Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
Brickleberry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As I said earlier, I am not an expert at all and neither is the passenger (one assumes!). I am not having a go at the pilot, I have no idea what actually happened. It would be perfectly reasonable for the customer to complain - they can see that several other planes landed. Therefore it is not unreasonable to complain. It is completely unreasonable for an airline to sue its customer for expressing a perfectly valid opinion. They should have explained the situation, and he may have apologized and taken down the post - which is what he did anyway after receiving a lot of backlash online. -
No, people are enraged because it is only the parliament & government of the day who are legally allowed to propose changes to laws, rewrite constitutions and propose amendments. The court should have no business deciding what changes to the constitution can or cannot be proposed by legally elected representatives of parliament, or those standing for representation of the people. Amendments to constitutions are typical of most democracies around the world.

Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism
Brickleberry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yeah, I checked the 28th of Jan too, and I couldn't see anything adverse, but I am not an expert. Other planes landed, but again, I'm not an expert. I dare say the passenger is not an expert either, so coming down on him/her with a lawsuit just seems to be completely irresponsible. People are entitled to their opinions, and if all other planes had been diverted, the airline might have a valid point. But as there seems to be some ambiguity because other planes landed, it doesn't seem completely unreasonable for a passenger to complain. An explanation from the airline might have gone down much better. -
Thai Airways sues over passenger’s flight diversion criticism

Completely backwards way to respond to criticism. Fair enough, the passenger might have been in the wrong (I don't know the specifics of the case). A better response would have been to respond to the complaint in a measured, intelligent way. Perhaps if they had explained the decision to the passenger on social media, they might have apologized and removed the criticism. Checking the weather yesterday reveals that conditions were not particularly dangerous at all. Partly cloudy, no strong winds.... Perhaps the customer had a valid point, hence the complete over-reaction by TA.https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/australia/melbourne/historic -
It isn't a private entity, it is a UN sanctioned and set up organization. 'We', as in 200 nations, constantly renew its mission through our governments at UN security council meetings. Essentially, Israel is saying the world and its organizations cannot be trusted. Bear in mind that the 'evidence' that has been submitted by Israel cannot be verified even by the US. They say the claims are credible, but cannot be verified. Essentially saying "we believe you, but there's no actual proof"

The idea that we must disband (Israel's wishes) or de fund a UN agency is absolutely absurd to me. We are the UN. It is formed from almost 200 nations that work together to solve global problems. The people in charge are elected to these positions by the UN security council - our government's ambassadors. Employees of these agencies are known to each and every contributing government, and to Israel. There is transparency and accountability. Are people really suggesting that the world cannot be trusted?

Even if it absolutely riddled with Hamas and 30% are found to have some involvement, the agency will have to continue in the meantime - there isn't anyone else able to do this in the current conditions, and in time to reach the people when they need it most. This discussion is quite frankly, moot. The agency is under the UN, it will fire and punish any of those responsible, and investigations are underway. It still doesn't change the fact that they will still need to use UNRWA at least until the conflict is over. Do what they want with UNRWA when this is over. Clear the smokescreen away from hiding Israel's war crimes that are currently being committed. That's all this is. Smokescreen. The governments involved in withholding know they will have to keep using them, its just convenient news coverage smokescreen for Israel. Even the US admits as much: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68150519

Put your thinking cap on, for just a moment. Their previous funding was prior to the events that occurred on Oct 7. Since that day, virtually all of the population has been displaced, nowhere to go because their homes, hospitals and other buildings have been destroyed, severely overrun, damaged or rendered incapable of operating. The entire population is starving and relying on aid now. Do you not think that their need for funds has dramatically increased because the needs now are so much greater than what they were dealing with prior to the conflict? This is just basic common sense.

Disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. The people are starving, and you post this nonsense? I'm sorry, but I do not believe anyone can be that heartless, unless they have extreme bias for a personal reason. I support the plight of the Palestinians with all of my heart, but I still feel bad for the Israelis that died in the Oct 7th attacks. You don't seem to care about the tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths. Even when presented with evidence that the UN clearly stated they will run out of funds by February - today is the 1st of Feb- you still don't believe. There is no hope for some people i suppose.

