I'm certainly not going to side with a far right wing government that has brought their country so low, that they are now found to be plausibly committing genocide. Hamas might indeed make genocidal comments about its oppressors, but they are unable to do it. Israel is making the same disgusting comments, has the power to do it, and is actually doing it. So again, what was wrong with my statement? Resistance is what I said. Resistance from their oppressors, ergo freedom fighters.

You can attempt to deflect by saying "Gaza is not West Bank, there have been no IDF troops or settlers since 2005" but that fails for two reasons. 1) The international community has said that Gaza is occupied by Israel. Fact. 2) Palestinian lands. Palestinian lands that Israel is occupying, and has been since 1967. Gaza is not some separate entity with different people. West Bank is not a separate entity with different people, East Jerusalem is not a separate entity with different people. You cannot separate the different parts of Palestinian lands and say "well, we're only occupying some of it, we aren't occupying that part - so these people here have no reason to fight against us." Seriously, who thinks like that? If the French invaded London and started building settlements, I'm sure people in other UK cities would have something to say about it, and would fight back. Would they be terrorists? To the French, yes. To the British, they would be freedom fighters. https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/menasource/gaza-israel-occupied-international-law/

I'd start by acknowledging that they are freedom fighters, fighting their oppressors - the people who steal their land, lock up their kids whilst pretending to the world they are a beacon of light in a dark corner of the world. Their tactics are disgusting, but they are what they are. An oppressed people fighting for freedom.

Right.... notice the IDF did not prove anything. They just claimed it. Exactly how Penny Wong, Australia's defense minister just admitted that the intelligence dossier from Israel with UNRWA allegations contained no actual evidence. Channel 4 in the UK has said the same, as has CBC - Canada's main news broadcaster. Until the IDF submits any tangible evidence, we should not believe their lies.
-
This is where you are wrong. The journalists were quite clear about this: "They could look up and see the outside of the courtyard from within the tunnel" The tunnel runs underneath part of the courtyard - not directly under the UN computer data center. Get your facts straight instead of misrepresenting. They showed wires - but they did not show where those wires went. Dr Eli David - whoever this is - seems to also note that the wires in the server room have not been ties to the tunnel found underneath part of UNRWA's courtyard. Come on, at least try to be truthful.
-
Liar! I read the article and that is NOT what was said: The tunnel entrance is not in the courtyard, it was quite far from UNRWA. It was the tunnel itself that ran underneath the courtyard. NOT the tunnel entrance. Soldiers claimed that UNRWA was providing electricity, but they do not show any evidence for those claims. I'm pretty sure that would have been a smoking gun - so why they didn't show this proof is almost laughable.
-
This is laughably moronic. Firstly, if I were to even believe this nonsense, how are metro stations built? They use huge tunnel digger machinery. How does Hamas build tunnels? By hand, and with electric jackhammers. You ain't gonna hear anything that far deep underground. In fact, the IDF has noted how difficult it is to detect: https://www.timesofisrael.com/how-the-tunnels-in-gaza-are-dug-and-detected/

Sadly this is true. This must be why he said he had seen beheaded dead babies when he categorically did not. I fear what will happen should Trump get back in, and I seriously worry about the state of the union if Biden remains in charge. We need a new candidate... maybe Gavin Newsome getting elected on the floor of the conference?

What a joke. Imagine this: I promise you peace after invading your land (1967) and building settlements. We agree to a ceasefire. You keep on building more and more settlements, expanding your territory in my lands and building roads and checkpoints to connect my land to your land. We kick off and fight back. We agree to another ceasefire. You keep on building more and more settlements, still keep invading my lands and snatching my people from their beds at night. We fight, then we agree to another ceasefire You keep on building more and more .... do you see where I am going this? Follow the law. Live up to the ceasefire agreements. You might then see some peace.
-
Well now who's making things up? You. Hamas literally said they would agree to a permanent ceasefire in 2018 - if Israel followed its duties under international law and withdrew from the occupied territories. Is this not peace? Hamas have been engaging in ceasefire talks - Israel has not Israel has rejected outright a two state solution. Israel has been building settlements in Palestinian lands for decades. Israel has occupied Palestinian territories for almost 6 decades. Are you seriously trying to tell us that Israel wants peace?
-
This. Until Israel wants peace, agrees to a two state solution, and leaves the occupied territories, it is pointless to try and blame it all on Hamas. This started way before Hamas was even created. Israel must follow international law. Until it does so, it has no moral high ground. It is a law breaking state and should be treated as such.
-
Replace 'Israel' with Palestine. The same is true. Israels incursions into Gaza and the West Bank over the last few decades have been monstrous. Steadily eating away at their lands whilst saying to the world "they don't want peace". Tell us all, please. How are they supposed to agree to peace when Israel keeps on stealing more and more of their land?
-
Lies, lies, lies. Maps do not lie. You can look at them on the UN if you care to. It was called Palestine. The British mandate for Palestine. Yes, they rejected it. That does not mean that Israel is entitled to more land. It means the Palestinians rejected the Israelis taking over 54% of the land, even though they represented less than 20% of the population. You are misrepresenting facts. The 1967 map is a true, proper map. Your talking about Egypt and Transjordan occupying palestinian lands during the war up to 1949 - the armistice lines. The now map represents what has been stolen. They have control over their lands? Is that why IDF soldiers can freely arrest and snatch people out of their beds in the West Bank... I think not. Until Israel follows the law, they cannot expect others to.
-
Gaza and the West Bank are Palestinian lands. They are not separate. They are not separate countries. They are the same people. Stop trying to justify Israels actions by dividing their areas into smaller and smaller pockets of land. Until Israel obeys international law and defines its borders according to the 1948 partition plan - which Hamas has agreed to do since 2018. Hamas changed its charter and said it would accept a permanent ceasefire based on the legal borders. The Palestinian people have said they would accept this. The Arab league has said they will accept this and will immediately recognize Israel, trade with Israel etc. The whole world is waiting for Israel to follow the law, and give back the lands they have seized by force illegally.
-
Israel has been steadily building more and more settlements in land that is legally recognized as belonging to Palestinians. Since 1967. If you want people to follow laws and decorum, you must first make sure you are following laws and decorum. You can't blame the people responding to your cruelty with cruelty.
