Is cannabis legal for foreigners in Thailand? Know the rules
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've not smoked in 40 years and still disagree with the smoking ban in pubs but then again I do like the smell of the green leaf, and the smell of a 2 stroke motorbike engine..... -
Misunderstanding over actual size of lithium deposits found in Thailand
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Again I said cold weather. Then great for you and your blood battery car. Please don't crow. Why would I take photos of broken down EVs? 1st if you do something stupid like that in the UK you rightly loss 3 points on your licence. There is no reasoning with ev zealots as they sit in their own little echo Chambers attacking anyone who dares to say they are dangerous, ruinous of the environment and use child slave labour at the end of a gun to mine your precious minerals.... I personally would never let any of my family travel in one. But, you crack on...... try doing your own research... -
Misunderstanding over actual size of lithium deposits found in Thailand
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I said cold weather. However, hot weather also effects battery range due to the use of aircon and batteries also have an optimal operating tempreture. Do your own research or go back to school. It is the same with solar panels where to much sun and they degrade their output dramatically then you have wind turbines that only work in perfect wind speeds and need a diesel generator everytime they are started (kill birds also, try looking at the base of a wind turbine). Do your own research..... -

Misunderstanding over actual size of lithium deposits found in Thailand

I have a heat pump and believe me they are rubbish and i hate it but love my house. If you live in a country with tempretures less than 7° forget it. I'm paying £120 a week for electric during winter and when below 1° the tempreture can't get above 19° in my house (I know this because i have a smart meter and a thamometer next to my chair). My house is only 11 years old so we'll insulated. Plus, last year I had no heating for 3 months due to unskilled engineers and lack of parts available (it was a cold Christmas) lucky I have alternative heating like oil radiators, paraffin heater and calor gas. I live in Scotland. Run a mile from heatpumps.....- 73 replies

Concerns after two foreign women sunbathe in Chiang Mai temple
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Ah, defending the undefensible! The reaction of some Thai and supposedly farangs when so much in Thailand is far worse. The supposed non existing prostitutes both male and female accosting people as they walk on the streets, half naked girls sitting outside bars beckoning you inside but this is the charm of Thailand. So all who those who look for the hate just come out and be honest: Use just hate all foreigners and don't want them in Thailand, so just come out and say it!!! Oh wait you need their foreign currencies... -
Thai Restaurant Operators Ask Government to Unlock Alcohol Sale Hours
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The law was changed after the coup. You could buy alcohol from super markets between the magic hours if it was more than a certain amount. The change caught me out. Very annoying... -
Pattaya Ranks 7th Globally in Top Emerging Destinations List in 2024
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
What nonsense. I love Thailand and have a house there but my rose coloured glasses came off back in 2005. Thailand has some beautiful beaches but there is no soul or real roots as nothing over a couple of hundred years is standing. Rat infested streets sewerage just below your feet with the stink every few steps filling your nostrils. The dangers are everywhere from feral dogs "Rabies" , feral packs of Thai men waiting for any excuse to beat down 10 to one any tourist. Roads of death, lack of law in force ment and all tourists and expats are second class if they are lucky. Thailand is 3rd world so to say it is better than first world countries is xenophobic, racist rubbish. If I never had family in Thailand I would not set foot there because there are many more interesting places to visit or stay as long as you don't need to be a called "handsome man" as you walk down its red light streets... -
Sattahip Police Bust Alleged Endangered Sea Animal Smuggler
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Well that junk he has is dead. A couple of beaches in Kow Taow used to be covered with bleached out Coral 100 times nicer than that rubbish. If he beach combed and collected off the beac he is doing a service. -
British and Russian Motorcyclists Collide in Pattaya
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I bought my first motor bike when I was 17 some 54 years ago a CB 250. I love riding but don't like driving. I also found that biker's are some of the nicest people that I've met. -
Three ex-Bhumjaithai MPs banned by Supreme Court
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
But treason is fine (taking a country at the end of a gun) and being a convicted drug smuggler and self admitted member of Thai mafia is ok!!! -
I rode big bikes as the Thai's call them for years in Thailand and all went well. Rules for me were simple: everyone on the road was potentially going to kill me until proven otherwise, always wore proper gear and good helmet and tried to go easy on the throttle. I met and have some great thai friends from riding and going on trips. And last rule Never ever ride at night.

House police affairs panel to visit Police Hospital this Friday
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Any charges that were brought against Mr T are irrelevant due to the political persecution plus never ever forget the most serious of all is a soldier taking one's country at the end of a gun. When those who orchestrate a military coup "treason" are tried in a civil court and delt with accordingly then any and all charges brought against any duly elected PM are nonsense. -
American wanted for sharing explicit videos and abusing Thai women

Another keyboard hard man. -
Rather arrogant of you without knowing someone's circumstances. Looking down on people is rather pathetic. I know a guy in bkk who lives in what I would describe as poverty however he has many millions of baht invested. Only fools invest/ bring mass money into Thailand. Clever people keep the majority well out of thailands grip.

Chinese Tourist Dies after Snorkeling in Phang Nga
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
People do not realise how dangerous snorkeling is the second you dive under the water. It's when the swimmer is unaware of the build up of co2 in their blood. As the dver gets closer to the surface the co2 content expands as pressure of the water decreases on their body causing them to pass-out inches from the surface (no warning felt). When you pass-out you start to breath hence drown. When snorkeling stay on the surface always. More experienced scuba divers die snorkeling than from diving accidents! -
Thai student suffers brutal punishment for playing game in computer lab
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
You really need to reconsider your chosen career if you have even for a second thought of hitting a student. Having been a school teacher it never once crossed my mind to physically assault a child. I found depending on the offence, copying a paragraph or a page worked best and if persistent multiple offenders divide the class in two (this installed an air of competition) and simply mark each indiscretion and when behaviour was good rub the mark off (each mark represented a paragraph to copy). I found each team group policed themselves.
