  1. Totally agree. It's when these very serious crimes happen that you can identify those who are shameful and shameless members of the human race.
  2. Thanks for being a supportive friend and being there in these difficult times. Best additional help you could offer here is to write to IRCC in Ottawa and the Canadian Embassy of this consequence of their negligence and irresponsibility. This is what happens when you are a citizen of a country whose embassy staff spend half of their time drowning their pancakes with that disgusting syrup they harvest from Maple trees. Very grateful for the regimental Ordnung of my country's embassy in Silom. Passports there always arrive punctually from the Bundesdruckerei in Berlin.
  3. Unbelievable stupidity. Why would you declare the Malaysian events on a UK visa application?? Do not declare it. There is no record of it in Thailand or in the UK. Not even in the EU or Interpol. She's in bad hands with someone like you. Over-honest and paranoid.
  4. Won't argue. Responded to one of your two questions. The "or" gave me an option to respond to either of the two, regardless of whether I copied/pasted it from Wiki or the South Park Tribune or searched it on Boogle. Ach Mann, Stress ohne Ende. I'm too tired for this. Have a pleasant Chakri day
  5. Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, Macau and Singapore do not stamp passports upon entry nor exit.
  6. Mine works flawlessly. I transfer funds from my DKB account in Berlin to Revolut and never had issues from day 1 of having the account. I also top it up with my Miles & More card, earning me miles for such transactions. If it doesn't work flawlessly for others, there must be a reason. Money launderers come to my mind. Fraudsters hiding here in Thailand. Dodgy/fishy source of funds.
  7. Meanwhile, local primate specialists and conservationists have identified a window of opportunity here and are now frantically scouring the Thai Criminal Code for something/anything to legally bamboozle the Aussie. Dire times call for dire measures.
  8. Cringeworthy and clownish display of collective narcissism. The Swede was caught by being in the wrong place at the wrong time while the island's finest men just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
  9. There are certain people, albeit not that many, who can make a life-changing difference in this young man's life via their banking app or with a single stroke of a pen. For some, it won't even make a dent in their disposable income, let alone their ROI. If I had enough financial reserves to last me a hypothetical two lifetimes, I wouldn't hesitate to cover all costs.
  10. When I use my DKB card (German bank) I switch it on on the app, then immediately switch it back to off after the transaction. The app has a switch or toggle feature to allow not just disabling the card altogether but also temporarily disabling it when the card is not being used. The thing I love most is the geolocking feature. You can enable just one or more countries for the card and disable the rest. This means transactions done in other countries are rejected. For online payments, I use a virtual card which has a customisable spend limit. Pays to be paranoid. Thieves and scammers everywhere.
  11. I remember almost falling backwards after slipping on a wet driveway in front of the Phnom Penh condo I was staying in. The guy who cleaned it used soapy water without later hosing it off with clean water which meant it remained dangerously soapy. I nearly fell backwards and I wouldn't be alive or well enough to type this comment if I weren't fortunate to regain my balance when it happened. Slipping backwards is far more dangerous than a fall forward because of our arms' natural lack of ability to break such falls which can cause spine fractures and even life-ending head injuries. What ensued was bizarre. The guy who cleaned it laughed and laughed and laughed (that really snorty laugh interspersed with coughing fits). Didn't even bother to help, let alone apologize. Totally detached from the perils of that moment. This is one element of life that separates their world from ours.
  12. That unbreakable and inescapable vicious cycle of envy, greed and poverty.
  13. Oh the joys of applying for visas for travel to most first world countries. A once in a lifetime experience. Moments to cherish and treasure. Seriously, don't.
  14. Those wannabes cops/gods probably thought they had the upper hand. Good thing he lawyered up and took the matter a notch or notches higher. Well done.
  15. Strict departure formalities for locals. Even those with US and Schengen visas are not spared. They are fiercely protecting Uncle Sam's coveted Tier 1 designation on that annual TIP Report. The rest of ASEAN are woefully wanting in this respect. https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/20221020-2022-TIP-Report.pdf
  16. Meanwhile, a team from Burkina Faso bagged gold medals in alpine skiing.
  17. Don't get into ideas. Reserved occupation. No touching, no testing, no tasting. For locals only.
  18. Brouhaha of the year Endless drama and brawls. Thankfully i'm returning to Germany for good later this year. Sorely missing the peace and quiet of my Dorf in Rheinland Pfalz.
