  1. Yes, unless your Permission to stay was based on a MultipleEntry Visa, you current Permission to stay will be voided when departing Thailand without a Re-Entry Permit, forcing you to apply from scratch again. Note that sometimes such error can be a blessing in disguise, as it allows you to apply for long-term stay Visa that might be more fitting for your situation. E.g switching from Retirement to Marriage or Dependant Thai children, or applying for a 1-year ME Visa instead of a 90-day SingleEntry one. Obviously, whether it would be beneficial for you to apply for a different type Visa would depend on your particular situation, so you could provide the details of your current Visa-status and pesonal situation and request info on possible alternatives.
  2. Love it when the wolves are fighting each other to ensure a bigger piece of the cake. Such legal battles often result in the issuing of damaging information meant to hurt the other party but actually backfiring on both of them when the dirty laundry is exposed. Let the spectacle begin!
  3. There are approx 12 flights daily from BKK airports to Ubon Ratchathani Airport. Approx half from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and other half from Don Muang Bangkok Airport (DMK). When you have a ticket for a flight at the 'other' airport, there is a free shuttle-bus service between both airports (bus rides every hour and takes approx 1.5 hour). From Ubon it's only 100 km to Yasothon, and Ubon metered taxis are quite cheap (the trip would cost you approx 1.500,- THB). Re luggage > Instead of paying heavily for overweight, you could consider when in Suvarnuabhumi to go to the Departures hall on the 4th floor and at the end of the counters a bit hidden there at the back there is a Thai Post office. I always use them when I arrive with my 30 kilo luggage from Europe, and send 15kg or more of stuff I do not immediately need to my home-address in Sisaket, so that I do not have to carry it anymore and can avoid the pricy overweight domestic airline charges. ThaiPost is dirt cheap (less than 400,- TB including the carton box and the sealing of the stuff, and the pakage often has already been delivered at my doorstep when I arrive at my Sisaket home (100 km from Ubon) after having stayed a night in Ubon.
  4. Looks like we all agree - except for the 2 UK Members of Parliament - that the mRNA covid-shots are the best thing slnce sliced bread. Keep on jabbing!
  5. It's not fully clear from @paddypower's post whether the 400K he mentions, is meant to cover the 2 month + consideration period from a Marriage extension, or the 7 'in between' months from a Retirement extension. I presumed he was staying on a Non Imm O Retirement extension, as he would only need +400K during the 2 months pre-application + consideration period when on a Marriage extension.
  6. Better leave 401.000 THB on your Thai bank-account, in case 'annual account admin costs' are deducted by the Bank with the risk of slipping under the 400K tresshold when you have to little buffer.
  7. The video recordings of the speeches of both MP's (Andrew Bridgen and Dany Kruger) are available on Parliamentlive.TV , which broadcasts all British Parliament proceedings. AseanNow members can access them and judge for themselves whether these two MP's are peddling mis/dis-information.
  8. Here the clip of the 16' speech that MP Danny Kruger delivered on 18 April 2024 for - once again - an almost empty British Parliament. The comments on that speech are twofold: 1 - Kudos to Danny Kruger for having the courage to address that very real 'Hot Potato' issue. 2 - Anger and disgust for the absence of MPs and the disgraceful conduct of the Speaker of the House. The speech itself goes beyond the Excess Deaths scandal, and addresses the accountability for the covid jab-response and questions the immunity of Pfizer/Moderna in light of what was known but not revealed to the unsuspecting public.
  9. That's correct, and it means that unless you already started to do these +40K monthly transfers from abroad you won't be able to meet the 12 monthly transfers criterium to do the switch. Also be aware as another poster mentioned that not all Imm Offices do allow to switch method, or might have some additional requirements that need to be met when they would allow it. So best to talk to your local Imm Office to learn about their requirements.
  10. Indeed, no problem at all. But it is highly recommended not to close your Thai bank-account, as having a bank-account when visiting Thailand is not only handy but you might need it when dealing with Thai Immigration when you decide to return to Thailand long-term.
  11. At my small SiSaKet Imm Office they never asked me to provide a hand-dawn map to my place (which is approx 70 kms from the Imm Office). When I renewed my 1-year extension of stay a couple of months ago, the friendly Imm Officer asked whether I had a mobile phone and if I could show on Google maps where my address was. I am not very dexterious with that so he asked whether he could use my phone. He typed in my address, went on Street-view and virtually drove in the small soi where my home is, and then asked whether the house on the street-view where he stopped was my address. And on my confirmation he made 2 snapshots of our house with house-number visible and did then forward those snapshots with the exact GPS locations to his own phone. Took less than 1 minute! Needless to say that I was duly impressed.
