  1. Us Use Microsoft Defender. It's just as good as the commercial ones and causes less problems.
  2. When someone is choking on food The American Red Cross recommends the following steps: Give five back blows. Stand to the side and just behind a choking adult. For a child, kneel down behind. Place your arm across the person's chest to support the person's body. Bend the person over at the waist to face the ground. Strike five separate times between the person's shoulder blades with the heel of your hand. Give five abdominal thrusts. If back blows don't remove the stuck object, give five abdominal thrusts, also known as the Heimlich maneuver. Alternate between five blows and five thrusts until the blockage is dislodged.
  3. If they start arresting people for pirating, we're all in trouble!
  4. If they simply retained internet banking there wouldn't be a problem would there
  5. I changed my passport at the same time
  6. I went to the branch and had them install it.
  7. She's addicted and needs profesional help. You can't stop this on your own. There are gambling rehab clinics in Thailand. And there used to be a branch of Gambler's Anonymous although I don't know if it's still operating. You might try contacting the Stop Gambling Foundation to see what resources are available. But you can't do anything unl3ww she's willing to cooperate. For that, you would probably need an intervention involving her family. If they won't cooperate and she won't cooperate, you might need to consider a separation until she's willing to get help.
  8. I have 2000 W induction cooker. It goes up to 240 degrees in stir fry mode but that temperature quickly corrodes the teflon coating. Even if I keep the temperatures fairly low (no more than 200) the teflon coating erodes fairly quickly (generally within a year). So, as the other poster said, get a cast iron fying pan or wok and season it properly before using it.
  9. You notice when you registered for the mobile app they requested access to all your data and permission to share it with 3rd parties. You can refuse but that data nevertheless remains available to them.
  10. Yes, it's so secure that even the Bank of Thailand came out and advised people to put the bulk of their money in an acccount that's can't be accessed through the app.
  11. But internet banking isn't necessary because the mobile apps are so secure and convenient. Yeah, right.
  12. I'd agree but then I remember that my country has Biden for president.
  13. I've gone off the beaten track as well but outside the tourist areas they generally have no idea what do with a farang's hair. The best area I've found is bon kai on Rama 4. Several cheap salons and many of the haircutters seem to be former working girls so they have experience with farangs.
  14. I had one bad experience after another with haircutters. I went to one place on Soi 4, 200 baht haircut. It was just okay. The next time I went, she said after finishing the cut, "Okay, now pay me 250." I paid her the 250 and never went back. Same thing happend at the Nana hotel. Price went up 50 baht second time I went. I found another place, 150 baht. The second time I went she paused in the middle of cutting my hair and said, "I'll give you a good haircut if you pay me 200." I paid her 150 and never went back. Several times I went to a place on Soi 3 even though the staff was unpleasant (I think they preferred Arabs). Then one day the barber started yelling at me because I didn't praise her haircut enough. Then there was the place over behind the Platinum Mall, 100 baht. I came out looking like Alfred E. Newman. Honestly, I feel traumatized.
  15. Plus, it forces people to consume cheaper Thai spirits and beer. I don't know who's drinking Thai wine.
  16. During the pandemic, I started cutting my hair myself. It looks no worse than most of the haircuts I've had over the years. It does help if you have someone who will tidy up the back for you.
  17. At least they have a sense of humor.
  18. You have to already have an account with a bank book and ATM card to register for SCB Easynet. It's just a different channel for accessing your funds. In that sense, the function is similar to an ATM. You don't have an ATM account. You have an account that comes with an ATM card. That said, bank books would seem to be useless now. Before, they were a way or recording every transaction that you made but now people are making so many small transactions via debit cards, QR codes, prompt pay, etc. that bank books can't accomodate them. So instead all the transactions that occurred prior to the last time you updated your passbook get consolidated into one lump sum. If you want to know your transaction history, you have to access the app. I predict bank books will be the next to fall.
  19. I believe direct debits will continue to function in SCB easy internet banking. At least that's what they said.
  20. Chuck Berry spent two years in jail for taking an underage girl across state lines. But, hey, Elvis was Elvis.
  21. No, everybody knew he was a pedophile. He started going out with Priscilla when she was 14. Her parents were all for it.
  22. Sure, but META hit 90 at one point (now 288), TESLA 100 (now 259), MSFT 213 (now 335). Cathy's ARKK is up 35 percent ytd. BTC just hit a new 52 week high, which is amazing since during the tech crash half the crypto sector was shown to be fradulent. But what it shows is the bubble is still alive and well.
  23. Tech and crypto seem to move in tandem. Bubble in one mirrors a bubble in the other. Cathy Wood is still predicting that bitcoin will hit 1 million eventually.
  24. Apple is now at a 3 trillion dollar market cap. Unbelievable. I never thought it would happen.
