British family leaves UK for Thailand for lower costs of living
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nice to see someone on here who has taken off the rose coloured glasses. To the man in Surrey (a very beautiful part of the UK), try Witherspoons its very cheap for food and booze, try some of the clubs. Booze in the shops is far cheaper than Thailand and more on offer. Wine, whisky, rum and bourbon never mind the beer quality. We left Thailand in 2019 and back then and headed back to the UK. I did the comparison in costs and it worked out far more cheaper to live in the UK. fuel is more expensive but in the UK I don't drive 60km a day on school run in a 3lt ford Everest, the education is far better in the UK and the opportunity for my children is far better. My daughter plays violin, horse ridding lessons 3 times a week and plays football for her school. I think it is very selfish when expats drag their children to thailand. I did shop in Tops and Big C as I refused to buy meat with flies crawling all over it. Do I love Thailand Yes, do I miss Thailand Yes and I miss my house in Thailand. However a month a year on holiday in Thailand is OK for now (4 months would be better). Yes I hate getting high energy bills but we are still better off because my children's future is high on my priority list. Oh and health care in Thailand is risky and very expensive (my car and big bikes were my health insurance in Thailand and that worked out well as I sold them when we left). My wife and children have private health care in the UK which is cheap, I'm to old and broken so just have NHS which is better than nothing. My car is also far cheaper in the uk than Thailand (top spec CX5 made in Japan (£36,000) far more expensive in Thailand. -
Two Thais Confirmed Dead in October 7 Hamas Attack
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How sad and people are anti IDF for doing what we should be doing. To beat terrorists you must use terror. The Russians had the right idea when their nationals were kidnapped for ransom . No Russian has ever been targeted since. All leaders of Hamas should be legitimate targets and regardless of the country giving them sanctuary, eliminated!!! -
Really! How many climate predictions have been massively wrong? 20, 30, 40++. Great lakes dry~ highest levels on record, no ice caps ~ ice cap growth, polar bear extinction ~ growth in population so much so they are breading with brown bears.... oh let's not talk about islands underwater, London under water, miami coastline underwater, that's the area certain cult members have multi million dollar beach front property! Anyone feeling stupid yet?

Elderly woman's buffalo herd goes missing in Buriram
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Nasty! Both derogatory to the Thai girl and to the poster who most likely posted a tongue in cheek comment. I take great offence at your comment as I'm married to a Thai woman (20 years) of exceptional moral character and well educated and never seen inside a bar. We have two children. So stop being nasty. Phew!!! -
Thailand Shuts 12 Marine Parks to Tackle Coral Bleaching Crisis
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The cult were screaming Global Warming causing the great barrier reef dying until it slipped out it was infact growing. The Cult changed their mantra to Climate Change. Something this spining rock has been doing for billions of years. Anyone for an Ice age? Trash and sewage kills reefs/corals. Dead coral is white. -

Public Indecency at Wat Phra Kaew Spurs National Outrage and Debate
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Disgusting and perverted taking a photo like that of a child. In the uk you would find yourself in court and quite possibly behind bars but most definatly on a register. -

Ridiculous comment. When a guest visits my home I don't try and take every last penny off them. Infact I treat them with reverence. People should be treated the same and not to do so is racist, xenophobic and very bad manors. -

Authorities Arrest Bar Owner for Alleged Minor Trafficking
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
First pimping children is despicable and those who do should recieve heavy sentences. My gripe is the over use of the term "Trafficking". Trafficking should mean taking someone of any age under force to another location whilst under lock and key then sold/used. That is being trafficked. Unwilling person. -

Death! And what happens when/if the guilty person is found innocent because the accuser has lied? -

Silly statement from someone who has been in Thailand a long time. Bar fines are a way of life in the bar scene and the 500baht fine is normal but normally paid just to take the girl to cover lost income. This 500 has nothing to do with negotiation with the prostitute. The strange part is taking the money from the girls. -

Luxury Mercedes Maybach Involved in 11.2M Baht Accident
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have always had 1st class insurance or my vehicles including big bikes (hate the term). However, after bing reversed into the side of my Everest the insurance company tried to only cover a fill and paint. No way! Replace the door. The guy was snake eye drunk and the police did nothing just let him drive off after admitting 100% fault. -

Another misguided remark. Educate yourself more because you have no idea. 90% of sex workers in Thailand is geared up for Thai only. On Rachada there are what I thought were massive very beautiful looking hotels. No they are brothels for only Thai men. Hairdresses provide more than cut and blow dry. And it's not only men. I used to stay in a condo and at night there was a restaurant with live singing and music. The posh cars would roll up and out would hobble old classy ladies "Thai". They would be entertained by young gigolo men who would sit and dance with them. It was fun to watch. Not seedy and the ladies were very jealous of others dancing with their gigolo. Ball room dancing not hand bags and the slosh. It is very much a Thai culture thing. Crazy how westerners try to put their idea of morals on a thousand year way of life. Sex is not thought the same in Thailand. Being a good husband means more to a Thai woman than being a young handsome man because they know they are all butterflies.

Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A money grab which will never see the benifit of tourism. Like already said "Thailand regress not progress". The amount of money pumped into Thailand by America during the Vietnam war, money donated in the aftermath of disasters and of course tourism including expats and you still can't walk down a sidewalk and forget it if you are in a wheelchair! Thailand should have been another Japan or definatly another South Korea....
