nothing about the drug itself but its sadly the kind of clientele that legal weed attracts. think weekend trips/stag do's to amsterdam. not exactly the nicest of folk.

when someone or a group of louts are being boisterous and causing a scene its very hard not to take notice. especially if they have there shirts off when locals are wearing hats and jackets. they looked like a right pair of clowns.

it seems with the reopening of the borders and the liberalization of weed, Thailand is now attracting a brand new market. The Magaluf scally. I was out and about yesterday at a famous tourist destination and two shirtless cockney chavs sat next to me. The type of lads who look like they would glass you for no reason. one looked like he just had his nose busted, probably got into a scrap the night before. both were heavily tattooed and looked like ex army lads. they were mostly talking about birds and drugs. i got a real bad vibe from them so i paid my bill, got up and left. its kinda sad to see these kinds of people coming to Thailand, they never really bothered before and were mostly confined to magaluf/benidorm. I know that pattaya and phuket has these kinds of white trash floating around in the gutter but not usually the kinda places i frequent. they were loud, brash and cocky as they come. I hope they go home soon.

if none of the loans are in his name then technically he has no obligation to honor the debt. However, if he wants to just rinse his hands of any responsibility of paying his wife's loans that he has been paying all along then things could get messy. The uncontested divorce could quickly turn into a contested divorce and then your friend is in for one hell of a rollercoaster ride. my advice to him would be to either come to an out of court cash settlement with his wife to at least pay some of her remaining debit, or leave the country in the middle of the night and never look back. contested divorces in Thailand are both costly and nightmarishly difficult to navigate. best of luck to your friend.

If Wife Dies Before Me.
bob smith replied to NoshowJones's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
It was as easy as pie for me. I told my wife either you name me as the sole beneficiary of OUR property or I'm walking out the door. She did it in a heartbeat. In this country you have to be firm but fair. it's the only way to not get your fingers burned. -

None of that matters as long as you are mentioned in your wifes will as the sole beneficiary of her estate. Who paid what, when and where counts for nothing. It's all about her will and who is named in it. -

if you are named in the will as the sole beneficiary then that would put you in excellent legal standing when it comes to inheriting the house. it would ward off any potential scavengers (family members) from taking you to court and crying to the judge. if you are named in the document and you alone, then legally they wouldn't have a leg to stand on. DO NOT rely on the fact that you are her husband and (you think) you are legally entitled to the property through marriage only. Doesnt work like that here. The family WILL take you to court and will probably walk away with at least half, if not all of the house if they put up a good fight. I am named as the sole beneficiary of my wifes house. Her family aint got a prayer. Be smart, especially when it comes to stuff like this. -

yes, she can. she can write you in her will as the sole beneficiary of the estate. then you will have 365 days from the point you inherit the house to sell it to a thai national. if you cannot sell it within that period i am unsure what will happen, maybe the thai government gets it or whoever is next in the familial line? might have to go to court at that point. point is she must explicitly write you in her will by name as the sole beneficiary for you to stand any chance of inheriting the property. -
