His situation is a little bit different though. It's not a standard 30 day emergency extension coming off a visa exempt or tv and then on amnesty, but thanks.

Am I right in assuming that the British Embassy will not provide letters required by Thai immigration for a 30 day extension beyond 26 September?
They are now. My bad I see Joe already answered it.

Yes ... just got back from immigration CW after providing my embassy paper , the extension is 30 days starting 26-september , but they didnt give me the extension yet ,i got a stamp on my passport to get back to them on September for final approval.
That means you got it. After getting the under consideration stamp it is a formality to get the full time.

Except some (many?) embassies, like the US, are no longer issuing such letters. Understandable, as embassy appointments appear to be for emergency purposes only, at least at the US embassy.
They are no I just got one today. took 3 minutes online.

I am less interested in the issue of whether or not the U.S. Embassy is willing to issue letters supporting short-term visa extensions for folks...
And more interested in what Thai Immigration actually does once people start showing up with those letters asking for further short-term extensions of stay. Thus far, there seem to be a number of denials reported here.
Where have you seen the denials for people asking for 30 day extensions on visa exempt, TV, etc? Getting the embassy letter is the first step.

"He rushed and put out the flames that took nearly 20 minutes (Thaivisa believes Sanook meant seconds)."
My god I hope it was seconds. Can you imagine having them take 20 minutes to put out flames when you are on fire....even 20 secs would not be fun

I would say later unless your office says it will start on September 26th.
Ok Thanks Joe. I was willing to be a test case for the forum. I will call them. it's CW

@ubonjoe Can we take this letters now and apply for 30 day emergency extensions or must/should we wait until closer to the deadline?

Something doesn't add up here, a European living a nice life, being presentable and speaking Thai so they reported him to the police? How dare he!
I believe an ex who had been supporting him dropped a dime on him. Not sure, but an educated guess.

I am skeptical that you will need a good reason. Maybe just a smile on your face, the proper forms and 1900 baht. It will pay immigrations salaries without the Thai government taking out loans and engaging deficit spending.

You are still at the discretion of Thai immigration, and you will have to prove your case to them on why you deserve 30 more days.
But it may be just a formality as they collect there 1900 baht from thousands of us to help refill the government coffers. The Thai government needs the money from immigration fees. It is an important source of revenue, if nothing else to pay the salaries of immigration

We've seen this all around the world. Thailand will be no different.
I dunno, it does seems like there is some kind of mass hysteria and panic. Look what happened in Rayong over one Egyptian who was most likely immune. If not hysteria surely some kind of panic. It seems to be something that would be discussed in a sociology text on the mentality of group man as something different than that of sensible individuals. Maybe mass anxiety neurosis would be a better term.

Strange how they accept 1000 road deaths each month but none from covid-19 yet 3000 die in Thailand of the flu each year yet not a single peep!
In 2018, the last bad flu season, the number for flu and pneumonia was 44k. The whole thing is absurd

Assume 39 is a typo but did not say they would provide any extension - only that they would consider it. Expect there must be a reason for such requests that immigration agrees with.
But as no source for this notice has been provided it appears may not be as firm as even that and may still be under review as US Embassy has still not sent out any such notice that I have seen or see listed on their website.
Yes typo and edited but one member just confirmed that he has received the letter from the embassy. issuing it is a formality I believe

I would be very careful with this. It looks like a fake announcement to me. The wording does not sound anything like a typical US embassy announcement. It is barely coherent and probably not even written by a native english speaker.
I would not put any personal info into that link provided. The whole thing is probably a scam to collect personal info.

I don't know I got an e-mail response that look clearly like an e-mail from the US Embassy in BKK

click here - hopefully that works. That part probably deserves its own topic too, a lot of people thought it was impossible that they would write those letters again.
Form submitted. Thanks so much Greg!

My reading is there is a new policy until Septermber 11 to provide access to obtaining official extension status for those currently on amnesty exemption which in turn will then allow an official extension of stay to be applied for. For those not going that route but needing to stay past September 26 immigration will consider providing 30 extensions with embassy letter.
So they will provide letters for 30 day extensions now. great!

Wow. I believe I know this guy peripherally. He's not a bad guy, just broke, and ironically, since he was working in the movie business whatever money he made, he was paying taxes. Most likely it was the women who were helping him out since the movie business is dead now, and one of them dropped a dime on him. I believe his exploits are being exaggerated to make it appear that the popos were sleuths instead of it just being an irate ex making a call be the reason for his demise. Sad.

I tip my hat to your insightful humility in acknowledging facts when they're facts. I recall you were one of the most vociferous critics of the Swedish approach, but if you can see facts for facts that is a rare event here on TVF and frankly shows that these discussions are not in vain. If even one person can acknowledge reality that is a good day for everyone. Well done.
Yeah, this is what civil discourse should be able to result in, I have changed my mind about things a few times during this pandemic due to discussions on tvf. Good on you BKK Brian. It takes intellectual courage to admit when you were wrong about something and change your mind. Big thumbs up.
