The woman, identified only as Miss Biu was found in a distressed state at Khao Phra Tamnak, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. At the scene, rescuers discovered a bottle of water, a packet of mothballs, and the bottle of insecticide, which were collected as evidence. Rescue personnel provided immediate first aid before rushing her to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, as it was unclear how much of the insecticide she had drank. Her brother and mother stayed close by, offering comfort and support Miss Biu's mother, identified as Miss Bee, recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the rescue. She explained that she and her son had grown concerned after being unable to reach her daughter. The brother persisted in calling until she finally answered, crying uncontrollably. When pressed for her location, she revealed her whereabouts, prompting her family to search for her immediately. Upon finding her sitting alone in the dark with the bottle of insecticide in hand, the brother quickly intervened, snatching the bottle away before contacting emergency services. The mother revealed that this was not the first time her daughter had attempted to harm herself. In a previous incident, Miss Biu had also tried to take her life but was saved in time. Sorry but that is not correct. Each airline will have their own policies on the transportation of ashes. From the UK government guidance. “Bringing ashes back to the UK You do not need a permit to bring ashes to the UK. You can usually take them on a plane with you or put them in the hold as part of your luggage, but you should: tell the airline in advance that you’re planning to bring them on the plane take the cremation certificate with you” https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-to-do-after-a-british-national-dies-abroad#:~:text=Bringing ashes back to the,the cremation certificate with you

Pictures from responders. A fire broke out at a three-storey veterinary hospital in Soi Phonpraphanimit, (Soi Siam Country Club), Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi, on the morning of January 9. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze without any human casualties, although two cats lost their lives due to smoke inhalation. The fire was reported to authorities at 07:30. Emergency services, including the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Rescue Unit and fire trucks from Nong Prue Municipality, responded promptly to the scene. The building, a commercial property consisting of two adjoining units, had smoke billowing from its windows and flames originating on the ground floor. Upon arrival, rescue teams discovered six residents, including children, stranded on the third-floor balcony. Using an aerial hydraulic platform cage, all six were successfully rescued and brought to safety. They were treated for mild smoke inhalation but were otherwise unharmed. The fire’s source was identified as a fish tank and shelves holding pet supplies on the ground floor, which sustained partial damage. Firefighters brought the flames under control, though smoke lingered throughout the building. Inside the hospital, which housed numerous animals in its care, staff and rescuers found eight dogs and seven cats confined to cages. While most animals were rescued safely, two cats succumbed to smoke inhalation. The hospital owner, 40-year-old Anusara Saisaat, recounted that she and her family were asleep when they were awakened by the smell of smoke and shouting from outside. Upon investigating, she discovered smoke filling the ground floor. She and her family fled to the third-floor balcony, where they awaited rescue. Thanks to the swift actions of a bystander who alerted authorities, the situation was brought under control before it could escalate further. Anusara has since made arrangements for nearby veterinary facilities to provide temporary shelter and care for the surviving animals. Authorities suspect the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2025-01-09

