Picture and video of the arrest. A 46-year-old former driver was apprehended for stealing his former employer’s belongings, including a briefcase containing 600,000 baht in cash. Police tracked and arrested the suspect, identified as Mr. Thanawat, within 60 hours of the incident. Police Major General Theeradech Thamsuthee, along with senior officers, announced the arrest after the suspect was taken into custody on 20 December outside a residence in Samut Prakan Province. He was charged with “night-time theft while concealing identity and using a vehicle to facilitate the crime,” under an arrest warrant issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court. The incident took place between 17 and 18 December, when the suspect, previously employed as the victim’s driver, returned to his former employer’s residence. Desperate to settle debts, he allegedly climbed over the compound wall, retrieved the car keys from inside the property, and opened the car. Familiar with the location of valuable items, he stole the briefcase containing the cash. The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he acted alone. He fled the scene on a motorbike, returned home in Phra Pradaeng District, and later discarded the briefcase into the Chao Phraya River after removing the cash. Police emphasised the swift investigation, which led to the arrest within 60 hours. The stolen money was reportedly intended for personal debt repayment. The suspect was taken to Bang Phongphang Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police Major General Theeradech also issued a warning to the public regarding home security. Despite securing doors and windows, unexpected incidents such as break-ins can still occur. He advised homeowners to install CCTV cameras, burglar alarms, and secure locks while ensuring valuable items are stored discreetly and securely. The investigation is ongoing, with police exploring additional measures to prevent similar crimes in the future. -- 2024-12-22 ScreenRecording_12-21-2024 13-35-58_1.mp4

The suspect, a 33-year-old woman, fled the scene on a motorcycle following the incident. Police from Khlong Luang Station, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Yosawat Nittiratpattanakhun, was alerted to the shooting at a local shop around 07:30 on December 21. Upon arrival, officers found the body of Ms. Khwandao outside the residence, after neighbours and rescue workers removed her from inside the home. The suspect, Ms.Charoenwattana had been in a relationship with the victim for over 10 years. According to an employee of the shop, the victim and the suspect had been speaking normally the previous evening, showing no signs of conflict. The employee recounted that she returned to the shop at 06:20 to prepare for the victim's planned trip out of town. While carrying out her morning duties, she heard two gunshots but initially thought little of it. It was only when neighbours noticed the victim's car still running outside and went to check that they discovered her lifeless body near the staircase inside the house. Police investigations revealed that the couple had frequent arguments, though the nature of their disputes was unclear. The suspect, who suffers from depression, is believed to have used a firearm to commit the act before fleeing on a motorcycle. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to track her escape route and bring her in for questioning. Neighbours and witnesses expressed shock over the incident, describing the couple as generally close despite occasional disagreements. On the evening of December 21, police officers were able to track down and arrest Ms. Charoenwattana while she was traveling with her sister to the Khon Kaen Bus Terminal. Officers brought her back to Khlong Luang Police Station, Pathum Thani Province, for questioning and legal proceedings. -- 2024-12-22

Picture from responders. A warehouse under construction in Kabin Buri District, Prachinburi, collapsed during the morning of December 21, injuring multiple workers. The incident occurred at 10:30 in Moo 9, Mueang Kao Subdistrict, Kabin Buri District, Prachinburi Province. Emergency responders from the Satchaphutthatham Foundation quickly arrived at the scene. The warehouse, which was being built for a recycling business, had a steel structure over 10 metres high. Reports indicate that the structure collapsed, causing workers who were working at height to fall. Many were pinned under the heavy steel framework, crying out in pain. Rescue teams worked urgently to free those trapped. Initial reports confirmed that six workers sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, head wounds, and other lacerations. They were rushed to Kabin Buri Hospital for treatment. Witnesses stated that the workers had been welding steel beams at the top of the structure when one of the beams collapsed. This caused a chain reaction, pulling down other parts of the steel framework and resulting in the entire structure falling apart. Police from Kabin Buri Police Station are investigating the exact cause of the collapse. They will also question the contractor overseeing the project to determine whether negligence or safety violations contributed to the incident. -- 2024-12-22

