You can't have it all. The "pesky" tourists allow many businesses to thrive, especially restaurants. The perfect paradise doesn't exist so be grateful for what you now have in Thailand.

66-year-old motorcyclist loses finger after rear-ending sedan
HuskerDo2 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
"Sun’s pinky finger on his left hand was cut off"..... thank goodness it wasn't his middle finger. No one can do without two of those. -
"Tens of thousands of people are expected to travel domestically using buses during the upcoming three-day holiday weekend"...... Can you see a disaster waiting to happen? Tens of thousands of people want to get on buses in Thailand over a three day period and people think it will go well. Let me look in my crystal ball... yes, I see tens of thousands of very angry people.

"they arrested Mr. Michal Kamil Wielebinski, 37, a Polish national"..... He's 37 and is there on a "student visa"? What is he, a career student? Even doctors graduate and start practicing by age 26. When they let people into the country, they need to use common sense. In this case, a 37-year-old on a student visa should have been scrutinized.

Thai PM vows not to tolerate corruption in government bureaucracy
HuskerDo2 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"The World Bank's 2020 Control of Corruption Index ranks Thailand 95th out of 190 countries, indicating a moderate level of corruption."..... I guess if 99 out of 100 people are corrupt it is considered a "moderate" level of corruption. It isn't considered a high level of corruption until it hits 100 out of 100. -
They must think they are big tough men attacking a small woman and dumping acid on her face. I hope when they find them they do the same to them and then cut off their "Polish sausages" and force them down their throats. Men who abuse women or children should have their "private part" removed as a warning to anyone else who ever tries to abuse those weaker than them. Makes me sick to read stories like this.

If it's sent via priority mail at the USPS there is tracking for the package and you know when it arrives. $9.90 Quit being so negative.

"Around 1.8 million Vietnamese would suffer from cognitive decline in 2050 amid a rapidly aging population, an Australian expert has warned.".... WOW! Brilliant research. How much were you paid to come up with this stunning revelation? I think anyone with the tiniest bit of common sense already knew this but thanks all the same Sherlock.

Will they have the bar girl rides again this year? That's my favorite ride of all.

Sending money to Thailand
HuskerDo2 replied to Mac Mickmanus's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
That does make it more convenient. Just be sure they have your name right. What I mean is that if the recipient knows you as Joe but WU puts you in the system as Joseph because that's what's on your driver's license (or whatever you give them to prove who you are) then the recipient will be denied because they gave the wrong name. I know it sounds funny but it's a foreign country and they likely don't know the short versions of proper names in the Western world (i.e. Joe/Joseph, Tom/Thomas, Bill/William, etc) Good luck. Should be a piece of cake. -

Yep. All they need is the senders name, the amount sent and the confirmation number. Easy. -

Western Union is an excellent choice. I've used it numerous times. It'll be there before you get home. -
"After looking around, Wuttisak told The Pattaya News he found 3-4 makeshift tents and one family consisting of a father and his two daughters aged 4 and 14 years old. The homeless family was cramped in one tent, which concerned Wuttisak, so he stated he would try to contact the mother to come and pick up the daughters."..... In what way is this logical? Does he think the mother is in a nice comfy home with a refrigerator full of food awaiting the girls? Is she magically going to show up in her Mercedes to take them home for a warm bath? There's a reason she isn't around and she isn't any better off than the rest of the family. The fact that he said he'll "try" to contact the mother tells he is clueless as to where she is. He's the deputy mayor and is with officials from the Chonburi homeless center yet they didn't even have the common sense to invite them to go to the homeless center. Crazy.

I doubt they are complaining about your condition and person habits so why belittle them? Geezer sounds a tad rude. Just call them elderly gentlemen and be more respectful.

"there is now a very good online website for reporting every 90 days".... but please explain why this is even necessary. Only the honest people follow the rules so why make the host people jump thru another unnecessary hoop (even if some think it's not much of an inconvenience). I think they should reward the honest people and find a way to crack down on those who are cheating the system. Same with leaving the country for a day. If the reason is to get them out of the country so they don't have to let them back in that's nuts. Just revoke the visa, drive them to the airport and watch them get on a plane to anywhere out of the country. Give the honest law-abiding people a break.

Pheu Thai Party unveils its 10-point “think big” manifesto
HuskerDo2 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I thought they said it was a "think BIG" manifesto. I doubt any of these points will be met. Just talk to make themselves sound good. Kind of like the US Congress. -
A rapper is more important that the many nurses that work double shifts to take care of the sick? More important than a mother who works two jobs to care for her children? More important than a grandmother who raises her grandchildren to be decent human beings after their parents go MIA due to drug problems? More important than the women in law enforcement that protect the community? I could go on and on but Thaibeachlovers nailed it in his response above. Such a sad world we live in where priorities and levels of importance in society are skewed so badly.

It amazes me that they still have 90 day reporting and all the other silly rules for a law abiding Farang to stay there. Just like having people leave the country for one day only to return. WHAT IS THE POINT? What does that really accomplish and how does it improve the validation that someone is abiding by the rules and not being a problem for the country. The good/honest people are doing the 90 days reporting. The bad guys who overstay aren't. So find a better process Thailand. Quit treating the honest guests of your country like criminals and more like they are welcome.

Ask the cutest girl in the store to help you translate and you might end up with a date.
