I always carry in cash the 50'000 THB required as a reserve for my next visit in the 5 months of winter, in case the bank blocks again my account and refuses to give me cash like it happened with BB last year. My passport had expired and they wanted the copy of the new one - fair enough. Except that the account was opened in a BB branch in Hua Hin and I was in BKK and of course the bank manager refused to unblock with the new passport and was only to happy with a sly grin to put another foreigner in hot soup.

Bangkok Suffers Severe Smog as PM2.5 Levels Soar Amidst Heat Wave
Sigmund replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Burning thrash and waste is a daily sport in cities like Hua Hin and depending on the wind direction, it's unbearable on some days in Hin Lek Fai area and other areas around. As for Bangkok, the excessive amount of private cars all over and lack of public transport definately will not help to contain the Pm levels. -
Thai man’s livestream of police brutality in Bangkok sparks outrage
Sigmund replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
So apparently the Thai Police are not only racketing foreigners but also locals. Nothing new here and it's been like this for ages. -
German Ambassador Shares Photo with Ex-PM Thaksin, Expresses Honour
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Hope with Mr T's family in rule, life will be made easier for foreigners subject to all the visa and immigration or tax hassles that are chasing away the foreign home owners from Thailand. It would also be helpful to make national campaigns aiming to train people to stop cheating foreigners from anything to everything. -
Thailand is good value for the drunks and their 100 Bhat booze, the 150 bhat food plate in the food court that will fill one table spoon, the cheap soapy and prostutes in some remonte village perhaps ?... and the seedy hotel room. But definately not any more for shopping, fine dining or traveling as other countries like Spain, Cyprus or Malta can beat the Thai prices in many aspects.

Looking for 6/7 seaters car in thailand
Sigmund replied to Xisnow's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
No matter which model, buy Japanese or Chinese at worst. As even Volkswagen's nowdays can have have hidden tech issues that suddenly show up. -
I am always quite amused on hearing the rubbish of the western white supremacists in Thailand claiming they are God due to their white skin....but usually these lads all have dark skinned women back home. So not worth even listening to.

I don't really like Trump. But my pension manager in Europe and his colleagues who know their stuff were all unanimous. Under Trump's term, all the yields in investment portfolio's (that pay our pensions), made profits like never before. Trump is a businessman who knows how to make money for him and for others. Consequently he does not need to generate wars to sell weapons and get kickbacks from the arms lobby. He knows the semiology of the markets and thus knows what political orientations to take and decisions to make. One may not like the individual, but compared to Harris, he knows that making money, doing business and making profit for all, definately does not match with generating and funding wars all over the world like the Biden Harris and cronies are doing since their arrival at office.

Well if it's too clean, there will be no more tourists ! But I agree, one could also clean up those Tailor shops that are cheating customers with crappy material, bad stiching and overcharging. Tailoring before COVID was top notch and top stich in Bangkok. Now it's just a scam with poor quality material, bad tailoring and you pay same or more then Europe to get someting decent. No point in tailoring clothes any more in Bangkok for sure. -
Very true as there is stong anger all over Europe against the USA due to their sanctions taken against Russia in a few days...when on the other side there are war crimes and genocide in Gaza and now in Libanon...and the USA and the EU are just pretending and looking the other way with the UN and the Security Council that is a insult and a joke to modern democracy.

Speak to the managers of your Pension Funds, should it be in the US or in Europe. They will all confirm the high yields in the portfolios during Trump's term. Like Trump or not, but for the economy, he's the best to do the job as he...he knows how to make money and not live off public money or to live through the "commissions" got from the arms lobbys.
-
Trump or no Trump, nobody could be worse then Biden and his current cronies and advisors. But Oh Sorry..there could be somebody as bad, if Harris gets elected and the wars will continue all over the world with more money to be made by the arms lobbys.

Chinese National Arrested for International Drug Trafficking
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
These are the quality Chinese,. Thailands is welcomming. But on the other hand considering that Thailand is ruled by the highly rich citizens of Chinese descent, what to do ? -
This should be matter of consideration to a different post, asking if it's safe to wear around a Rolex in Bangkok (or in Thailand I may say). Times have changed since. People now are poor, making less money and thus obviously socially angry as far less foreigners, fed up with the cheating and overcharging, are not comming in throwing their money all around in Thailand.

Is it safe to wear a Rolex around Bangkok??
Sigmund replied to Mekmong MICK's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Be it a genuine or a fake. Rolex is for upstarts and the posing as rich. The real rich hi-so's and powerful usually wear a Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Longhe and Sohn or a Gérard Perregaux watch...or the latest iWatch... -
Wise removes Long Stay Reason on Transfers
Sigmund replied to bastco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Be it wise or Currency Fair, it always takes many days to arrive when money is sent from Europe to a Thai Bank account. However, when it's a few hundred in foreign currency it arrives fast. But when it's more then a 1000 Euros, it can take many days. As if that at some point, one of the partys involved in the transfer process are first using the money on markets, before releasing the amount to the beneficiary's account,. -
Thailand Delays Automated Entry System for Foreign Tourists
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thai immigration cannot even have a proper online system that is clear, not offline regularly and properly explained in english for foreigners, so how can this automated entry system work ? Much of the immigration paperwork can be done online but that would mean cutting thousands of jobs to all those God's in uniform behind their counters who love to shout at those pesky foreigners. -

Grilling it illegally: Immigration cops catch foreign ‘meat’ deliverers
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Above the issue of those pesky falangs "stealing" jobs from thai's, it's more the health issue that is of concern,. Such seedy food delivery joints, restaurants or street food stalls, could be suspected not to respect any hygiene protocols and thus put public health safety in jeopardy. -
Terrifying Encounter: Hospital Maid Saved After Being Attacked by a Python
Sigmund replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Sorry for the cobra and other snake lovers, but snakes are a serious threat to public safety all over Thailand, including the cities like Bangkok. We recall previous incidents of the snakes attacking out from toilets, then the case of the lady bitten in the Cinema and now this issue. The authorities need to put aside their beliefs and start to exterminate or displace these animals that are a daily threat to humain life.