Picture from responders. A high-speed chase in Chaiyaphum Province on the morning of December 21, ended in a dramatic crash involving a taxi, a six-wheel truck, and a police car, leaving multiple vehicles wrecked and several people injured. The incident began around 08:20 when officers from the Lat Yai Police Station were alerted by staff at a nearby gas station that a green-and-yellow taxi had refuelled and fled without paying a bill of 1,750 baht. Police patrol units were immediately dispatched to track the vehicle along the Lat Yai–Chaiyaphum City Road. The taxi was eventually spotted near a factory. When police attempted to question the driver, he sped off into Chaiyaphum City, prompting a pursuit. The chase ended when the taxi veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a six-wheel truck before spinning into a police vehicle. The driver of the taxi, identified as Mr. Sanya, a 36-year-old Chaiyaphum native, was taken into custody at the scene. Emergency responders administered first aid to the injured and transported them to Chaiyaphum Hospital for further treatment. The crash left significant damage to all involved vehicles. The six-wheel truck, driven by Mr. Worawit, 38, was carrying stage equipment for an event in Kud Tum, approximately 2 kilometres from the crash site. Mr. Worawit stated that the taxi crossed into his lane at high speed while being pursued by police. Despite attempting to swerve, he could not avoid the collision. During questioning, Mr. Sanya admitted that he had driven from Bangkok to pick up his mother in a nearby district. However, after a disagreement with her, he left the house and stopped at the gas station to refuel. Lacking the funds to pay, he fled the station. Fearful of being charged with thief and aware of a prior legal case against him, Mr. Sanya sped away when he noticed police following him, leading to the crash. Police later confirmed that Mr. Sanya tested negative for drugs. However, his statements during questioning were inconsistent, and investigators plan to conduct further interrogations to establish the full details of the incident. The case remains under investigation, with charges of thief, reckless driving and damage to public and private property expected to follow. -- 2024-12-22 ScreenRecording_12-21-2024 14-50-53_1.mp4

Picture and video from responders. A crash involving five vehicles occurred on Sukprayoon Road near a U-turn by a PTT petrol station in the Kut Ngong sub-district of Chonburi Province in the morning of December 21. A small truck suffered brake failure, crashing into multiple vehicles and leaving two children injured. At 10:30, police officer Pol Lt Thawatchai Laphan from the Panat Nikhom Police Station received a report of the incident. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene alongside local rescue workers. The primary vehicle involved was a white four-wheel truck, registered in Chonburi, loaded with scrap metal. Its front end was heavily damaged. The driver, Ms. Kasarin, 34, along with her two daughters, aged 10 and 8, suffered injuries after the children were thrown from the vehicle during the incident. All three were treated at Panat Nikhom Hospital. According to Ms. Kasarin, the collision occurred as she was driving her children to sell scrap metal. Upon reaching the U-turn, the truck’s brakes failed, causing it to crash into a blue six-wheel Isuzu truck waiting at the U-turn. The impact forced the truck to hit a white Isuzu pickup truck ahead of it. In a panic, Ms. Kasarin lost control of the vehicle, which then shifted into reverse on its own she claims and travelled 300 metres backward at high speed, colliding with a grey Toyota Revo pickup truck. This truck was parked outside a gatage, where it also struck another white Isuzu pickup parked inside the property. After these collisions, the truck spun back into the road, where it was sideswiped by an oncoming 18-wheel Hino trailer truck. Fortunately, no further injuries occurred, although the children were ejected from the vehicle during the chaos. Mrs. Gift, 28, the owner of one of the damaged parked vehicles, described the scene: “I was buying items nearby when I saw the truck lose control. It first hit vehicles at the U-turn, then reversed at high speed. I shouted, ‘We’re doomed!’ just before it hit my car and then another parked car.” Ms. Kasarin admitted that her truck’s insurance policy had expired, leaving her with no coverage for the damages. Police are investigating further to determine the precise cause of the incident. They plan to review CCTV footage and conduct a detailed examination of the truck. Authorities confirmed that legal action will be taken following the completion of the investigation. -- 2024-12-22 ScreenRecording_12-21-2024 13-23-26_1.mp4

