  1. So just 'really damn ugly' is ok? As long as it's not incredibly ugly?
  2. Have you not been paying attention? People have more widely different opinions than ever.
  3. Is having fact checkers censorship, though? Prior to the internet, people with crackpot opinions would be socially shunned and there ideas wouldn't spread far. These days, people have platforms they can spread their opinions far and wide, no matter how out there. Having fact checkers disagree with conspiracy theories seems like a pretty small trade-off to being able to blast your ideas world-wide.
  4. Must be a day that ends in a "y".
  5. I didn't make an argument...
  6. I see you are a fan of Hillary. Damn deplorables! I encourage you to run on the Dem ticket, sir.
  7. Yes, they wanted KYC from me a couple months ago. And reports of them doing it with others.
  8. There is a psychology theory of a set-point to happiness, though I think it may vary, depending on the life event. In this theory, people who have great misfortune, such as permanent loss of limbs, will be depressed for a while but eventually return to roughly the same level of happiness. And people who have great fortune, like winning a lottery, will be elated in the short term but the gloominess will return.
  9. As mentioned, I can only compare to my home country, the US. It may be different than the UK. TV prices, in particular, are hard to compare as most brands will not sell the exact same model in Asia. They may even have the same major model number and yet have different spec and quality. I research everything (perhaps to a fault) before I buy and it's quite frustrating because you can read a ton of positive reviews on a TV, decide what you want, and then find out that the version they sell here has a lower quality display or chip or something.
  10. In fact, government money is more expensive as it requires payment to all the government middlemen.
  11. I am American so I am not 100% sure about UK. But if it's similar to America, most electronics (like TVs, electric shaver, computers, etc.) are more expensive. All import foods can be somewhere between "a bit more expensive" and "oh my god, it's triple price". I think this might be easier on brits, though? Clothes aren't more expensive but can be harder to find ones that I am satisfied with. Hard to beat Amazon for a lot of things.
  12. Worded just fine and I took it positively. Thank you, sir! It's been a long, winding road but things are pretty good now, living in Thailand
  13. As silly as this thread is, it's still better than another Bignok/Bob thread...
  14. Both. My parents were comfortably well off (not rich-rich but very comfortable). Educated me well in private schools. Traveled a lot. But I was a runaway/abandoned at 14 and, not wanting to grow up in a foster home and not being legally able to have a job at that point, it was rough going for a while. Slept on the streets, in shelters, on kind strangers couches, in abandoned cars, on bus benches. Emotional trauma was bad for 8 years or so. However, my education and upbringing gave me an advantage that carried me through to eventually going to college (on loans and grants) and into the military to pay off those loans. And eventually retiring early, at 40ish, in SouthEast Asia. So...fair to say there have been ups and downs 😅
  15. Not just bargirls, my friends are also very kind!

  17. Can confirm. Just got a new phone 2 weeks ago. Same sim, same number, even ported over the app for Bangkok Bank. Had to go in to branch, bring my ATM card, they went outside with me to ATM, did some stuff there, came back in, more paperwork. They were quite nice about it but yeah, took a good 20 minutes or so. The app HAS an option to do it by providing info about your ATM. But even after I provided it correctly, it gave an error and said to go to a branch or call a number or something along those lines. There was no directions that I saw, saying to actually go use an ATM and get a temporary PIN. Maybe that works but I wasn't aware of it.
  18. Medical advice on non-medical forums is always hilarious.
  19. And you have 10,000...thank you for supporting my point. 😄
  20. My current thought is "How can Bignok be so farkin lonely in Thailand that he keeps making these threads just to get some attention?".
  21. Ugh, another crypto zealot. It's fine if you consider crypto a valid asset after careful, unbiased evaluation. But your wording betrays your cult-like devotion that I can't take seriously.
  22. Might be a good point if any tourists actually wanted to go to Russia these days...
  23. You have made a compelling case. I will go invest my life savings in Doge now. Thank you, sir, for the persuasive argument.
