  2. Picture from responders. A 7-year-old boy lost his life in an incident involving a trailer carrying a rice harvester in Khuean Dan village, Khok Sawang Subdistrict, Nong Ki District, Buriram Province. The incident occurred on December 15, when Pol. Lt. Sakkapong Pholkert, an investigator at Nong Ki Police Station, was notified of the tragedy. Rescuers from the Nong Ki Foundation were called to the scene, where they found a boy, identified as Master Rapeepat, nicknamed “Nong Pee,” a first-grader, lying lifeless on the village’s concrete road. The boy was crushed by the right wheels of the heavily loaded trailer, with one wheel pressing on his hips and another on his head, causing a fatal skull fracture. Rescuers faced difficulties recovering the body due to the weight of the trailer, requiring two hydraulic jacks to lift the vehicle. The process took about an hour. According to Mr. Manas, 54, a local resident from Nakhon Ratchasima Province and the driver of the tractor, he had been hauling the rice harvester home after completing the harvest. He explained that he was driving slowly because of the heavy load. He noticed two children playing with kites in a nearby sugarcane field that had been burned. One was flying the kite, and the other, later identified as Nong Pee, was chasing after it. Mr. Manas initially assumed the children saw his vehicle and were keeping a safe distance. However, moments later, he heard a loud noise from the back of the trailer and stopped to investigate, only to discover the boy had been run over. Nong Pee’s grandmother, Mrs. Muan, 67, expressed her grief, recounting that her grandson was passionate about flying kites. She recalled that just days earlier, his kite had become tangled in a power line, prompting his parents to buy him a new one. Tragically, he was playing with the new kite when the incident occurred. She urged police to thoroughly investigate the incident to determine the exact cause. The boy’s mother, Ms. Siranee, 26, said she and her husband were at work when they received the heartbreaking call from her mother. She revealed that her son loved kites and often played with them near their home in a cleared sugarcane field. She had repeatedly warned him about safety and urged him not to stray too far. “I never imagined something like this would happen, even though we tried to keep him safe,” she said tearfully. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure all circumstances surrounding the incident are clarified. -- 2024-12-16

  4. Pictured captured from CCTV. A 29-year-old Thai delivery rider, identified as Mr. Banphot was arrested by officers from the Phra Racha Wang Police Station on December 15 for allegedly stealing 15,000 baht from a Russian tourist and subsequently losing the money while gambling. The arrest took place at 18:45 on Taewang Road in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. Authorities apprehended Mr. Banphot along with his white-and-black Honda motorcycle. A background check revealed that he had a prior criminal record, including theft in 2014 and violating product regulations in 2023. The theft occurred on December 13, when Ms. Anna Petrova Andreevna, a 25-year-old Russian tourist, reported to police that 15,000 baht had been stolen from her bag. Ms. Petrova stated she was waiting for a motorcycle ride booked through a popular ride-hailing app to visit Wat Saket. The suspect, posing as the driver she had summoned, arrived on a white Honda motorcycle. He asked her to hand over her bag, claiming he would secure it to the front of the motorcycle for safety. He then drove around the Grand Palace area before dropping her off near Wat Pho. After pretending to assist her further, including fake phone calls to the actual app driver, the suspect fled. Upon checking her bag, Ms. Petrova discovered that 15,000 baht in cash was missing. She immediately reported the theft to police and authorised them to pursue legal action on her behalf, as she was scheduled to leave Thailand on December 18. The investigation identified the suspect as Mr. Banphot. On December 15, traffic officers stopped him near Taewang Road for obscuring his license plate with a keychain doll. Recognising him as the suspect, they detained him for questioning. During interrogation, Mr. Banphot confessed to the theft. He admitted to using a ride-hailing app account belonging to an acquaintance and picking up the tourist. Upon seeing the large amount of cash in her bag, he decided to steal it. While driving, he discreetly removed 15,000 baht from the tourist’s bag and then told her she had mistakenly booked the wrong driver. He dropped her off at her original pick-up point before fleeing. He later switched motorcycles at a residence in Dusit district and used a black Honda 125 to avoid recognition. He then gambled the stolen money playing snooker in the Saphan Oi area, losing the entire amount. Authorities have charged Mr. Banphot with theft and are preparing to prosecute him under Thai law. He is currently in police custody at the Phra Racha Wang Police Station, along with evidence including his motorcycle. This incident serves as a reminder to tourists and residents alike to remain cautious and vigilant while using transportation services. -- 2024-12-16

