Police Chief Targets Dr. Bun, Reckless Events, and Arrogant Foreigners
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why? The people of Thailand voted him into office at the ballot and not at the end of a gun! Thailand prospered GDP 14% +, (64 baht to Stirling pound), English levels in schools was much higher and life was good for expats. Oh and a Triton 4x4 was only £11,000. -
Sole searching: Foreign man’s shoes stolen from Thai beach - video

Really! Both my wife and I have and ride big bikes in Thailand. You obviously have to be very careful and expect the unexpected as you do in any vehicle in Thailand. I have found great roads and great friends who share our love of two wheels. But suppose in your eyes we are idiots! Better you live your dull, uneventful life hitting keys in you little safe space! -

Ex-Thai PM Yingluck to face legal proceedings on return home
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
She did nothing wrong. You can not blame her for what others did. The rice pledging scheme in theory was sound and good (Remember Joseph and his technicolour coat) it was the dishonesty of those involved. Plus she did the right thing and called an election but the generals wanted control so rounded up the politicians and held them at gun point. They gave themselves powers that any dictator would dream of, rewrote the constitution and arrested anyone who dared question them. Even removing a brase plack that had been in place for decades. Maybe the question should be "Where did the money go from the sale of the rice?" Also, how can generals become billionaires on a very modest salary? -
I can just remember when Rabies turned up in England 1970 and immediately within a 2 mile radius men went out and shot foxes, badgers and any stray dogs. However, we do have rabies in bats. One recent death was a naturist who got bit and stupidly did not go to the doctor. What a way to die! The thought gives me nightmares.

British Tourist Found Dead in Phuket Drainage Ditch

What a shock you are going to have when your rose coloured glasses clear. Light has to be shone on the problems in Thailand for them to be fixed. I personally want Thailand to do better because it will benifit all. -
Egyptian Tourist Arrested for Sexual Assault in Luxury Condo Lift

A rather big stretch calling Thailand a democratic country? Military takeover just around the corner and don't forget the current government was not the government that won the election. -
British Tourist Found Dead in Phuket Drainage Ditch

Nasty people jump straight to Blaming the foreigner "He must be drunk"! Try looking at the photo. Barrier, that is a little exaggerated, look at it, it's almost knee hight at the large step. Path is also unsafe with several area's one could trip resulting in one tripping. The other fact is its outside a hospital. Maybe he was going to the hospital, tripped and died. This should never have happened, the drain should have been covered, no massive steps and flat smooth sidewalks. Thailand inferstructuer is 3rd world at best except for sky train and MRT. Let us not forget the possibility of being nocked in by a motorbike driving on the path. Lots of possibilities. Stop Blaming foreigners.- 97 replies

Like many on here! Why did he provoke a beat down? Maybe because he is a Brit, or a tourist? In my youth I had many, many fights and those injuries are over the top for a cheeky slap. That's a disgusting attack on someone who was most likely unable to defend himself. I will pray that your in a similar situation soon.

Thaksin Negotiates for Paetongtarn Amid Potential PM Suspension
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You mean like generals overthrowing and taking a country at the end of a gun? Or maybe ordering the temple shooting and disappearing a very brave nurse? Or what about corruption so extensive and blatant that protesters were thrown in prison. Watches and massive land purchase suspected to be payment!!! If the people elect someone then that person represents the people. This is typical Thai, if loss cheat! -
When I was building my house in Thailand I did a lot of research and one thing I found interesting was that US citizens were allowed to own land in Thailand to build a house on due to an agreement they had to make with America. However, upto that date 2010 no land office in Thailand had granted said right of ownership of land to an American!!!

Thailand Cracks Down on Foreigners Using Thai Nominees

It must be legal! A loophole yes but illegal, no! All this fuss, simple answer is close the loophole and job done! But wait, that would drive away money/business and the collection of those nice fat brown envelopes.... -

UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's already happening. Banks in the uk will close your account if not resident in the UK. And, as Farage and many others with the wrong politics also have their Bank accounts closed all the while the people of Britain own controlling shares of a major bank! Banks = legal criminals. If you or I did what banks do we would be locked up for fraud! Imagine for every £ in your wallet you could magic 10 more. -
Bangkok Adapts 'London Model' for Traffic Congestion Fees
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
You can't be that blind? It's all to do with collecting more money. Yes a very good idea about delivery times. However, this will never happen, because there these charges will cause such a backlash. Thai governments hate upsetting the public unless they have guns and tanks, mmmm, nope, infact their also scared of the masses. -

This whole thing seems strange. Has it taken 40 years or were the crimes just reported after 40 years? If this is after 40 years this should scare every man because all it would take is some disgruntled or jealous person from your past that wants to destroy you. How can you defend yourself? God I struggle to remember what I ate 2 days ago. I know this is kiddy fiddling which is disgusting but it could easily be rape and if you didn't know in the uk if you take a girl home, even if girlfriend she is up for fun and she has had a drink (not drunk) then later she says "I didn't want sex". The man is charged with rape. After 40 years!!!

British Man Injured in Pattaya Road Rage Incident with Thai Driver
BritScot replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
What a comment. Nasty, nasty person at best self hate at worst xenophobia. I am British and have 5 tattoos so I must also be one of your despicables? Well I'm privately educates and was able to comfortably retier before I was 55. Second yes, I lived and still have a house in a village and over the 8 years I lived there: 15 year old shot in the head over a girl, man stabed to death at a party for insulting a man by giving one baht to the guy singing, another stabbed to death for giving advice to a guy whose wife had left him. Just before we built our home a young lad murdered in a drug dispute. All were thai on thai murders. Oh my lawyer friend "Barrister" also has tattoos. Never judge books by their cover. In that 8 years 3 drive by shootings into thai businesses through jealousy. Two people were shot, wounded. Then there was the shootout at a club, one dead! Take off the rose coloured glasses, your not in Kansas Dorothy or is it Toto? -
Thai woman arrested in Bangkok for pimping out girls aged 14-16
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Just wondering, do you live in Thailand? And if you do, do you live under a rock? Thailand looks at sex differently than we do in the West! Even some hairdressers will turn a trick or two. I remember in my village a girl who just turned 16 married a Thai guy 55. People in the village thought it was good because the guy helped her parents financially. 14 an 15 year old girls often marry . The dowry paid and wedding party held. Mind you most are single again in a few years, bady with grandparents and girl off working... that's Thailand.
