  1. Think I mentioned this someplace before..will try again.

Many of us are avid readers and are now using tablets/e readers for e book reading.

Is it possible to establish an eBook forum on TV...Admin?

Personally have download lots of public domain freebies and have maybe 30++ in .PDF format which I would more than happy to email to anyone who wishes. ( gonna get E pub reader software for Android as soon as I can get in a hotspot as cannot download to PC and transfer for some reason).

Will screen shot PM my book file to anyone who asks. Mostly classics/history and stuff though...lol

Okay, know that everyone has access but sometimes it takes a lot of frustrating googling to find the book you want in public domain or otherwise.

I guess we could also share purchased books regardless of any potential infringements?

    Happy new year all!

    D

  2. Leaves have started to brown in Ranong. About 3 weeks of the season left I think.

How's the rain down there.I hear there is a lot?

We only had 15MM last week but heard you had a lot more than that.We are still tapping 3 days and 1 day off coz ground nice and wet.Getting good yang. But think season will end about end of January.

We are going to hold our mats now till end of season as feel sure yang will go up,now that gov has finnished there coughbullsit helping the farmers 100 per kilo goughbullshit guaranteed price.Noticed on TV japan rubber price is floating at $300 to $302 per ton.so really this should maybe give us 95 to 100 baht per kilo after new year if Japans price does not drop.

hmm had a few days of blue skies and got burnt fixing stuff...now pissing down..off to mammas house tomorrow am....with a ton of pork, prawns, squid and whatnot .....for new years..then maybe Phuket for a swim....

......sold cup at gate yesterday 38 bt..wife went to market and bought me a 1.8 kilo great hunk of beef 300bt,box of Chang ,a bottle of 285 and two pair of real nice boxers at 39 bt ea...life's good..

oh yeah forgot ..there is a new pretty thing selling the most wonderful gooey chocolate brownies in the market now....yum 20bt but soo fricking good..lol

  3. Neither much good for carting rubber or new water tanks though.....smile.png

    I like the Olds thumbsup.gif

    lol

..that is a stock pic...mine was dark blue with tonneau..white leather seats, nodding dog on the back shelf and an orange on the aerial..lol

Drove it up the top end of Newfoundland on the then dirt road, holed the gas tank and repaired it with a bar of soap every couple of

hundred miles all the way to Vancouver and still got 10 miles to the gallon ....lol

  4. It is strange with these fantastic methods some of you suggest. You do mean still that the ants are having a memory and remember i.e. Borax - " Oh shit no guys, we cannot go in there.. let´s move on to the next falang" . Is this what you suggest?

Otherwise you need to do this stuff with borax and the other products on a regular basis your whole life out. I do not have a problem with different means of killing the ant, but dont say to other people that you do it just once or twice and than all is fine, because that is a lie.

Ants are here, will always be here, and they will probably inherit the earth... One good thing what concerns the bed and the rest of the household is to be very clean and never let remains of our meals stay there for hours on our tables, THAT drags ant´s to our homes.

We can minimize the problem by stoping eating in bed. An ant can smell a piece ever so small from over 1 meter away and drags to it like a magnet. 1 meter for a ant is over 900 meter for us humans.... Can we smell food 900 meter away....

    glegolo

of course it is a never ending story...lol

I believe the theory with borax solutions is that they take the latter back to the nest and feed it to their babies?

Of course if it is 800 meters away they may need to take a bus or borrow your motorbike or they may go to the big anthill in the sky before they get chez ant.

.....eating in bed ..don't think the babe sits eating salt and vinegar Pringles and watching Sesame Street yet, although I suspect that all babies being horrible smelly little things ...........I guess one could keep the baby in the fridge?sick.gif

  5. another effective poison is borax or boracic acid powder..make a mix with old cooking oil and sugar an leave in container like a jar with lid on and holes punched.....

some talcs used to contain borax?

One thing you might consider is that the tiny little buggers get airborne from any fan or breeze..often end up in our bed this way..try using a mosquito net or one of those framed tents.

Dirty fans attract ants.... .gecko poop and dead bugs. Also window jambs, cupboards, laundry hampers, mozzie screens etc

We have wood backed cushions on window benches and a couple of times have found nests under....strange..think the gecko poop and dead bugs ......

If you put containers under the legs of baby's bed then use glass, not tin, as it rusts real quick...maybe add bleach to the water, gets real ugly in a short time so needs to be changed frequently.

  6. hmm...... one of those too hard basket things..have hooked up our androids to my pc via wifi ...androids see the pc okay .....pc has a wet string wireless modem 1G ? internet connection..still struggling to get android to access the internet though.........tink I will just buy a 1000bt router....before I throw the fricking thing out the window....

  7. ...some good memories of getting legless on Pusser's in Cane Garden Bay..lol.....not heavy enough I thought...

A bar on Kauai used to serve a fantastic bar rum think it was called Island Bay or something from Jamaica...thick enough to stand a spoon up almost..excellent and cheap...never seen it anyplace else.

