Dumb luck then. Born into a time where we could squander without personal consequence millions of years of stored fossil fuels. So much we didn't earn. We were gifted.

LGBT Youth Scotland Faces Backlash Over Self-Harm Guidance
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
To be clear I think the proper thing to do is to advise to seek professional help for cutters. That definitely indicates a psychological disorder that should be addressed. But there is no way that I believe for one second that people are calling this place saying they are going to commit suicide and getting the response well OK matey but be sure to use a sterile weapon. I think the article insidiously implies that and that is obviously NOT the policy there. -
Yes Trump did do that in the state of the union address. Which begs the question yet again. Did Trump know that was a lie or is he simply a total moron that actually believed that? Of course we know that the entire maga fascist brand has learned that they can lie without consequence and it actually helps them. They're eating the cats! They're eating the dogs!

I think Musk / DOGE is much more corrupt than any agencies that he is smashing. He's clearly conflicted. If you don't see that, sorry, you're blind. I'm for rational surgical style reform of government agencies. The goal is good government and serving the people better. Governments aren't businesses like X.

LGBT Youth Scotland Faces Backlash Over Self-Harm Guidance
Jingthing replied to Social Media's topic in World News
This seems to be a semantics issue. Some might read self harm and think that's the same as suicide. No. There are many people that are cutters that cut for other reasons. Obviously it's wrong to emphasize clean blades over seeking help to stop cutting. On the other hand if a person is going to cut, I don't see a problem with suggesting clean blades. There seems to be a lot of unnecessary sensationalism in this news item. -
There are zero people over 140 collecting SS. You've bought into the maga fascist lies. As far as undocumented people using SS numbers, that's hilarious. They're paying into the system that they will never be eligible to collect from. We're talking billions of dollars annually. They actually help the system rather than hurt it.

Actually it isn't. It is a large part of the federal spending though. That's why Musk is going after it as he wants more funding for more tax cuts for himself and other oligarchs.

The sky isn't falling but parts of it are for many dealing with SS now post Musk. Since when is smashing things to pieces a rational solution to fix things? To the maga cultists, do you need to wait for the leopard to actually start eating YOUR face before you wake up and see something is terribly wrong with these tactics?

Because the doge goal is to save money to be used for tax cuts for oligarchs. Not serving the public.

The key issue is whether you're telling SS that you live abroad or not. If you live abroad and you dont report that which is required to do you won't need to do the proof of life form. You could also sign up for zip code based Medicare Advantage which can be used for emergency Medicare care abroad. Based on fraud. I would be shocked it Doge doesn't get to this issue. It's perfect for them. Being an expat isn't maga.

No Project 2025. No Musk.

Are you ready for smartphones to become obselete?
Jingthing replied to Jingthing's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
It's being developed now. Obviously about AI. -
Apparently this will happen in about ten years or even much sooner. Most of us I presume have adapted to smart phones becoming necessary to exist. This was generally harder the older you are and obviously super easy for digital natives. But how do you feel about the next step? Personally I've had enough. I would be happy to see smart phones get better and better, especially more secure, but don't want to ever give them up.

They're deliberately trying to break it. Then they can "fix" it to meet their actual goals and their actual goals have nothing to do with serving the public. But many of you guys voted for this.

Heads up. First of all many expats have a U.S. address on record with the SSA even though they're expats. That is arguably fraud. I expect the Dogey tech bros will get to to that issue eventually and then who knows what? If I had to guess based on the sleazy tactics of the Dogey tech bros, I would expect benefits cutoff, or even worse, with difficult reinstatement paths. I think that is very big issue as I'm sure the percentage of expats that do that is quite high, especially those in Mexico. People do that to avoid the proof of life letter. etc. As far as what we do know already, the Dogey tech bros are sad that it turns out there aren't actually tens of millions of people over age 150 collecting benefits. It turns out the that the level of fraud easily found is actually very minimal. So now what? I'll tell you. They'll make it harder and harder to make new claims and make changes, meaning many people will be cut off for very long periods of time unfairly. They have announced that very soon MILLIONS of letters will go announcing AUDITS of SS recipients. This includes retirement status. What red flags for an audit? Changing your address. Changing your direct deposit details. Dealing with such an audit where you may even need a lawyer will be big fun from abroad. Many of you voted for this. I hope you're happy.

Don't doubt they are trying to do that. Who's gonna stop them? The fascist Trump regime is now ignoring court orders.