Picture from responders. A violent altercation early morning on December 21, left a foreign man injured outside a convenience store on Jomtien Beach Road, Soi 8, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. At approximately 05:20, authorities received a report of an assault involving a injury. Upon arrival at the scene, they found a foreign man, believed to be Norwegian and approximately 60 years old, sitting on the ground in distress. He was shirtless, wearing only denim shorts, and bleeding profusely from a deep gash on his left elbow caused by a sharp object. Blood stained the pavement as rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to provide first aid. Due to significant blood loss, the man was pale and was urgently transported to Pattaya City Hospital for treatment. According to eyewitnesses, the injured man had no identification documents, and no one in the area knew his name. Municipal officer Mr. Korbsak Uisawang, stationed at the Pattaya Marine Services Centre, revealed that a group of teenagers on motorcycles had reported the incident to him, requesting assistance. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ms. Rasmee Wongsrithep, who is mute and disabled, reportedly attacked her husband during an argument that began elsewhere before escalating outside the convenience store. Nearby residents explained through sign language that Ms. Rasmee was enraged over her husband’s alleged infidelity with another woman. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident while the injured man receives medical care. -- 2024-12-21

Picture captured from CCTV A Thai taxi driver and former assistant village headman, Mr. Chiwun Chimphlee, 50, is seeking justice after being brutally assaulted by a foreigner in Pattaya. The attack, captured on CCTV, has raised concerns about the lack of prompt legal action. The assault took place on the night of December 18, at approximately 23.20 when Mr. Chiwun was dropping off a foreign customer at a cannabis shop in the Kasetsin area of Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. A European man, estimated to be in his 50s, appeared frustrated while attempting to open the shop's sliding glass door. A female employee began to assist, but it was Mr. Chiwun who stepped in to open the door. Without warning, the foreigner headbutted Mr. Chiwun in the face and shoved him onto a sofa. He then removed his leather belt with a metal buckle and struck Mr. Chiwun multiple times on the face and head, delivering punches as well. Mr. Chiwun fled to the back of the shop to escape the assault. The attack left Mr. Chiwun with a ruptured blood vessel in his right eye, cuts to his nasal cavity, a split lip, and severe bruising and swelling on his face and head. CCTV footage from the shop recorded the entire incident, providing clear evidence of the violent attack. Following the incident, Mr. Chiwun filed a police report with Pattaya City Police Station and sought medical attention. Despite providing evidence and identifying the suspect, who is believed to be staying at a nearby hotel, no arrest has been made. Frustrated by the lack of action, Mr. Chiwun turned to the media for help. "It has been two days, and the attacker is still free," he said. "As a Thai citizen, I deserve respect and protection under the law. Allowing this individual to remain at large is unacceptable. He could harm someone else." Mr. Chiwun hopes public attention will pressure authorities to act swiftly and bring the foreigner to justice. The case has sparked discussions about the need for stronger enforcement of laws protecting Thai citizens from violence, especially in cases involving tourists. Police investigations are ongoing and no details on the name or nationality of the attacker has been released. Mr. Chiwun awaits updates on whether justice will be served. -- 2024-12-21

Picture from responders, CCTV below. A shocking three-vehicle collision at an unmarked intersection in Ban Din Sai On, Hua Na Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu , has left eight people injured, with two in critical condition. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred at approximately 14:10 on December 20. The footage, shared by the Facebook page “Chonburi Breaking News (Local Newsroom),” shows a white car driving straight through the intersection, while a bronze pickup truck approaches from the left, forming a T-shaped traffic flow. Simultaneously, a third vehicle arrives, creating a chaotic moment where all three vehicles collide violently in the centre of the crossroads. The post described the scene, stating, “#NongBuaLamphu A three-vehicle collision at Ban Din Sai On intersection has resulted in eight injuries, two critically. One individual required CPR. Everything happened so fast.” The intersection, known locally as a “judgment crossing” due to its lack of traffic signals or warning lights, proved hazardous as the three vehicles arrived at the same time, leading to a devastating crash. The impact was so severe that some occupants were ejected from their vehicles. Emergency responders confirmed that eight people sustained injuries, two of whom are in critical condition. One individual required CPR at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. The lack of traffic signals at the intersection is believed to have been a significant factor in the crash.