  10. Picture from responders. A tragic end has come to the search for 4-year-old Cholawit , known as “August,” who went missing from his home on December 14, in Ban Bak Yai, Nam Oam Subdistrict, Khor Wang District, Yasothon. The young boy, who was diagnosed with autism, was last seen around 07:00 when he wandered away from his home. A full-scale search was launched by local authorities and volunteers, who combed the area from morning until late evening without success, pausing for the night before resuming efforts the next day. At approximately 10:00 on December 15, police were alerted to the discovery of a body floating in a water pond about 1.2 kilometres from the boy’s house. The pond, located in the middle of a rice field, was about 2.5 metres deep. Upon arrival, authorities identified the body as that of August, lying face down at the water’s edge. He was wearing a red Superman t-shirt, blue vest, and red shorts. Rescue workers retrieved the body for examination by medical personnel. Initial investigations found no signs of foul play, and it is believed that the cause of death was drowning. The boy’s family, although devastated, expressed no suspicion regarding the cause of his death, and the body was handed over to the family. The discovery was made by 70-year-old Phonthipa, a local villager who had been working in her rice field. She initially mistook the boy’s body for a discarded doll, but upon closer inspection, realised it was the missing child. She immediately alerted authorities, who confirmed the tragic discovery. August’s family had been living together in the household, which included his mother, younger sibling, and aunt and uncle. His mother had separated from his father some time ago. August was known to be highly independent despite his condition, and his family had always been vigilant. The boy had a tendency to wander off, a behaviour that sometimes caused difficulties even when he attended the local daycare centre, where staff had to be especially cautious to prevent him from running away. Authorities continue to express their condolences to the grieving family, emphasising the challenges of caring for children with special needs, especially those who are prone to wander. -- 2024-12-16

  12. Picture and video from responders. A fire broke out at a plastic factory in Soi Bang Kradi 32, located in Sam Dam, Bang Khun Thian district. Firefighters rushed to the scene as thick smoke billowed into the sky. The roof of the factory partially collapsed, and explosions were heard intermittently. Initial reports confirmed no casualties or injuries, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Rama 199 Emergency Radio Centre reported the incident at 13:35 on December 15, alerting fire and rescue teams to the two-story concrete structure. The blaze quickly consumed both floors, concentrated around the production machinery. Firefighters from Bang Khun Thian Fire and Rescue Station deployed water and foam in an attempt to contain the fire. By 15:15 thick black smoke continued to blanket the sky. The building’s roof structure had partially caved in, and periodic explosions prompted authorities to evacuate some personnel from the premises. Despite the challenges, firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the front, rear, and eastern sections of the building, and neighbouring premises. The fire was contained early evening, but fire teams monitored the situation throughout the night, in case of any flare ups. The authorities had warned people to stay indoors with windows closed, because of the toxic smoke. The authorities set up air monitoring points around the local communities and will also test water supplies on December 16. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage remain undetermined as officials prepare to conduct a thorough investigation, but initial reports are that the fire was caused by a damaged, leaking chemical supply pipe which ignited. -- 2024-12-16 ScreenRecording_12-15-2024 17-44-31_1.mp4

  14. Picture from responders. The Ban Song Muang Rescue Unit in Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, received a report on December 14, from a local market vendor who discovered a suspicious object resembling a bomb. The object was found by the roadside along the Phachi-Non Charoen road, near Ban Nong Nam Khun, Non Charoen Subdistrict, Ban Kruat District, Buriram. Initial inspections by the rescue unit confirmed the object was indeed a bomb, though its exact type remained unidentified. To ensure safety, the team encircled the bomb with old car tyres to minimise potential risks and contacted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team for further investigation. Upon arrival, the Buriram EOD team identified the object as a BDU-33 aerial bomb, dating back to World War II. According to Sgt. Witheth Saelorat, an EOD officer, the bomb, while still functional, posed minimal threat as it resembled a practice bomb designed to create noise rather than cause significant destruction. The bomb was safely removed from the site and is now awaiting controlled disposal. The discovery was made by a market vendor who was driving to his next location. Feeling the urgent need to relieve himself, he stopped by the roadside and began unzipping his pants. However, he was startled when he noticed the bomb lying in front of him. He immediately fled back to his vehicle, abandoning his initial purpose. Chayanin Putthichat, head of the Ban Song Muang Rescue Unit, speculated that the bomb may have been deliberately placed in the open to ensure it would be discovered. “If someone intended to hide it, they would have thrown it into the water instead,” he remarked. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and authorities have secured the area, emphasising public safety during the removal and disposal process. -- 2024-12-16