I believe that in international law, evidence obtained through torture is considered unreliable, and it is not able to be submitted in court. Torture a guy for long enough, and he'll give up half his neighbor's names even if they were totally innocent. This is why I do not believe Israel's 'evidence' against UNRWA https://www.vox.com/world-politics/2024/1/31/24056333/unrwa-explained-israel-gaza-funding

Wow. Only an Israeli or a far right/Zionist Jew would be so biased to believe that withholding aid is the most important issue right now. Can it not be dealt with after the conflict? Dismiss me as a conspiracy theorist? Then trust CNN & the UN. Budget is almost depleted, they will run out within days, if not already... Did you not look into this yourself? https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/29/middleeast/unrwa-funding-israel-war-mime-intl/index.html "Let them starve and die from disease and famine". This is essentially what you are saying.
-
Let them do whatever they want with UNRWA after the this all ends. Investigate everything fully, transparently, and by independent agencies and journalists. Knee jerkily withdrawing funding at this critical stage is just monstrous. Tens of thousands will die of starvation and disease. Dismiss my other posts and my views entirely. Feel free to completely disagree with all of my opinions, as I do yours. But now ask yourself this: Do you really think this is what the world should be doing right now. Withholding aid from those who need it the most, and will die without it? These people need help, and they need it now. Is it the moral thing to deny them life?

Because I'm not an idiot. I read Israeli news reports, see their members in Knesset telling us exactly why they want UNRWA disbanded, and I automatically throw out ANY evidence that has been gained through torture. Perhaps these are the poor souls that were found in mass graves in Northern Gaza - Israeli victims of torture and death. Buried with their hands tied behind their backs. Are you really going to believe a country that does that to people? I find it highly suspicious that they have known about each and every worker in UNRWA for years, but only now complain that 1,200 were members of Hamas/PIJ. Come on man, are you seriously gonna believe that? Like you believe the rape stories without any credible evidence - the one 'lone witness' to the festival rape report has been absolutely demolished - changing her story and no evidence of the bodies she claimed. No witnesses have come forward for ANY alleged rapes. No evidence has been collected from any corpses. The video footage does not show ANY evidence of rape. Did you also believe the stories about 40 beheaded babies? Pregnant women having their babies cut out of them? Dead babies hanging on a clothes line? All of these stories have been found to be false. Can't wait for the evidence to prove this one is bogus as well. This is stupid to talk about anyway. Gaza is desperate for aid. UNRWA is the only one that can facilitate that aid. What is the world gonna do? Leave them to starve, get infected, and die? If so, then the world is complicit in Israel's genocide.
-
UNRWA has been sharing the full list of it's staff to Israeli authorities for years. How is it that they just woke up now with a 10% figure? They could have acted way before. So, could it be that this is precisely meant to derail the global media's attention after the ICJ Gaza genocide ruling? "have links" means nothing at all. Israel claims that 1% of those 1200 were involved in killings and kidnappings, so what did the other 99% do? Probably having the wrong phone number in your phone's address book counts as "being linked to a haven of radical ideology".

What are you smoking? I really would love some. Replying to the latest article that has been posted and pointing out its inaccuracies is deflecting? Wow. You have some nerve! Do you not realize that this whole topic is a deflection away from the very important issues of Israel plausibly committing genocide against the Palestinian people? Do you not realize that schools have not been open since October 7th and this whole topic about curriculum in schools is moot? This is something that can be dealt with at the end of the conflict. Schools are not open. Children are not being taught anything. Sort. It. Out. Feeding the starving children, getting them medicine and anesthetic, clothes, shelter from bombing. This is what we should be talking about, this is the main mission of UNRWA. Instead of using typical Dershowitz smear + deflect tactics, you should engage in the discussion at hand. In your posts, all you did was attack me. You did not address any of the issues raised. Talk about people living in glass houses... jeez.

Why spread fake propaganda from a group desperate for money? There have been several instances of people pointing out Zaka has lied numerous times. It is as right wing as you can get, with its own agenda. They were bankrupt 3 days prior to the Oct 7 massacre. Now they are flush with millions in donations. Even Israeli newspapers have shown their disinformation as recently as 2 days ago. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-01-31/ty-article-magazine/.premium/death-and-donations-did-the-volunteer-group-handling-the-october-7-dead-exploit-its-role/0000018d-5a73-d997-adff-df7bdb670000

Furthermore, throwing around terms like 'jihadi educational materials' shows a lack of knowledge. There is a reason people in the UK are allowed to shout out Jihad when on protests. I think most fair minded people understand the Palestinians have been struggling against their oppressors and occupiers for 56 years (some would argue 75 years). These are just facts. Palestinians are allowed to resist - they are allowed to defend themselves and they are allowed to teach their history. Trying to whitewash Israel in textbooks (that are NOT produced by UNRWA) is never going to happen. They can literally see the soldiers all the time in the West Bank (and now Gaza). People often say 'they shouldn't be throwing stones' at Israeli soldiers - without thinking to themselves "what are Israeli soldiers doing in Palestinian lands?" If Israel stopped occupying their lands (I'm not talking about the original formation, I'm talking about the events that led to occupation in 1967) - which is one of the 26 UN resolutions Israel ignores, they might be less inclined to hate Israel, might not feel the need to resist, and would not need to struggle against their oppressors. https://news.sky.com/story/what-does-jihad-mean-and-why-wasnt-a-pro-palestine-protester-arrested-for-chanting-the-word-12991026
