Should co-owners pay for EV scooter charging.
Shop mak replied to Cricky's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
The one with nasty comments is you, I noticed some of your post was 'edited' since last night. Still you continue today??? Yoy assumed yesterday that we who disagree with you are poor angry bitter old men. While infact many of us, we actually own condo! And we know, HOW we would approach any problem we consider major. Again, while our juristic office don't allow all request, far from it, we asked and got permission. -

WHY you feel the need to attack all posters who don't agree with you? Your never ending snide remarks, still continue. You're full of nonsense. Juristic sure don't say yes to all request, and if you are actually a owner of condo's, (Plural) you should know better than write this. My POINT IS, you make a mountain out of a tiny stone. Less than 5 EV scooters parked in most buildings, and you create this huge storm out of nothing. 1 baht per owner per year currently - is what you create this huge issue about. You insult others left and right, again and again, by calling them 'old bitter poor farang, on small pension, without education'. Don't you realize that your attacks on others are unessessary and uncalled for? (Rhetoric question) Doesn't take much effort (seconds) to take a pic or two, to demonstrate the high numbers of 'these electric thieves', that irritate you so much. Maybe then, we could see that you have a point (if 50+ EV scooters). Not many parked in your building I guess, so you play the 'effort card'. Pathetic. -

Most if not all juristic office demand that all vehicles are registered with them, before get a sticker. Documentations required. Anyone and everyone can't access parking area, as some wrote earlier. Some juristic offices don't allow any EV scooter due to fire hazard. These cheap chinese scooters had many fire incidents, no doubt about that. Better more expensive models are available now (images) Juristic / security staff in a well run condo building take photos of all vehicles, so they know what type of vehicles are parked there. * EV scooter owners must ask juristic to parking and use electric outlet to charge their scooter. It' not theft. Juristic has been asked, and allow it. It's not unlawful when juristic says ok. Within 1-3 year, juristic have to build charging stations - condo owners will have to pay for this - and some kind of electric meter or coin machine, that the individual EV scooter owner have to pay themselves. OP should use time talking with other condo owners. Can OP persuade enough owners to sign a petition to juristic management, this would be the way forward. Don't play the "theft card", but rather proof the case about the actual "fire hazard". Collect as many news reports and videos of incidents with EV scooters as possible. Secondary reason should be lack of payment charging stations, for EV scooters. Present this, together with petition signed by many condo owners, and OP might / might not, get the result OP want, in next meeting. My friends tell me, less than 5 EV scooters parked in their condo buildings around town, hardly reason for concern at the moment. How many EV scooters are actually parked in OP's parking area - can you please upload photo for us to see? -

Indeed you do: 1 baht per condo owner per year, if 200 units. 0,20 baht year, if 1000 condo units. No wonder you are upset. You create a huge debate and call these people thieves - for what? For 0,20 baht/year, to 1 baht per year. Really? Thieves? Are you serious, or only winding us all up? This is a serious question. This topic is beyond ridiculous, and funny. Fire Hazard would be a much better argument for discussion about EV scooters, but not 0,20-1,04 baht year for each condo owner. Some day all condo owners has to pay for designated parking stations with electric outlets, for all types of EV vehicles. That will hit all condo owners wallet much more. Even more, if fire-proof area for each vehicle are required. -

The actual cost to charge 1 EV scooter: 208 baht Per Year. (from personal experience) Divided on 200 condo owners = 1,04 baht, per condo owner per Year for 1 EV scooter. 1 charge per week last 40+ km, drain less than 1 unit, that cost less than 4 baht. No wonder this irritate some owners. It's 1 baht per year, per each EV scooter - that owners have to pay for these "thieves". (Sarcasm) How about pool lightning that's on until midnight or 6 am? How about lights on unnecessary in common area daytime? I personally don't get upset or think about any of these very minor issues. 1 baht per condo owner per year. -

Dual pricing. Corruption. Pickups blasting music. Karaoke bars open all night. Street racing. Traffic deaths. Road work never completed, Pattaya Klang and Pattaya Tai sidewalk. Road work many times within few years, Pattaya beach road ... Current topic in comparison seem very petty / minor. And when OP says he live in a house ... -
Is it okay not to wear underwear for a man?

Why you quote me ??? I am not OP. I do NOT have a issue at all. I mentioned other examples of electric usage that I not personally use, none bother me the slightest. As a ex-owner of a EV vehicle, I would be the last to have a issue. This topic is imo a funny example how nit picking humans can be. Condo living isn't for everyone, some should live in a house. -

Well, I don't use the Gym or Spa and more, still I pay for it, without let it irritate me. I also pay for many security guys, some sleep at night, and smoke in common areas. The list could go on, but not worth my time. It comes down to 'pick your fights', and not waste a second on really minor issues. EV vehicles are here to stay, get used to it. -

My small EV scooter had 4 small batteries. Charging from empty to full battery overnight, less than 1 unit of electricity! Most friends in condo buildings allow EV vehicle, a few don't. -

Many expats post positive reports from Vietnam on Utube, showing modern cheap apartments same here, fast fiber internet, 50 inch flatscreen tv, etc. Since 2015 I meet many foreigners who planned to move there, many had visited already, so can't be that bad. No surprise Thailand is ahead since the 70's. They had 50 years to polish their tourist mass machine, and do it well. However, people always seek new alternative destinations.

