  1. good luck pretending you're not worth 100 million
  2. nah, they do when's the last time you been back there?
  3. that kind of money requires a lot of intelligence and wisdom and maturity to manage or it can bring a lot of trouble. you would need to know how to distribute it among family to avoid squabbles ... good luck with that kind of money.
  4. maybe they've had harsh lives. russia also has some of the worst climate in the world. it might be miserable to live there. i don't smile that much anymore. it's not good to show everyone that you are too friendly. it can be interpreted as a sign of weakness by unscrupulous people. unless you're in the tourist industry and you need to pick people's pockets.
  5. the downside of smiling is you need to guess if the smile is authentic or fake. so there is an upside to a society where no one smiles.
  6. is urged .... ha yeah, because it tarnishes image. not because people's lives might be in danger.
  7. we're all bombarded with information which no one but you is responsible for blocking out. regarding this thread, it was started impulsively. the main message was that several flight paths are odd, maybe suspicious ... but let's leave it at that and not infer anything any further. that's about as much time and energy i want to put into this topic.
  8. so sleeping with a married woman is morally acceptable to you. after all that preaching.
  9. Frankie's Inn is on TikTok
  10. some of the things on your list are valid points. a lot are tourist attractions which a long-term resident will not make much use of. for folks who can't discipline themselves with the endless bar scene, pattaya will just be bars all the time. not a healthy life.
  11. yeah. well, maybe KFC sounds cooler. but i'm pretty sure they wanted to hide the "fried" part. or maybe I'm just full of it.
  12. KFC dropped its original name because "Fried" is a bad word.
  13. why do they panic? media manipulation, right? so it's almost the same thing, sort of. indirectly.
  14. you've detected a pattern of crashes in autumn? could be. markets seem somewhat rigged to me.
  15. ok thanks. i forgot to check the date that blog was written.
  16. how do you know that? inside information? you're the Amazing Kresgin?
  17. what was she doing? playing footsie under the table with her 'friend' with the husband next to her?
  18. its proximity to bangkok.
  19. I did some more research. This blog is worth a read. Mentions the raid in Chiang Mai. Some of this information is coming from a lawyer. http://guroo.asia/can-a-digital-nomad-work-in-chiang-mai/ some key points: Immigration needs to prove in court that someone is breaking the law to get them deported Immigration is now actively collecting this evidence for future arrests to provide proof What is the criteria Immigration investigators are concerned about? Anyone working from anything that can be defined as a ‘Office”. This includes condos converted into Offices (as in the Skype English Teachers) and spaces deemed to look like an Office (rented enclosed working spaces in coworking spaces) and actual rented Offices Anyone who publicly states they are working in Thailand as a digital nomad without a work permit. Investigators are looking at Forums, Facebook groups, Nomad seminars with a fee, and personal blogs – and collecting evidence What are Immigration investigators not concerned about? Visitors who are holidaying in Thailand as part of an extended overseas vacation People working from inside their own condo or apartment People working in open cafe (something that does not resemble an office) People without a history of living here repeatedly People who are working and not openly promoting they are breaking the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand.
  20. this is a good article. https://nomadtalk.net/digital-nomad-visas-why-theyre-not-going-to-happen-and-why-most-nomads-wouldnt-want-them-to/ some key points: there is no grey area; unless your visa specifically allows you to work in a country (or you have another legal right to work there) then working is illegal. It does not matter if you’re not taking work from locals. It does not matter if you’re paid overseas. There are no loopholes. If you don’t have the right to work – working is illegal. Having said this: most countries are never going to check whether you are working and as long as you keep moving around and act sensibly (don’t boast about working illegally, for example) nobody is likely to give you any hassle as a digital nomad. A lack of a digital nomad visa means no harassment at immigration and no real need to declare yourself a digital nomad and pay taxes.
  21. so what? positive people make the best of any situation. but you and OP are clearly nothin' but whingers!
  22. so the 'american accent farang' approached you for no apparent reason? haha, sounds like an episode of Twilight Zone. if it's a true story, consider yourself lucky. you had some action. people acting strange ... inexplicable behavior. a welcome break from the dull routine.
  23. Other countries have more progressive policies for digital nomads. Hopefully Thailand will catch up ... Bermuda is offering a "Work From Bermuda Certificate". It's a one year digital nomad visa with no income requirements. The govt knows you're working online and it's all on the up and up. https://forms.gov.bm/WFB If you are working remotely from home, please take the opportunity to explore the option of working remotely from Bermuda for the next year.
