Thai Government Enforces Strict Measures on Illegal Employment Practices
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Start persecuting workers because the owners do not want to pay for work permits will back fire as it has in the past. Have they forgotten the exodus of labourers last time.e they did this and thailands building industry ground to a halt!! -
This worked well during Mr T. years. Emphasis on education by native English teachers most of whom had to use monthly border hops as schools did not want to spend on work permits. Coincidentally during this time Thailand was climbing the English proficiency ladder. Everything change with the coup!!!

You don't really know Thailand or have a short memory! 2019? The 400k/800k rule was almost immediately brought in. I had lived in Thailand for over 8 years, built a house etc then came this gem over night! With the rumours of compolsory health insurance. Anyone willing to print a target on their backs when Thais were known to be tortured bank accounts emptied then murdered for a meer 100k baht. No thank you.

Swiss Expat Sentencing in Phuket Set for September 3rd
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
What nonsense! Just because he is an idiot isn't a reason to hang draw and quater him, especially when groups of Thai men who beat tourist old age pensioners nearly to death and get a 500baht fne and a wai! Justice for all. Note: Never settle in Thailand and invest more than you can walk away from. -

I think he already tried that and her family said "No!" -
Paetongtarn Shinawatra to be Nominated as Thailand's New PM
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Very well put! I think you missed out the army's criminal part in causing this mess. T was doing OK for the people even though the expats hated him included me. Some even cheered when the tanks rolled in (not me). The army screwed up so badly (who would have thought it) that turned Mr T into Saint T where if left alone he would have ran his course and the same with his sister. I would say "let the people decide, but the judicial corruption and biased leanings even put an end to that. -
I looked at this some years ago and basically shocked me. I had a very good income and a "A" credit rating in Thailand (3 car loans and 3 motorbike loans) but the bank/credit card wanted me to give them 50,000baht and then would lend me my money and charge me interest on it! My reply was "you must be mad". So! We took a credit card out in my wifes name with zero income but married to me a foreigner and she got 50,000baht credit card. No wonder Thailand is in a banking mess. A banking system when I think back to 2002 my first thai bank account, has regressed and not progressed.

Ask the expats that question! 90 day reporting, annual application with reams of photo copying information that they already have then sprinkle ever changing rules with a few days/weeks notice.... yep it's anything close to easy oh and let's not forget the 400,000/800,000 baht sitting in a Thai bank which has been known to leak!!! My Thai wife in the UK has nothing like that to go through and can work any job she likes.

British Tourist Assaulted and Robbed on Bangla Road in Patong
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
What more do you need to know? A 62 year old tourist was beaten up and robbed of his bag and a gold chain worth 120,000baht! Do you think anything can justify that? -
Rising Temperatures Threaten Thailand's Economy, Tourism, and Future
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You were on the right track until you fell into the "human causing climate warming". Very arrogant to think we humans can cause anything on earth due to the fact we are but an ants fart on the back of a buffalo. The big shiny thing in the sky causes over 97% of weather/global tempretures etc, animals less than 1% and volcanoes cause far more changes. Co2 levels have been more than double the current levels and as for sea levels the have been far higher and lower. Then there are inconvenient facts like the industrial revolution and world wars. Just stop and take a look at the properties owned by those so called elite screaming about climate change and their property portfolio's which include multi million $ beach front properties or island that 20 years ago they were saying would be covered by water. Ask the question, can you get 30 year mortgages in London or even Bangkok etc? Every single climate scare has failed to materialise, so how many before you can call it a Hoax? -
British tourist missing after trip to Bangkok found safe in Finland
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why? He is an adult male who is living his life the way he wants. It was other people who believed they had the right to know his every move. I used to head out to work on a Thursday only returning home on a Tuesday and when I joined the Army at 20 I would be out of contact for months and that continued after I left the army. My family let me live my life knowing I was able to take care of myself. It's his family who panicked. Let men become adults!!! -
Thai PM Dismisses US Criticism of Move Forward Party Dissolution
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Come on America, start taking a very close look at Thailands banks, money laundering, slavery, copyright, and strategic value (Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore are better value for the $). Thailand and other similar countries simply take for granted the millions given to them Free, just stop giving it. -
Belgian Man Rescued from Locked Car After Fan Drains Battery
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
In most newish and older cars the hood release in a mechanical release. You pull!!! Also in most cars there is a way to open the drivers door without the aid of battery power. My neighbour a week ago had the same problem and the local mechanic helped her, explained what to do. Nothing smashed. New battery and on her way. -
Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
BritScot replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why such hate for other people? So much bitterness, you must be a hoot at the coffee shop! Never ever judge a book by its cover: be it Thai or foreign. I've met millionaires, doctors, lawyers etc at motorbike rallies as well as people with not much money doing what they love all mixing together. Get off your high horse!!! -

Swedish elderly arrested in Thailand for serious crime

Try researching before posting: a group of retired OAP's were arrested in Pattaya for playing Bridge some years ago. The shakedown went pear-shaped when a good old girl refused to pay!!! -

The question I always have is; why is big tech not charged for storage of images and disseminating, because if they were not there, nonces wouldn't be able to down load? Big tech can find and block/delete your account for saying hurty words but not people making money from illegal child porn! -
Polish man arrested for ganja LED grow lights theft in Chiang Mai
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I kind of believe the Polish guy. I've seen this done to good people many times before. They help set up a business believing they had a partnership only for the local/other party turn on them and run to the police with some charge. Hope he kept receipts/documents. -
Drug-fuelled British man torments partner over alleged affair: Jailed
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So many dismiss his claim about his wife and father. If this is true it would eat away at any normal man. She has always had the choice to go back to thailand but obviously doesn't want too. He seems a bit of an idiot but in the UK if you even look the wrong way at your partner/wife in your own house you can get lifted by the police. Women have all the power in the uk. Oh if she has no permanent residency visa, citizenship or children she may well get kicked out of the UK and that maybe why she stayed around. A domestic non story. -

Very strange. Brittish males, are not known for having fragile male ego's! Infact quite the opposite. -
Hot-Tempered Neighbour Slaps Teenager For Unfriending Him On Facebook
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Definitely need to change those Rose Coloured Glasses! Women in Thailand are and always have been below men. Sit and have a meal with a Thai family and you will see the oldest male served first then other males. Infact at gatherings quite often women still eat separate after serving the men. Look at the bank and who are tellers and who are in offices. -
Expats angry at huge concessions in latest Thai visa announcements
BritScot replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I got my first bank account in Thailand with a 30 day holiday visa and even got a triton pickup on finance doing 30 day visa runs (waiting for a work permit that never arrived). I've never had a problem opening a bank account in Thailand.