1.5 million Thai youths are suffering from depression, numbers rising
Shop mak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thai males are told from very early childhood that boys and men don't cry. Notised how all adults around a small crying boy, all laugh and tell the 2-3 year young child that he not allowed to cry. He's a Boy! Girls however, are allowed to cry their heart out, never told to stop cry because girls shouldn't cry. Their upbringing, most grow up with grandparents only, no wonder they get emotional problems later in life. Left to themselves most of the day and evening. Real men don't seek help from medical service if any exist in their area. That's how they're brought up. Imagine their frustrations and mental issues, when they can't let out steam or seek medical help. Only by abuse and violence, can they let out steam. Thai tv soap nightly, hard though men who abuse hit women. Thailand have a long way to go, and the 2% are BS, big unknown numbers for sure. -
China races for influence as it frets over US footholds in Southeast Asia
Shop mak replied to Scott's topic in World News
Former Pres Duterte was previously very anti american and best buddy with big brother China. That relationship turned sour finally, but RP had already received loans from big brother, so it was in the cards, that the sprath island etc would become a area of conflict. Happy that Pres. Marcos are more intelligent, and realize that USA is their best buddy. Now, if also Thailand could learn from this -

AirBnb isn't cheap. Lowest rentals are found by asking local friends and walking around the area you prefer. A apartment is cheaper than studio and condo, rent would be from 6-8k baht in BKK. A company who hire you, should be able to find you a apartment in the same area. Money and time saved. Then follow advice before, live as close you can to work. Avoid living city center, the temptation to go out more than 1-2 times per week will be obvious, and hurt your budget. Traffic in bkk is crazy zigzag. I've driven motorcycle of all sizes since age 16, you couldn't pay me to drive in bangkok traffic (look on youtube). I drive in other cities here, but very alert. Many close calls I must admit, many accidents reported daily. No health issues? If any, I would add-on medical insurance expence, even your new job should include basic. Yoy plan to stay single? Not going to happen. Thai beauty are amazing, you're expected to dine out, give gifts, and refill her wallet. The prettier she is, the thinner your wallet will be. If you actually manage to avoid women of any kind, you easily save 10-20k baht month, in Bangkok. Bkk women don't come cheap, talking about good beautiful women now. Some exceptions as always, but you will not know who that is, best bet: at work. Wouldn't move her, unless you already have a fool proof work contract, including full assistance for work permit, all in writing. 6,000 Usd minimum on arrival, for the first 3 months, you'll be fine.

To those who had blood clot, do you take blood thinning medicine forever, or pause after 3 months and start again 3 months later for 3 more months? Got different answers from hospitals, so unsure what to do. Problem when one need any other non life threatening surgery, as one need to be off blood thinning medicine for a while ahead. Another small problem, avoid old style shavers, avoid cuts, bleeding. After blood clot once, one will always be worried if or when next clot will come, right? Have any of you had blood clot a 2nd time? Hope people with personal experience will chime in, and also @Sheryl Thanks all, in advance.

Wife Drove Over Neighbour's Dog
Shop mak replied to Brewster67's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
If wife use thai logic = she know you have to pay compensation, if dog owner report this to police, and if they care to visit your home. All other are irrelevant in Thailand. Be prepared to pay up / negotiate down how much to pay. You as foreigner stay out of this 100%. -
Visa Extension - Renewal Problem
Shop mak replied to allane's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Simple solution: talk with a visa agent, they can fix most if not all problems. I was anti agent myself, did all myself until I met problems with IO who clearly directed me to use agent. Members here are clearly divided about use or avoid agents. End of the day, they can save you lots of time, travel and expences, see the full picture of options given already. -

Domestic abuse continue because Bib seldom do anything. Witnessed myself many times, Bib arrive, husband wife or common wife (live-in), and they're told to calm down, and that's it. Hummin post above was spot on. Many women on dating sites write "no violence accepted", shows how common this problem is. Until authorities and law makers change the laws, and Bib act stricter, nothing will change.

Photo and map given, easy to find. * 7eleven * 10 steps to the right * just look at photo Even Stevie Wonder could find it. Similar lady can also be found in Chalernprakiat 19, about 100 meter up on right side (many laundry machines), coming from soi buakhao daily market, near R-con. And many other places around the city.

Report a scam.....waste of time?
Shop mak replied to Milton85's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Assuming you know how things works Here, in my opinion: it's a waste of time to report, even you have owners name and bank account number - unless - you give a 5,000 - 10,000 intensive to get any actual investigation done. The world isn't fair, but the loss are minor, and, you probably get nowhere by wasting more time (+money) and futile hope, to get your 3,000 back. Lesson learned, only book from booking platforms in the future.
