Plumetts yes, but nobody is talking of the millions many are spending to buy top stocks at bargain prices. Many will come out very rich from this. Trump and his team are pro's in business and they surely know more on how to play on the stock market then the handful of democrat liberal leftist wokes who are spending their days moaning against Trump. I don't specially like the man, but he knows how to make money.

They do have a problem in Thailand to hand out change. Some banks make a real fuss and behave as if it was comming out of their pocket, Very often was rudely refused to get smaller 100 bhat notes for the 1000 bhats in Hua Hin, in a certain green logo bank branch in Market Village. Always the same fellow at the counter, who was very rude and seemed to have an issue with the rich foreigners comming over to change 30k in 1000's for smaller notes.

will you boycott tesla because you hate trump?
Sigmund replied to save the frogs's topic in Political Soapbox
I boycott Tesla because IMHO, it's not yet the right moment to switch to electric. Nothing to do with Musk, even though I can consider him to be sometimes a jerk but a smart one who is also right sometimes. If the wokes and other liberal democrats want to play that game, why not introspect into other major US brands that were helping the despicable nazi germany, supplying the Nazis during ww2 and so on ? Many popular US brands by the way and many well known european brands also. A global soft drinks name comes to mind, a well known german car brand also and so do some high street fashion names too.... But strangely, it only against Trump or Musk these days, thanks to all the wokes and other communities LGBTQ+ who obviously do not approuve of Trump's statements. If I was a queer LGBTQ+ woke type, perhaps I would also not be so pleased with the current situation. But that's another story. -

Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What about all the absurd high import duty rates in Thailand ? So it's plainly tit-for-tat. As usual, it will always be the common people who may feel the pinch at first. But the big risk for the world is that all the foolish brands will start to shut down their production lines in Asia or Europe and move in the US thinking it's the only market in the world. Europe and Asia a paying the price for their foolishness and for depending so much on America all these decades. But there is always China who is smart and will be the next global player. -
I think that people globally were already angry with America since the Biden's sanctions against Russia, that created global inflation and shortages, as there was no more cheap russian energy in Europe and within the foolish EU countries that applied the sanctions of Biden. All this to say that Trump's actions may piss off the regular leftist woke types but definately not a majority of people who were just fed up with what the previous US administration had done. IMHO. Sorry, no means to offence anybody. 🙏

It's not just Pattaya. It's most of the popular beach town resorts with foreigners. Overpriced. Cheating from everything to anything. Rude attitude from some locals towards foreigners. Quite sad to see the turn things have taken...yes, yes..."you no like it, you leave.."...yes, yes we know that...but still....if all falangs leave, no more money to pay back the loan for the pick up, the car of the Missus, the 3 homes back in the village and the lifestyle of the Missus and the Mia Noi's. So perhaps think it over ?

Why only assess the buildings and condos ? Many foreign tourists and winter birds rent or own villas and homes that are equally at risk due to faulty construction, cheap grade materials used, bad foundation sealing against humidity, crappy electrical wiring or plumbing, unqualified labour, non respect of basic curing protocols for the cemant, lousy mix of the cement aggregate and so on... Any housing developpment mainly in popular tourist resorts must undergo compulsory and non corrupt assessment with the owners presence. That is the first step to establish trust.

Another fine demonstration on how the woke leftist liberals are desperate in Europe in trying to muzzle what a majority of their own people want. On a different note, one may or may not like Trump. But more then one european would do anything to have Trump in charge of their country or within the European Union.

Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs
Sigmund replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
European Union nations have been enforcing absurd VAT rates at 20 to 21% for years, added to import duty rates and thus creating inflation for it's own. Trump in plainly retaliating to what Europe and Asian countries have been doing. Why should the USA charge a minimal import duty on imported stuff, when all the other countries are overcharging with excessively high import duty and VAt rates ? Thailand is no exception. If anybody is to blame, it's the corrupt policies within the European Union and many other countries in the world. Trump is plainly functionning on a tit-for-tat basis. I don't agree with everything he does or says but he is doing the right thing to protect his own and now destroy his country like Europe is doing. -

Top 10 Reasons People Spend Time on the Forum
Sigmund replied to JK-Trilly's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Some people like forums just to be rude, agressive under the cover of their anonymity. -
I find your post quite rude and condescending (check out the word) towards janitors and cleaners who are people trying to make a respectful living in doing a tough job.

Obviously the prostitutes in the girlie bars can see that the OP passing by is no fool and thus not worth pulling over to be cheated with the overcharging "lady drinks".

There will always be falang fools (like myself) to buy a condo or a villa in Thailand, only to realise later, on the many issues that arise. And should there be visible cracks or damage, the wonderful local construction contractors or developpers will repair in the Thai method; just paint it over or at best put some cheap putty to block the hole and then repaint.

Chinese Men Caught Removing Documents from Collapsed Building in Bangkok
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The bad quality of construction materials, the flagrant dishonesty of the building contractors is a sort of national institution in Thaiand. Be it with the crooked chinese builders or regular building contractors for private homes or condos - it may not be an exageration to claim that out of 100 crooked contractors they would be only say 20 honest ones. Ask any home owner in areas like Phuket or Hua Hin on how the building contractors openly cheat with poor grade materials, unqualified labour, unfinished jobs, over charging foreigners non respect of basic drying protocols of cement etc. -
Most europeans would dream of having a head of state like Trump. Mainly in Germany, France or in the UK or most of the nordic countries. That is also a fact fortunately or unfortunately - like it or not.

Swiss Man's Visa at Risk Following Multiple Dog Attacks
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
In my villa developpment in Hin Lek Fai (a well known housing projetc) there is also a chap with a dog that always barks and can jump and nip people passing by. Yet the falang managers of the developpment do not do a thing. Same for all the soi dogs that come into the developpment and nothing is done. Quite a pity considering that they rent the villas at a very high price but nothing done either for the maintenance or to secure the area, despite having security posts all over and very costly monthly common fee.
