The aims of both movements are very, very similar. Motivated by POLITICS. Yes it IS a slippery slope. Did you digest these various anti LGBT bills are popping up nationally? Not only about trans but everything LGBT. Medical care for trans made a FELONY in Alabama. Do you realize that part of this movement is to reverse marriage equality? There used to be hope for national anti-discrimination laws for housing and employment. That is dead now. The right wing Christians killed it. The fact that American right wingers have allied themselves with Putin is entirely relevant. Some have gone into the closet about that since the invasion of Ukraine, but many have not changed their stripes. Tucker Carlson the grand Poobah of American right wing Putin lovers is featured often on Russia's propaganda. Tucker has the most popular cable tv show in the U.S. That is the opposite of fringe. I think you're very wrong to discount this connection. We see it in other countries right wing's too, such as France, Hungary, etc. No Support: Russia’s “Gay Propaganda” Law Imperils LGBT Youth | HRW

What's the current vaccination rate in Thailand including among elderly? I think it's still not great and also so many started with a "not so good" brand. Personally I think that may be the main reason Thailand is on a different schedule. Sure there are inconsistencies and mistakes. That has happened everywhere.

Really in most cases comparing to Hitler means you lost the debate, but in the case of Putin and his invasion and war crimes in Ukraine, the comparison is entirely accurate.

Your observation is not original and I think all thoughtful people have thought of it themselves, but this topic is about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

I haven't done a lot of reading on theories and optimal tactics for playing Wordle but I saw something recently that resonated to me. It suggested there are two basic ways of playing. Playing to win in as few tries as possible. OR Playing to solve it but not worrying about taking 5 or 6. Without realizing it before, I find that I've been playing a combination of those. If my first two words give a lot of information on included letters and positioning, I definitely go for trying to solve it quickly. That tactic means you will use those already known letters in any tries but the downside is that you aren't using many new letters to learn what isn't in the word. If not much is known after two tries, then using a word with no hits is not a waste because you learn something from it, and that increases the chances that you'll solve it even it is takes till 6.

Without getting into the vagueness of that post (one million dead or what?) it's just the typical whataboutism. Because of fill in the blank, there should be no response to Ukraine. That doesn't wash! Next ,,,,

As far as the free speech issue: It is true that there are anti free speech forces from the right and the left. For an excellent example, follow the commentaries of Bill Maher on the censorship of comedians on college campuses, obviously that is coming from the left. But THIS TOPIC is about anti LGBT laws in schools (with anti CRT laws being closely related). That anti free speech movement (among other ills) to erase LGBT everything in classrooms in ALL GRADES is strictly coming from the right wing, and more specifically from the Christian right wing. It may find support from other low information types that haven't bothered to digest the massive implications of these bills on ALL GRADES though. But the activists pushing these bills -- totally right wing. No doubt about that at all.

No prizes sought, snookums. Donald Trump Began to 'Resemble Putin' As President: Ex-Adviser Fiona Hill (newsweek.com) There is also the dangerous irony that a pro Putin fascist may soon win leadership in France, a major Nato player. That would be tragic for Ukraine and the west. France’s Marine Le Pen Is the Putin Fan Who Could Screw Us All (thedailybeast.com)

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital

Longer and not so cold. -
Oh, mary, please. This isn't about your personal problems on the forum. The Jews comparison is about minority groups being scapegoated for political gain. I brought up free speech in relation to the anti LGBT school laws. They are definitely anti free speech laws coming from the right. I've explained how numerous times already. The right is doing a very similar thing with the anti CRT laws.

Woke fighting force? That's a Russian propaganda talking point which they got from maga rhetoric Very revealing.

It's Putin.

You're flailing all over the place now. Let's focus on Putin and Ukraine here as Putin is objectively behaving like Hitler.

So the U.S. would be invading Mexico and/or Canada, intentionally slaughtering civilians, and shelling cities to dust? Your analogy is garbage. I think by now there is MAINSTREAM western support across most of the political spectrum to not sit back and watch the slaughter any longer. Yes Ukraine accomplished a miracle in Kyiv, but now it's a new war and repeating that miracle in the east and coast doesn't seem particularly likely. Of course in the U.S. the FAR right (represented by many MAGAs such as the vile super troll Marjorie Taylor Greene) and the FAR left (represented by types like Glen Greenwald and Oliver Stone) will always be isolationist. Yes, escalating is a risk but now that the world can see what Putin is all about (as if we didn't already know) that needs to be weighed against the risk of not escalating.

Same thing with the Nazis and Hitler Youth. -
I think there is majority popular support in the west now for NATO to get DIRECTLY involved in defending Ukraine against war criminal Putin IN Ukraine. Obviously NATO has held back because of the risk of poking the bear, but it's impossible to know the risk, and clearly it's immoral to just sit back and watch Putin undertake the mass slaughter of Ukrainians with an ideology meant to completely erase the Ukrainian nation with no limits of murdering it's people. Ukraine in NATO or not, if the west doesn't stand up now, what will it take? Do we really need to wait until Putin uses chemical weapons or nukes to get the message? I wonder how forum members feel about this (discounting the vocal minority of Putinistas or apologists posting here). Also NATO direct involvement in Ukraine could and probably should still be short of U.S. direct involvement in Ukraine. US could do support from Europe but adding the risk of direct nuclear power confrontation is probably not even necessary. NATO could easily beat Putin. Why doesn't it? Imagine the tragedy if Putin meets his goals.

Right wingers have massively escalated against everything LGBT. People defending this are defending vicious scapegoating, extreme anti-free speech censorship, ignorance, and bigotry using intimidation threat tactics. I suggest such people (the subset that aren't anti-semitic) do a mental test. Replace the word Jews for LGBTQ and ask yourself -- would that be OK? So why is attacking LGBTQ people this way OK? This is the classic tactic of totalitarian / authoritarian governments throughout history -- viciously scapegoat already widely hated minorities. Putin is doing this in Russia (though he's currently busy with being a war criminal) and one of the two major parties in the US that will likely soon take over congress and already totally controls the supreme court, is doing it in the U.S. More than 300 anti-LGBTQ bills pending state legislatures in 2022 | Watch (msn.com)

Yes we know what war criminal Putin has announced but we don't know yet what the Russian positions will actually be in time for the announced propaganda party. -
I hope you're right that the law will be struck down but I am not confident about that as thanks to the last one term president there are very many right wing anti minority civil rights judges. Also these kinds of right wing intimidation laws are a significant national trend Not only about LGBT but also CRT and of course abortion as seen in extreme example in Texas.