  12. Normally when you already have a Savings Account at your local Bank branche, there is no problem at all to open a Fixed Deposit Account at that same branche. Note that when wanting to use it for evidence of the 800K/400K funds required by Thai Immigration for Non Imm O Visa/extensions for reason of retirement, that you should be careful when transferring the funds from your current Savings Account that you do no slip - even for one moment - under the required tresshold on that Savings account. To make absolutely sure that doesn't happen, you could do as follows: 0 - Three months after you received your 1-year Permssion to stay you are allowed to lower the amount on your personal Thai bank-account to 400.000,- THB. 1 - So after those 3 months you transfer 401K from your Savings account to your Fixed Deposit account, while making sure that there is still more than 400K on your Savings account. 2 - Wait 1-2 days and then transfer once again 401K from you Savings account to your Fixed Deposit account, which would now have +800K in funds (always best to have a couple 1.000 THB extra to avoid slipping under the tresshold because of bank-transaction fees). 3 - When applying for your 1-year extension of stay based on your Non Imm O Visa for reason of retirement, do bring the Bank Account statements of BOTH accounts, as well as both Passbooks of these accounts with you. Depending on your Imm Office you might also have to bring copies of all transactions being done on these accounts. And some Imm Offices want you to also provide a 1-year Transactions statement showing all funds-movements of these accounts during the 1 year preceding your application.
  13. Note that you could also apply in your home-country for a 60-day Tourist eVisa. Once in Thailand, such 60-day Tourist Visa allows you to apply at your local Imm Office for a 30-day extension of stay, and at the end of those 30 days you could then apply for a 60-day extension of stay for reason of visiting your wife (note that it has to be done in that order). That would also provide you with 150 days of stay in Thailand without the need for any border-hops.
  14. If he is staying in Thailand on a Tourist Visa (or entered VisaExempt), he doesn't need to notify the local Imm Office, by filing a TM30. In that case it is the owner of the place where he is residing who is supposed to do that. Being on a Tourist Visa, he would only need a copy of the TM30 filed by the place where he is residing to apply for a 30 day extension of stay at the local Imm Office.
  15. I recall some of your previous posts. You wrote that you are on 60 days Multiple Entry Visa, have not heard about that one before. I only know the 60 days Single Entry Visa or the 6-month Multiple Entry Visa, the latter one actually providing you with almost 9 months of stay in Thailand from first entry, when you carefully plan the 60-day Permissions to stay it provides with each entry.
  16. Judging from the comments, the enthusiasm for this new 'scientific breakthrough' is not exactly overwhelming. And with good reason considering the loss of trust by the public in those organizations pushing the real-time jab on the world. Fool me once...
  17. I only have very positive experiences with ThaiPost. Very customer friendly and efficient service staff wherever I make use of them. And when sending packages, they as good as always arrive next day or day after (even when sent from Bangkok to my address in the sticks). Banking and immigration are dreadful but In my experience ThaiPost is one of the only Thai service organizations that deserves praise, and I have used them at least 20 times already always with same excellent service/performance. Am I just lucky?
  18. Yes, on ThaigerTalk you can trash Trump or Biden without any moderator interference. Free Speech also pertains to speech you don't like. And of course it results in interesting discussions as well as mud-slinging.
  19. Me too was banned there by the power-tripping Mods on ThaigerTalk, but mid November I was invited again to rejoin as things had changed drastically (all the Mods except the only fair decent one got the boot). And none of my posts have been deleted/altered since, so ThaigerTalk's current Free Speech policy is not 'words in the wind' (several members that wanted me banned for my posts got a friendly Free Speech remember from the Head Moderator).
  20. ThaigerTalk - the forum of The Thaiger - is dedicated to Free Speech with little to no moderation. Only when members report breaches/complaints a Moderator will look at the case and make a fair decision with TT's Free Speech policy as over-riding principle. Will be interesting to see how that will affect AseanNow's current moderation approach.
  21. @pattjock > Be aware that there is the 'official' procedure, and how that procedure is being interpreted and/or amended with additional requirements by the local Imm Office where you plan to apply for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa.
  22. I read that there are some land-crossing borders where you can buy a Re-Entry Permit, but I wouldn't bet on it. Most probably you will not be able to travel in 1 day from entering Thailand in the North from Laos to exiting Thailand in the South to Malaysia. So your best option would probably be that you stay at a Hotel guesthouse somewhere midway on your journey, and ask the Hotel/Gueshouse for a copy of the TM-30 they are required to make of a farang staying at their premises. And then head with that TM-30 go to the Imm Office in the same Province where your hotel/guesthouse is located, and then buy a Re-Entry Permit there. Obviously the choice of Hotel/Guesthouse should preferably be close to that provincial Imm Office.
  23. Yes, that's correct. When applying first time for the Non Imm O Visa/extension for reason of retirement, using the +800K Funds in Bank Method, you only need to provide evidence that the funds on your personal Thai bank-account originated from abroad (and where seasoned the required time). And that foreign-origin evidence only needs to be provided the first time you apply, and is not required anymore when applying for later 1-year extensions, where it would be just a matter of providing evidence that the funds continually stayed on a personal Thai bank-account and did meet the +800k/+400K requirement as applicable.
  24. Thanks, would be interesting to hear whether your 1-year 'retirement' extension application is accepted using the +65K Monthly Income Transfer method, at the Jomtien Imm Office with NO pension statement. Keep us informed...
