No problems with Bangkok bank and elite visa after 4 years. I recently had to setup face ID scan in a branch ...and then use it to make a (bigger than normal) payment. It is a pain to use.

Just before Xmas there is a big event at lumpinee park, to raise money for the red cross. 10 day event and attracts millions of people. Chaos but great!

Crazy amount of 'nature' coffee shops around Bangkok. Different day, different office 😀 (4 places I use regularly)

I used to work in my lonely big house back in the UK but now I travel to amazing coffee shops and meet lovely folks. An unusual one is the BTS headquarters near chatuchak. What an office!

(cropped your post) The easiest 12 month extension on elite is to land at swampy, show your elite card and get the stamp. You also save 1,900 baht which is a bit of disgrace charging us that IMO. I've done in-country extension too. Quicker to do it myself than get elite to do it as you have to do 2 trips to take then collect your docs.

Central Bangkok is like a party! Live bands in the streets. Everyone in Santa outfits and red colours. Its more like new years eve in the daytime!

A lot of cakes are mostly air here, they weigh nothing. But this was like a breeze block, incredibly dense. Bit pricey but it was Xmas day!

Anything like a lat pulldown or pull ups hits my left side back muscle. Shoulder press does my right shoulder in. Bicep curls does my right elbow Just a disaster 😅 I got one of these for about 2,500 baht, which helps to fight simple tightness. It's powerful but can only do so much.

Love it in Bangkok. Amazing. Xmas day last year I ended up in the cheesecake factory in central world, for desert. At +450 baht that is my most expensive piece of cake here!

100 press-ups and 100 squats each day (25x4 in sets). I love the gym, pull ups/dips etc ...but sadly my muscles and back just disagree and now not worth the injuries.

I think it starts off young and parents have the responsibility to ingrain portion size and moderation. I can envisage grandma looking after kids and killing them with mounds of calorific love! I got everything I wanted as a kid and was fed mostly junk. My sister turned out obese, but lucky I got smart and adapted.

Where I live in Bangkok, asians dominate the spending power. Most are locals too because I hear them speak when working on their laptops. Foreigners are largely irrelevant - so you get a good feel towards real attitude...and it's been nothing short of wonderful. Appearance goes a long way here, unlike Pattaya for example. Nobody wears singlets and very few would be seen in flip flops. No gaudy tattoos. Locals steer clear of foreigners there but they love chatting with nice foreigners here. Majority low-class foreigner areas can be a bit dire to live. Can't blame the locals for only being there for commercial reasons.
