Koh Samui has long had a reputation for this and it’s also in Surat Thani province same as the famous Death Island/Koh Tao,a truly rotten and corrupt place? I wouldn’t invest in a banana there never mind a property portfolio,not for all the tea in China!

I did the Savannakhet visa run once as I'd been to Vientiane about fifteen times,this was back in the Thaksin days of free visas but I really enjoyed it. Savannakhet was a lovely,sleepy little town sat on the banks of the mighty Mekong River I would definitely recommend it. -

The Lao border guards' exchange rates are absolutely hilarious,I remember laughing along with the immigration guy one time at the Friendship Bridge border on the way to Vientiane? So basically make sure you have the right money in US Dollars! -
