  1. I'm annoyed at the insulting and dangerous behavior of Thais every time I drive down the road, or try to walk down a sidewalk without being hit by a motorcycle, and God forbid I dare to use a Zebra crossing.
  2. I wonder what they would say if we had our pictures taken wearing one of those nifty government employee outfits with all the badges on them 🤪
  3. The worry would be letting Thai's access any sensitive foreign information, that could allow scammers to steal our foreign assets. Not sure about you, but I wouldn't trust any Thai, especially a Thai government employee to have my sensitive financial information. It's one thing to do the mundane extension paperwork every year, but giving any type of sensitive and private financial information to a foreign government entity, and one with close ties to China?! I'd rather not!
  4. It's not just police corruption, its a police force in name only, they need to actually start working for a living. When is the RTP going to actually make Thai society safer? You know like enforcing road rules/laws, and making it safer for pedestrians to travel (i.e. Sidewalks and Zebra Crossings). I have been here for 8 years, and I have never seen a single police officer doing any work, let alone meaningful work, they seem to do nothing all day. They have the same number of police officers for 100,000 of the population that the USA has, but none of them are actually doing anything all day. I assume they spend their entire day working on building long-lasting corruption connections, and stuffing their pockets with the ill-gotten gains. Disband the RTP, start over, and don't hire any previous officers from the ranks of the RTP. After that investigate all previous officers in high-ranking positions for unusual wealth, then prosecute and jail them for life.
  5. Well, it's your own fault for putting that 10,000 baht in the card for his recovery 🤪
  6. Not always, my license has my Pink ID number. But I have also carried my passport with me whenever I leave the house, its in a passport wallet.
  7. Yeah, I kind of avoided that more because the Big Bike gets me out in front of anyone else much quicker, and I could then find open space to keep a cushion between them and myself. Though I would try to ride when things aren't congested, if it is, I just drive the car instead.
  8. I found that cars and trucks weren't the real issue on the road when riding my big bike, they are way easier to manage. The real issue is the other idiots on motorcycles and scooters flying by way to close for comfort, and changing lanes without signaling or even looking, I am convinced they are on a suicide mission.
  9. Nothing scares me more than knowing Thai's might try running a Nuclear Power plant.
  10. If foreigners looking to invest do their homework, is it worth dealing with these corrupt clowns, that's the real question. I think any investment in Thailand is a risky one, and not worth the risk.
  11. Hey, if a convicted heroin dealer can become a revered MP, then Thaksin can surely continue his ascent to royalty.
  12. When I went in February to do my extension, my wife talked with the immigration officer in Thai, he let it slip that those "Agent's" have access to at least some of the computer systems at immigration, the same one he was in when he was going through my paperwork. Sounds like the whole thing is rigged to perpetuate their schemes.
  13. Motorcyclist finding any bit of shade? More like blocking a crosswalk and parked past the stop line, and some actually in the intersection waiting to blow a red light while blocking the view of motorist trying to to make a left turn.
  14. Like I have said in the past, we can't rely on staying here permanently, we are only guest.....we will never be Thai, so don't burn your bridges in your home country, you may have no choice but to return. I will own nothing here, other than my bank account, and even then I worry about that. I and my wife's assets/accounts are totally separate, and that's the way it will stay.
  15. They let a convicted heroin smuggler run the show, what could go wrong? I still can't believe anyone would want to be associated with, or seen with this man, just a disgusting individual who should be shunned by all. He is the perfect example of what is so wrong about Thai society.
  16. The true criminals in Thailand, I wouldn't trust anything coming out of the mouth of one these pariahs.
  17. Sounds like wishful thinking on the Thai side of the conversation, the chances are like one out of a million.
  18. Aren't they on a typical 12 day hold? Even those can be extended out several times.
  19. That's because Thailand is easy pickings for the Chinese, they'll exploit any area left open for criminal activity, having a well known corrupt police force just makes things even more attractive to them.
  20. Going home next month to the states, I am going to hit my favorite homemade ice cream place, they have their own farm and cows. God I love New England, so many dishes I have been dying for lately, but love the farm made ice cream spot!
  21. I am trying to remember when my daughter went to get her first Thai ID, I believe they took her and my wife's thumbprint/fingerprint. So do all Thai's have their fingerprints on file, and if so, can the police catch the drivers using these?
  22. 30 days in jail for kicking a pregnant woman, then deportation and blacklisted.
