  1. Ying Yong tomorrow at local Wat popular with Khmer sometimes mixes Thai and Khamin with kantrum beat
  2. Concerts is all I do the rest is <deleted>, including food, women, hobbies and all that rubbish. Ying Yong tomorrow, then Monsit Khomsoi ending with Ying Lee next weekend all down the local Wat
  3. Comic genius and one of Australias most sophisticated characters
  4. Prices in central Rama 2, big C and 7/11 are the same. Housing might be a bit cheaper but not by much. The so called tradesmen are certainly not cheaper and just as clueless. Quite a few trendy cafes opening up recently with sky high prices, went once that was it.
  5. Our local Wat now has signs warning of CCTV cameras and that any caught dumping unwanted pets will be fined 40k baht. Even the monks of fed up with it.
  6. It is the entertainment capital if you are interested in music, it's just the rest of it which is so depressingly boring.
  7. No roof is not connected it's just the first small part of the driveway the other part is on the house foundation
  8. They re laid the road in our area recently, took the old up whacked the ground then laid about 6 inches of concrete on sheets of re bar in sections. That gets 10 tonne lorries going over it and that will not be sinking. They dont pile for roads so why don't they sink inches?
  9. Would have to demolish a roof over the area to get the pile machine in so not doing that. Bloke next door just put tar mac down and adds to it if it keeps sinking!
  10. House is not a problem, on the legally required depth of piles, nothing moved in 12 years, it's the ground not on piles which sinks, cannot do piles as not enough headroom to whack them in.
  11. They usually just dump the dogs in another area up the road!
  12. Yet the one of the Soi dog foundations boasts is how the stray dog population on the Island is under control thanks to their sterilisation efforts over the past 20 years. They got that wrong then, along with the lie that what they are doing is the solution to the growing soi dog problem in the rest of the country.
  13. we need to get a sinking driveway redone, hammering pillars into the ground is out of the question. Got a reasonable quote but he says get your own rebar, how much is it? It's only a space about 2.5x2.5 meters but we want the proper material like they use on the roads, not that wire like flimsy stuff. This kind of thing, guess it comes in a sheet we would have to cut down
  14. The Thaiger again, I came here to get away from it!
  15. You confuse opposition with hate, although some things do need to be hated. Islamaphobic is a word invented to demonise opponents of the religion and meaning irrational fear, in many cases that fear is entirely rational, you only have to look at the number of terror attacks (thousands) carried out across the world by it's followers since 9/11. It's followers of course are not to blame, the ideology is, being a supremacist, intolerant woman oppressing and gay hating movement. Any opposition to it's ever increasing encroachment into western culture is of course labeled bigoted hate, when in fact it's entirely justified. No amount of nice liberal followers can change the essential nature of their belief system, which is bad, very bad. If you want a better explanation read the Quran and haddiths, it's all in there along with the appalling life story of the founder.
  16. It's the beliefs of muslims which are the topic, and a religion founded by a thief, war lord, killer, slave owner, polygamist and child abuser. All of these are in Islamic scripture, especially the hadith of Sahih al Bukari
  17. I will ask the mrs, sometimes last minute and too late to go!
  18. If you read the Quran and haddiths I think you might find it strange that anyone believes in this nonsense.
  19. Not the slightest bit interested
  20. Scant details, the Wat fair might be worth a look as they usually have concerts. Probably the usual hi-so nationalist stuff, orchestras and korn, well removed from the culture of most Thais
  21. Not sure about this. Saw friend today who had stage 3 stomach cancer a couple of years ago, she had surgery, radiation and chemo went into remission. She said they just found another small growth after an x ray, could have meant MRI. This is in Bkk, I was surprised at the level of care she got under the 30 baht scheme
  22. Could be one of those Thai dissidents that song Refugees highlights? Can't post it unfortunately
  23. How many Chinese forums do you read? They are quite adapt at back stabbing, lying and letting people down, Mrs can testify to that having been to China with some of them. I refer to Chinese nationals, not Thai Chinese. They can certainly give lessons in corruption.
  24. Our Chinese neighbour gets a visa by claiming one of her kids is Thai, got a Thai mans name on the birth document. She's married and lives with the Chinese father, who works illegally. Several Chinese national families round us, they are all up to something dodgy, all managed to buy houses and other assets, working illegally or on dodgy visas. One claimed to have bought a Thai ID for 200k several years ago. Crafty lot who stick close together.
