  1. So to you noticing and being concerned about the USA going in the direction of autocracy (which is an objective FACT) is hysterical.
  2. Not every. Most if they're talking.
  3. Not sure it's quite enough to push very many out but all this should give pause to potential new people. Also any place can change for the worse over time.
  4. Thailand is becoming more and more annoying with this kind of stuff including of course the tax thingie.
  5. No not the same thing at all and there really aren't packs of tourists in Thailand with the red hat.
  6. You can't identify Russian? Really?
  7. The Russians here are very mixed. I've even asked Russians and can't get a clear answer as to the percentage here fleeing Putin vs. the usual Z fascist Siberian holiday makers. I wouldn't bother with shouting Slava Ukraini here though but for a while I was looking for a shirt showing Ukrainian colors. Actually illegal to wear in Russia.
  8. If you say so. I can say that I haven't shed one tear about the fact that felon Trump won. I'm comforted by the fact that Americans are going to get the government they deserve. But really the original purpose of THIS topic is done and dusted
  9. Maga-Trump and Orban. Joined at the hip. "...lead with culture wars and end up with DICTATORSHIP."
  10. Yes XI is a dictator. Thank you for coming out about which side you're on about the global democracy vs. autocracy debate.
  11. I started this topic. Obviously VP Harris lost the election to felon Donald Trump. So she won't be president any more than Matt Gaetz (now available to do CAMEO videos) will be Attorney General. I don't see the point for this topic to continue except as a platform for SORE WINNERS.
  12. Not a DIRECT democracy. But certainly the founders intention wasn't an autocracy or an imperial Dictator/King type of presidency.
  13. Yes Ike had his racist Project Wetback but overall I see him as an honorable and decent man and also a war hero. Trump the polar opposite.
  14. Wasn't a landslide. Stop lying. In fact it was among the closest elections in US history.
  15. What are you trying to imply? It sounds like you are saying that people in opposition to those in power have no rights of criticism or dissent. That is the case in places like Russia now but hopefully Americans can prevent things getting that bad. Of course I don't agree that Harris is a socialist but that's not the topic here. I do appreciate that Americans have a binary choice in presidential elections though.
  16. Interesting. Of course as it was 20 years agɔ I didn't fill out such forms at opening either
  17. With no due respect that is dumb. A person's political ideology and their gender identity.are separate matters I do understand the Trumpist efforts to associate support of him with toxic masculinity though.
  18. Knock on wood I (US citizen) have accounts at three different Thai banks including kbank opened 20 years ago and haven't heard a peep. Of course I file FBARs. If the banks aren't going after me I will do nothing.
  19. I find your post bizarre, disingenuous, and off topic as it's obviously a fact that autocratic regimes can occur from the left and the right. It would be total idiocy for anyone to deny that. This topic certainly doesn't deny that.. However the fact in question here is about autocratic regimes in the USA and Hungary both of which happen to be right wing movements.
  20. The Trump / Maga autocratic (anti-democratic) movement is modeled after the success of Orban of Hungary to destroy democracy there. So now that the U.S. voters have done what they have done, it's wise to not only learn from history in a general sense, but more specifically to learn from recent Hungarian history. I Watched Orbán Destroy Hungary’s Democracy. Here’s My Advice for the Trump Era. - POLITICO Many believed that after his first term as president, Donald Trump would end up in the dustbin of history. Now Trump is back, and the United States is about to be ruled for the second time by a right-wing populist. Trump’s goal this time is to remake the American government to enhance his power. He isn’t the first modern right-wing populist to attempt this — he is following a playbook pioneered by Hungary’s Viktor Orbán. I lived through Orbán’s power grab as a member of Hungary’s parliament and have been researching populism since. I’ve learned a few things along the way that might help Trump’s opponents understand how he won and how they can fight back.
  21. They are indeed scapegoated and anyone denying that hasn't been paying attention. Trump’s new anti-trans advertising is pure scapegoating | Vox