Pictures from responders. A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in the early hours of January 9, after colliding with a parked 18-wheeler on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya. The incident occurred at approximately 02:05 near Home Pro retail centre on the Sukhumvit Road, between Central and North Pattaya. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation were alerted to the crash and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a blue-and-black Honda Wave 110i motorcycle with registration number from Pichit province, lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle was damaged, and a safety helmet was also discovered nearby. The motorcyclist, identified as 25-year-old Mr Sahasawat Ounkongrach from Phetchabun province, was found in critical condition. He had sustained a head injury, a large laceration on his forehead and abrasions across his body. He was lying unconscious in a pool of blood, barely breathing. Rescue personnel administered first aid, before rushing him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The 18-wheeler, belonging to Thai Rung Pattana Transport Co., Ltd., was turning but stopped, with its hazard lights on, occupying two lanes. Its trailer showed minor damage to the rear where the motorcycle had struck. The truck driver, Mr Decha Tumtap, 34, explained that he had parked the vehicle outside the retail centre, waiting for the gate to be unlocked so he could deliver goods. “Usually, someone is there to open the gate immediately, but today I had to wait for security staff to arrive,” he said. “While waiting, I suddenly heard a loud crash. The motorcycle was travelling at high speed and struck the rear of my trailer. The rider was thrown onto the road.” Mr Decha added that he immediately tried to signal approaching traffic to prevent further incidents and called for help. Witnesses corroborated the driver’s account, stating that the 18-wheeler was stationary due to the locked gate. One witness noted that the motorcyclist had exited the bypass tunnel at high speed, overtaken their car, and changed lanes abruptly before colliding with the truck. Police Lieutenant Sakayapat Chaidech, Deputy Investigator from Pattaya City Police Station, inspected the scene and recorded evidence. The truck driver was taken to the station for questioning, and authorities plan to review CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing. -- 2025-01-09

Picture courtesy of Daily Mail. The grief-stricken family of a British tourist are desperately seeking answers after his naked body was discovered floating in the sea near Patong Beach, Phuket. Regan Kelly, 28, from Selsdon, south London, had been in Thailand for just a few days when the tragedy occurred in the early hours of 3 January. The building surveyor, described by his family as sociable and mature, had arrived in Thailand on 30 December for a month-long backpacking trip. He was last seen alive at the bar of the Mad Monkey Hostel, where CCTV footage showed him in an apparently heated conversation with an unidentified man. Kelly’s sister, Laurie Blackall, revealed that the footage showed Regan visibly upset before abruptly leaving the bar and heading towards the beach. Moments later, the same man, described as a muscly tourist wearing a white t-shirt and shorts, was seen following him. Additional CCTV footage from a nearby hotel showed Regan sprinting towards the beach, with the unknown man following approximately 15 seconds behind. The footage ends there, leaving many unanswered questions about what happened next. The next morning, a watersports instructor discovered Regan’s naked body floating face down in the sea. Thai authorities identified him using photos provided by his family, who had reported him missing earlier that day. Laurie and her father are now in Thailand attempting to uncover the circumstances surrounding Regan’s death. The family is also raising funds to repatriate his body to the UK, where they hope a second post-mortem will shed more light on his final moments. “We just want answers,” Laurie said. “The Thai authorities have said it was drowning, but something doesn’t sit right. We need to understand what happened, and we want him examined by a British coroner.” Laurie described Regan as “mature for his age” and “the most beautiful person,” who would be deeply missed by his friends, colleagues, and family. She added that Regan had been a regular communicator, sending messages and photos since his arrival in Thailand. His sudden disappearance on 3 January, coupled with the mysterious circumstances of his death, has left the family searching for closure. Laurie expressed surprise at seeing her brother upset on the CCTV footage, saying, “He’s in paradise, and it wasn’t like him to get heated like that.” Regan, an experienced traveller who had visited Southeast Asia before, was known for his friendly and outgoing nature. “He wasn’t a reckless party boy,” Laurie said. “He went there to backpack, see the sights, and make friends – not to cause trouble.” The family are now appealing for the man seen in the CCTV footage to come forward. “I just want to know what was said,” Laurie said. “Maybe he was just having a passionate conversation, talking about life... Judging by what we saw, they could have been having a very deep conversation. But it seems like it was getting heated towards the end.” Regan’s cousin, Larysa, called his death “absolutely devastating,” adding, “He was such a lovely man, always smiling and laughing. It has broken us all.” The family’s grief has been compounded by a series of tragedies in recent years, including the loss of Regan’s mother in 2016 and three uncles in 2023. A fundraising campaign has been launched to cover the costs of repatriating Regan’s body and arranging his funeral. For now, the family remain in Thailand, searching for the truth and working to bring Regan home. Original article: Daily Mail -- 2025-01-09
