  1. The main influence is on social media with almost 80% of the population playing on their phones, even when dealing with customers. It's the social media comments that make and un-make anybody or anyservice.
  2. If you live in a gated house developpment in Hua Hin or Hin Lek Fai district, avoid the services offered by the house developpment as their staff is spoilt by the other part time farangs, prices overcharge, the work is average and the cleaning girls have no respect for other people or their property when the owners are not around. . FB is full of services at very decent prices.
  3. Avoid purchasing in Hua Hin they overcharge. Shop in Bangkok area out of the main district that is or try going further up north. Get the stuff delivered, it will cost yøu far less and be better finish then in Hua Hin.
  4. Ban Drugs and over consumption of booze....
  5. Chinese spend almost no money to the profit of the Thais. When in Thailand, the chinese will mostly spend in Chinatown areas or with chinese merchants. They obtain specific information before they travel to Thailand and know exactly where to find their own kingsmen to deal with (shops, restaurants, or hotels belonging to groups who have big chinese investment in the stock exchange). Like it or not, that's how it goes. The chinese with the big bucks rather spend in the designer shops of overrated and crime ridden Paris in France.
  6. In Thailand you have equal opportunities and high chances of getting killed in a road accident or when trying to cross the road in Hua Hin downtown where the pedestrial lights are usually out of order or non existant. Been many times to Cebu. Felt safer then some seedy areas in Hua Hin (aroung some of the bars in the Hilton area) late night.
  7. Always quite amusing and sad to see the 60 year olds trudging to keep up with their skinny 25 year old "wives"...
  8. One may wonder if they are subject to income tax on foreign revenue, when many of those Bangkok or Hua Hin tailors do their tours abroad to sell their tailored suits and all in done is hotel rooms.
  9. Happy to see that on a Senator's pay, it is possible to afford a trip to highly costly Iceland (even by western standards of tourism).
  10. Mainly remain neutral in the US-Russia war in Ukraine. Don't make the same mistakes as Europe has done that is destroying and leading the UE to it's economical and social doom.
  11. Also massively happens in most offices, firms etc etc etc....the "promotion" exam. And this happens as much in the west as in Thailand of course.
  12. Few weeks after the military coup years ago, when there were no more street vendors left to rackt, the cops were pulling over tourists and submitting them to drug scan pee tests on the road. Of course often at the wee hours of the morning one had to pay to "pass". Assuming one does not want to believe the OP, keep in mind that crooks often pose as cops to distract you while another thief is trying to do your pockets or your backpack. I would not brush away the incident and be a patsy when it comes to scams or corrupt cops in Bangkok.
  13. Make further incentives to encourage falang 70 year olds to settle in Thai villages of the North or Isaan. The birth rate will rocket.
  14. The main thing to understand is that rules and laws change on the mood and overnight. Not worth taking the risk any any large investment or to long stay. Better start to consider Vietnam, Philippines. India, Malaysia, Cambodia etc to retire....
  15. Definately not the time to go to Thailand during Oct and Nov with the current changes of climate that are confusing all the seasons for this year. I would postpone any trip to Thailand till December at least. At your own risk....
  16. Many many happy westerners live in the southern beach states like Goa or Kerala and farangs are better treated there then in Thailand many say...for "heaven's or hell's sake"....????
  17. As long as many attempt to claim there is no corruption and the system does not straightforwardly sack the corrupt (and no more transfers to "inactive" posts), the party will continue.
  18. They call it LoS because they smile when they are able to cheat the naive farang.
  19. All depends on which branch. People have opened bank accounts just on visa exempt in Phuket and on showing just the passport.
  20. Why all the bother ? Just start looking to move to Vietnam or Cambodia or Malaysia, the Philippines, or even India...
  21. Bad quality is not always in fakes. Many local retailers sell non branded goods, at high prices, that end up to just be crap. Mainly the furniture stores.
  22. Thai roads are amongst the worst and most dangerous in the world but still patsy and naive tourists rent bikes and cars....at their risk.
  23. New era ? So the Police will stop the racket and try to extort to take money fine foreigners on every road block all over Hua Hin or Bangkok on any excuse ? Let's see
