Not true. Just try to get an appointment at any Mexican consulate in the US for a permanent or temporary residence application interview. They are swamped! International Living reports a 1676% increase in interest on their information about how to leave the U.S. Not only for retirees either. The reasons are obvious. The cost of living especially for housing. The low quality of life except for the wealthy. The toxic environment from cold civil war style political divisions. Some were attracted to more lax Covid policies.

As a non Russian expat depending on the global financial system working, I can well imagine the pain, panic and indeed devastation of that being shut off. He probably has a point. So Russia etc. will retaliate probably with cyber warfare perhaps messing up OUR access to the global financial system. So back to the Russians abroad it seems to me that those that didn't bring in a pile of dollars or Euros are really up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Who if anyone will help them? Will the Russian government organize evacuation flights?
