Q con blocks are the best, those red brick walls often look like they have as much morter as brick, sometimes you can see daylight coming through! Cinder blocks are OK for garden walls, unfortunately ours was built with them internally between the house next door- no sound insulation at all.

Cheap are ok if you are older and will outlast you, had them from 17k- 6k in Bangkok. More expensive ones have precious metals inside, I'd avoid resin ones though they feel like plastic in your mouth.

I would not trust teachers to look after cash. Many years ago I sent 13k baht to a poor school in Udon to spend on the kids- they spent it all on new tables and chairs for the staff room and proudly sent me photos of same ????
