whole hog and start to offer backpacker specials as well.
  2. Being on an ignore list doesn't make the persons posts invisible, it only prevents notifications that they've posted more drivel. Here, read this and go away: https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/residence-domicile-and-remittance-basis/rdrm23020
  3. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40036841 currently the Student Loan Fund has over 3.5 million active borrowers who owe some 454.64 billion baht. The fund also has over 5.3 million past borrowers
  4. Thank goodness you;re still on my ignore list, you'd argue black was white and night was day!
  5. You don't understand whatsoever, despite your renowned googling skills! You can't change UK domicile just by moving to another country for 10 years, most requests for domicile change aren't determined until after death for estate purposes. Lord Denning, Master of the Roles, famously said, "domicile is not a raincoat that you can put on and take off at will".
  6. If you keep mentioning it enough times in these threads, perhaps they'll begin to take notice and think it's a good idea!!!
  7. How many of my wives have I told? Only the minor ones.
  8. Google maps has detailed map directions and voice prompts in English, it couldn't be easier to use.
  9. I think it's highly probable that Gift Tax rules may be amended, if as guessed there is a sudden surge in using these tax free gifts. Even 10 mill per year is a ridiculously high number compared to the average income.
  10. Dear Lord, please let this be a wind up post.
  11. There is another deduction you can take for remitting pension income, 50% of the value of the remittance per year, a maximum of 100k. If you have Thai life insurance or medical insurance, those costs are deductible. Your total tax free income should be at least 500k A more complete list of all the TEDA is linked below: https://taxsummaries.pwc.com/thailand/individual/deductions or https://sherrings.com/personal-tax-deductions-allowances-thailand.html
  12. Seriously heavy rains two nights ago in Chiang Mai, the klongs are flowing at full bore and flooding many moo bahns.
  13. A large part of the problem is that Thai contains only 28,864 words whereas English contains at least 170,000.
  14. That comes as no surprise. My best advice is that nobody should think about retaining these tax experts to file their tax return until at least mid February, By that time, all the tax news that's available will be out and there will be some first hand reports by that time.
  15. Huh? Most students who attend uni in Thailand end up having to repay a government loan over many years.
  16. The TRD is highly unlikely to be interested in tracking deposits for retirement visa's but large sums for property purchase may well attract at least a glance (they did with me nearly 20 years ago when I was asked by BOT what I was doing bri9ning 6 mill. into Thailand). But none of those things should prevent people from opening bank accounts here or important reasonable amounts of money to live on, those people are in no way targets. Remember, this rule change was enacted to capture Thai's investing offshore, not foreign retirees.
  17. If your wife is not a US citizen and is in receipt of US SSc, it will be taxable. However, I cannot be certain about Survivor Benefits which could be different....don't know.
  18. Chill, I'm on your side, I was parodying the atypical AN member who objects to everything.
  19. "some of the forum users, they immediately like to jump on users without checking all the facts first." Kneejerkitus is rampant this year...:) SOP response to member supplying fact is to say they are (tick as appropriate): - scaremongering and trying to create hysteria for some reason only they understand; - demented/mistaken and a link must be supplied else it aint so; - capitalise on reader fear and herd readers towards agents where they will obtain a commission.
  20. When the company is the person, it's splitting hairs as to whether the person or the business is being taxed don't you think.
