  2. I've seen "Certified" used cars on Sukhumvit, and on the net. I'm assuming certified means it's been checked out and no issues found. https://www.facebook.com/usedcarhonda/
  3. In November of last year my 61 y/o brother was sick for a few days with fever, cough, fatigue. I kept telling him to go to the hospital but he didn't want to, saying he was sick earlier in the year and was sure it was covid and there's no way he could catch it again. A few more day pass and his illness is getting worse to include difficulty breathing. I finally convince him to go to the hospital and sure enough he's infected with covid. They put him on oxygen as his oxygen saturation level was in the upper 80's low 90's, after 2 weeks and slight improvement he sign's out Against Medical Advice (AMA), I was stunned. As he's divorced and I was listed with the hospital as his emergency contact they called me and implored me to convince him to come back. My brother was being stoic saying he's ok, not going to die, blah blah blah. He didn't want to go back to the hospital and was upset with me for trying to get him to return to the hospital. We lived in the same city (Phoenix AZ) and I told him to stay home and I'll deliver anything he wants to his front door, again him being stoic he said he'll just pop into his nearby supermarket and be quick about shopping. After about a month his health improved and he's ok now but says his sense of smell seems off.
  4. Full face helmet is all I need, if I added ear plugs I think it starts getting into the unsafe zone.

  6. I had a similar incident here on Pattaya's Darkside, I was driving my motorbike late one night on a small dark street in the middle of nowhere and came across a bunch of branches blocking the road. I naturally stopped and in the couple of seconds of me trying to figure out what's going on, a guy jumps out from some shrubs behind me and hits me across the back with a large stick. I immediately drive over the branches and get the hell out of there. no major injuries so I went to the local police box to report this assault and the cop says "you big man, no problem", <deleted>? I tell him and the small gathering of Thais "Yes I big, but maybe next time it's old man or lady". I convince the gathering to go check it out and we find the branches now off to the side of the road. I learned my lesson, don't drive on dark streets late at night and don't stop if something suspicious pops up.
  7. Every so often I have the same problem as the OP, unable to complete payment, when that happens I just use the COD option.
  8. People gotta eat/buy food, I'm sure the big supermarkets would love for those small food stands to close down but then the little shops would suffer even more. Thai government; dammed if they do and dammed if they don't.
  9. Ummm, I flew into BKK earlier this year and did the ASQ hotel stay, I was confined to my room, not allowed to leave, "solitary confinement", but never did I act like a drama queen saying I was in jail.
  10. If you're so worried about covid why have strangers clean it in the first place? Second place are you unable to tell them "just clean the outside, do not clean inside"?
  11. A recent google review says the owner closed the Phuket shop and opened a new gym in BKK, wow.
  12. Tell the seller you have no intention of buying unless the price is dropped, and watch out for other hidden pitfalls.
  13. OP, your current immigration office obviously knows you by now and you'll most likely keep getting the same answer when you try with them again. If you're not tied down with a long term lease, I wonder if moving to a different part of the country and trying a new immigration office will get you your desired result. Just a thought.
  14. My uncle-in-law is a Thai policeman, when he got in big trouble he was reassigned to a different part of the country and faced a hefty fine.
  15. You're assuming the person staying at a hotel is going to write "room 106 at the Bayview Hotel" as an address and not 310/2 Beach Rd, Apartment 106, Pattaya City, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chon Buri 20150?
  16. It's always possible they are but just like in other countries, the homeless will reject certain forms of help.
  17. Now if we can just convince some countries to use entry stamps instead of those stickers that take up a whole page.
  18. I've heard some mosquitos have an altitude limit, meaning if outside they won't fly above a certain height. Of course if they enter a building/condo below their "no-fly zone" they can work their way up the stairwells/elevators.
  19. Is the 40K per month still an option? My US military monthly pension is well above the 40k, just wondering if I'm able to free up my 400k sitting in a Thai bank, and if yes, what forms?
  20. This thread has rekindled my interest in growing an avocado tree here in my East Pattaya home, as I always regretted not planting one many years ago when I first moved here. So earlier this week I bought a Hass avocado sapling off of Lazada for 189 b + 64 in shipping. My gardening skills have greatly improved over the years and hopefully they'll disprove the "can only grow them up north" saying. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i2097892122-s6996450068.html?urlFlag=true&mp=1&spm=spm%3Da2o4m.order_details.item_title.1
  21. " I have a little couch, my bed. I have a little kitchenette… I guess for a jail, it’s not bad." Jail?!?
  22. My Thai wife puts these incense type sticks out in the garden if/when we're out in the garden during the evening, 500 sticks/150b.
