Yes covid was mishandled. That was 3 years ago. 2022 was a good year.

If your trip is 33 days then the fees are 1900 baht extra versus zero under 45 days. So the visa fees have increased for travellers above 30 days. If visa exemption was 90 days then visa fees disappear.

Just explaining the facts on how visitors think. Most people I know look at costs. If flights are $500 more plus you have to pay 1900 baht plus $12 you might delay your trip. Easy yes but costly all up.

So now you use 3 years instead of 1. Normally people use 1 year for comparisons. Your links says 2022 was good for UK. Just move on. The facts are UK had a shocker in 2020 but 2021 and 2022 were pretty good.

People budget their total costs. If flight prices are high then visa costs hurt them more. Most Thai guests are budget travellers. Higher costs deter people. If flights are cheaper plus visa fees are lower you get more guests.

Your link said the opposite of what you said. UK was no 1 in G7 in 2022. You said they were the worst. Forecasts are just guesses and IMF ones are lower than other forecasts. The facts are the UK did pretty well in 2021 and 2022. So not bad at all.

Plus 100% more for plane ticket plus visa extension. All adds up. Expensive flights plus shorter ve will deter people. People look at total cost.
