German Man Charged With Theft After Taking Russian Woman’s Sunglasses
Thomas KH replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
The over-sensationalizing of such a trivial incident over a trivial item is bizarre and disproportionate. Certain acts of negligence deserve to be categorized as offences too which means she deserves a fair share of finger pointing. -
A certain country located south of Canada and north of Mexico. "money orders, magnetic stripe cards" too. Thing is I did half of my undergraduate studies in Chicago back in the 90s and when I wanted to get a transcript of my records, they wanted money orders or checks only. And a US address to send the documents to. Ended up abandoning that super complicated intergalactic mission.

Overstay and expiring passaport
Thomas KH replied to Tayida's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have a friend with this problem and the embassy advised him to first clear up the immigration issue before applying for a passport, apparently because a valid visa is a requirement for such an application. Absurd. Immigration won't touch his overstay paperwork with a ten foot pole unless they see a valid passport. -
Very sad. I had severe depression in the 1990s. Almost ended my life back then. Was lucky to have friends who recognized the signs. The young man is most likely dead, considering how many days he has been missing and the fact that he went overboard during frightful circumstances (darkness and rough seas).

Training to become a radiologist must be one of the most demanding work in medicine. You're not just a doctor but also a nuclear scientist. -
Tiny radioactive capsule goes missing in Western Australia
Thomas KH replied to Scott's topic in World News
Scary but also very impressive, the catastrophic consequences of that small capsule. They probably sealed off the roads and have half of the army sweeping all 1,400 km with a Geiger counter. The havoc our species can wreak is a monumental achievement in itself. -

uk visit visa for Thai sister in law - 2023
Thomas KH replied to sythai26's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I know this might be irrelevant because it concerns a case of applying for a visa to Germany but I believe their assessment procedures are identical, especially when it comes to that core requirement of proving the applicant's motivation or intention to return. When I sponsored someone's visa application, it was rejected despite all the strong supporting financial documents provided. The reason given was "your intention to leave the territory of the Member States before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained." Appealed and it was still not granted. The difficult part has nothing to do with the sponsor's resources but rather that part about rebutting the embassy's presumption of permanent migration.