.Actually have found the big brand light rums are somewhat bland after Thai rums..good news for the pocket book! Still treat myself when on R&R with Captain Morgan though.

Want to see Thai dark rums now..that would be good!

    Will check out OPs suggestion...thx

  8. "Sarn Som" just means "alum".

In Thailand, you'll find ammonium alum "(NH4)Al(SO4)2·12H2O", which is used for water purification and as a deodorant.

What you are looking for (to stop the bleeding after shaving) is potassium alum "KAl(SO4)2·12(H2O)", which is neither made nor sold in Thailand (unless there is a new importer I am not aware of).

Anyway, you can try the Thai alum as recommended by some posters. It will give you an uncomfortable feeling and in fact, the warning on the exports to Europe say "do not apply to open wounds". I don't think it will stop the bleeding, but please report your experience!

yup maybe some are allergic to Thai alum........ I have used it for years on wounds et al ( not sure if it stops the bleeding/aids coagulation though?), mozzie bites( stops itching in minutes!),as a deodorant and a water clarifier..seems to be effective with no adverse reactions...Op could well try it ...nothing lost ?

  9. okay don't live in Phuket..but during frequent visits find them pretty nice people...language barriers is gonna make many assume the worst...

remember this freedom is all new to them..you have had it always!....?

Okay they are suspicious and maybe don't smile............years of police state..maybe!?

.......ever sat on #128 bus in UK?

    Happy campers hugh?....lol?!!

Leave 'em alone..they want a holiday..treat 'em with respect and who knows they may want to come back??

  10. I think this a very important subject, as I said in another thread, if I were buying a set of knives and forks, material quality wouldn't be much of an issue, since a failure wouldn't be a life threatening , I would just be a bit pissed off.

This has nothing to due with the technology of the bike, but of the production methods, whether the bike has fuel injection, or a carburettor is not significant, but whether the material in a crucial component is of the right specification and consistency, is.

My eyes were opened during a visit to Ningbo, where I found the level of expertise frightening, outside their own narrow remit they knew nothing, I had to explain to them what investment casting was and they were all graduate engineers. But the boss had a nice big Nissan car, so despite this he was making money, from a product that was total crap. I then went to see a stockist of theirs in the UK and they had a room full of broken winches and bits like bearings and gears....and they were making lots of money too.

Companies like Honda have spent million, if not billions over many decades getting to where they are today, China want success before the day is out and that means cutting corners, or generally not giving a shit. But they do offer big profits for their dealers, so these products are cheaper than you think.

A friend of mine has a Lifan, it doesn't start that easily, it doesn't sound very sweet, he had a faulty tyre which he replaced and that is enough for me. When they get their pedigree in 5 or 10 years time, I may be interested, but "all that glitters is not gold.".

I bought a knock off watch from Laos, it had stopped before I got home, I bought a belt and the from plate fell off, I bought a razor and it is still working. Al very cheap, but 1 out of 3, not good.

Okay....I have a PX 175 as previously stated on the PX250 thread......stored undercover for 4 + years very low kms, looks great, immaculate as new condition, mirrors still work and the tyres are only flat at the bottom.....wanna buy it? ....lol?..no it is not funny!

I suspect that a lot of aftermarket parts for the Japanese bikes may well be made in China..same same brush cutters et al....

    Tyres and inner tubes particularly....

  11. Thought at first this should maybe be in DIY or maybe about relationships here in LOS or anyplace else...lol...?

anyways.......I thought it was funny ......

No dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED. However, in a recent linguistic conference held in London, England, and attended by some of the best linguists in the world: Samsundar Balgobin, a Guyanese, was the clear winner.

His final challenge was this: Some say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED. Please explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand.

    Here is his astute answer:

"When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. But, when you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED. And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!"

  12. that is sad.....

Did the OP's original litter pups also die?

so do we know where the virus originates, how is it transmitted..from contamination, heredity or other infected dogs...is there a life stage, once passed, at which they are no longer at risk?

could google but we have the knowledge here methinks.

We have two remaining puppies now, approx 3 months old ( gave away the other 6)..wonder if we should inoculate...? Our dogs do not leave the locale but do mix and fight with local farm dogs.

Wonder if there is some natural immunity from the viruses with the more feral?

Remember in UK every puppy was inoculated for hard pad and distemper....never heard of it in Canada or Australia.

Know that the ex took our shepherd from Oz to Canada without need for quarantine so maybe Australia is free of these viruses?

    thx

    d

  13. Have a good one guys!

Went off to buy new fricking water tank yesterday....saw one highway with lots of little prezzies hanging on palm trees......very nice...bout the only sign of Christmas here except in frickin Tesco ..full of different cans of cookies and white Christmas music so loud ya can't here yourself think.

Was off to Phuket today to get drunk in a different location...pissing rain so maybe forget it..usually like to sit in my favourite illegal on the beach bar and drink beers......
