Consular support for passport renewal
PPGuy replied to Malaikat Nakal's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
Excellent information from @DannyS1951. Ref your point 7 on not expecting HMPO to make contact should there be a problem. My experience on that was positive in that HMPO did contact me by email, with no prompting from me, and the problem was quickly resolved. This was early last year and it concerned having 2no 'live' UK passports but only wanting 1no to be renewed (I had supplied full copies of both in the application process). The response was from 'SouthportTeam4' was was efficiently dealt with by the team member. As an aside, both current passports were needed to be cancelled at time of collecting the new one. Yes, just a sample of one and others may have negative experience, unlike mine. -
Am located in East Pattaya and tend to delay paying PEA beyond their initial 'pay by' date. This is usually the 2nd of the month. If I delay by a few days I receive a chaser bill (dated 8th) that gives me to the 13th to make a payment. Not tried to delay any further than that to see what might happen next and when.............

I renewed my UK passport with Key Visa early last year (local travel restriction were in place at that time). Cost was 5k baht service fee plus cost of new passport (paid via my completed credit card form). Good service but probably made easier with me being able to drop off and collect at their office. Per their current link, their fee remains at 5k baht.

With the GBP rate climbing above 43 decided to move some funds to my SCB account just now. Gave reason as 'General exps' and, as previously with this category, it arrived in seconds. Can only think that some of the delay issues noted up thread must be due to reason issues, primarily long term visa category use.

A Thai relative arranged a house loan refinancing recently. Used 'Thai Credit Retail Bank' (unknown to me previously) and was happy with both their house valuation and the rate offered. Previously had a loan with SCB but at a high rate. Should be noted that their scrutiny of salary / expenses and other o/s loans (credit cards, car loans, etc) was rather strict. I believe they need minimum of 2 years salary info. Took a couple of months or so to complete. Don't have info on the financials involved but might be worth contacting.

Look on the bright side. The GBP rate is currently 42.3470. If it remains at that or goes higher, when able to action an Imm transfer, will be a nice bonus. Every cloud..............

Need an old phone like Samsung S7 that accepts a big SIM
PPGuy replied to ukrules's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Had a similar issue recently. An iPhone 4 with working UK sim packed up and the repair shop suggested that I could get the sim cut to size to fit a new mobile. However had an old Samsung J6 and just inserted the full sized UK sim and works perfectly. -
I recently applied for the DM Neo app and was accepted after passing the KYC process. The first transfer is free. They needed: Selfie Passport copy Copy of visa - I forwarded copy of my retirement extension Additional verification - I sent Thai licence front/back which had my Thai address, other options were noted The visa request stated need for >15 days validity. No requirement for work permit. This was all quite similar to the requirements when I registered for their previous app a couple of years back.

Yep, spot on. The average rate has increased to 5.54, up by about 15%. This from a monthly usage of 1,062 units giving a cost of Bt5,885. Running 3 a/c's most nights, so will need to get them serviced to have them operating as efficiently as possible. The currently cooler weather should also help.

https://aseannow.com/topic/1261014-iphone-6-plus-needs-new-battery/#comment-17385141 This earlier topic has some pointers. I have used IOSRestore, as noted in the link, and also resolved the OP problem.

My average PEA rate for May to Aug has been around 4.83 based on monthly units ranging from 1,036 to 1,237. Next bill due on 22Sep so will see what the increase is at that time, hopefully not too much.

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
PPGuy replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOTx0aLabVg This is an interview conducted by Tim Sebastian for DW. it is with Andrei Kolesnikov who is based in Moscow and has very forthright views on Putin and the war. How long he remains at liberty to express such views remains to be seen. He finishes with a rather chilling conclusion that, win or lose, Putin will remain dangerous, but defeat may make him more dangerous because he has a nuclear weapon. -