The crash occurred at approximately 05:00, near Wat Wang U, Moo 5, Laem Pradu Subdistrict, Ban Pho District, at kilometre marker 10+600. Police from Ban Pho Police Station, led by Pol. Capt. Theep Mailuekdee, and rescue workers responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered a white Isuzu 10-wheeler truck with a flat left front tyre parked by the roadside. The truck was driven by Mr. Phongsak 40. Underneath the rear of the truck was a white Honda PCX motorcycle bearing Chachoengsao license plates. Tragically, the body of Mr. Kittiwat 16, was found nearby, lying face down next to the vehicle. Ms. Warinya 19, who was riding her motorcycle about 50 metres behind Kittiwat at the time of the crash, recounted the events. She stated that they had spent the evening at a friend’s house nearby. Around 04:45 Kittiwat decided to leave for home on his motorcycle, while she followed at a distance. When she reached the scene, she found that Kittiwat’s motorcycle had collided with the rear of the parked truck. She immediately contacted his relatives and emergency responders. Friends described Kittiwat as a diligent young man who worked part-time on weekends to support himself. On the night of the crash, he had finished his shift at around 23:00 and had gone to visit friends since the factory where he worked was closed the following day. Tragically, he never made it home. Preliminary inspections revealed that Kittiwat suffered multiple fractures across his body, likely caused by the high-speed impact with the truck. Authorities suspect that he may have been riding at excessive speed when the collision occurred. The victim’s body has been transported to Ban Pho Hospital for a detailed autopsy, and police are continuing their investigation into the incident. -- 2024-12-16

  18. Picture of the suspect. Police have arrested Isarathep 34, also known as “Boy Talad Pla” (Fish Market Boy), in connection with the brutal murder of Ms. Patamaporn 30, who was found dead with 20 stab wounds in her rented room in Mueang District, Ang Thong Province. The arrest was made on December 15, by Pol. Lt. Col. Sitthichok Sitthisophon, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Ang Thong Police Station, in coordination with officers from Huai Khwang Police Station. Boy was apprehended while hiding in a nondescript residence on Watthana Tham Road, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. He was brought back to Ang Thong for questioning under an arrest warrant issued by the Ang Thong Provincial Court (No. 266/2567) on December 14, 2024, on charges of premeditated murder. Police later transported the suspect to the forensic science unit in Ang Thong to collect DNA and other evidence for comparison with materials recovered from the crime scene. Authorities also planned a crime scene reenactment later in the day, which was cancelled due threats from a very hostile crowd. During the interrogation, Boy confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been in a relationship with Ms. Patamaporn for over three months. He believed she had separated from her husband until a recent argument revealed otherwise. Boy claimed the conflict escalated after he attempted to collect money on her behalf from her friend, who later informed her husband. This led to tension between Boy and Ms. Patamaporn, as she accused him of disrupting her family. Boy also stated that Ms. Patamaporn had repeatedly threatened to expose his criminal past and had tried to end their relationship, insisting on remaining just casual partners. Jealous and frustrated, Boy admitted to pressuring her to commit to him exclusively, but she refused. On the day of the murder, Boy went to her room to confront her. After being allowed inside, an argument ensued, during which Boy “lost control” and stabbed her with a knife he found in the room. He claimed he could not recall how many times he stabbed her, as he was in a fit of rage. Before fleeing the scene, Boy let the air out of her car tyres, allegedly to prevent her from leaving and to force her to resolve the issue. Boy denied premeditating the murder, insisting he had no intention of harming her when he arrived. “I loved her deeply and supported her financially throughout our relationship. I didn’t mean for this to happen,” he said. Boy expressed regret for his actions, stating, “I cannot undo what I’ve done. I deeply apologise to Ms. Patamaporn and her family for what happened.” Authorities have charged him with premeditated murder, and he remains in custody at Ang Thong Police Station as the investigation continues. 22. Picture from responders. In a horrifying hit-and-run accident, an 87-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Ratchaburi Province, with his body dragged over 10 kilometres before being abandoned by the driver. The incident has left the victim's family and community in deep shock and outrage. At around 06:30 on December 15, Police Lieutenant Polanchai Chaiyana of the Photharam Police Station received a report of a dead body found along a road near a railway underpass in Soi Chet Samian 35, Photharam District. The victim was identified as Mr. Boonchu, a resident of Nong Klang Na Subdistrict. The investigation revealed that Mr. Boonchu had been sweeping the front of his house, as he did daily, before crossing the road to dispose of garbage. While crossing, he was hit by a silver Isuzu pickup truck, which fled the scene with his body lodged under the vehicle. The victim's relatives, who witnessed the collision, attempted to chase the truck and alerted rescue teams to follow its trail. Following a trail of engine oil and blood along the road, authorities eventually located the victim's body approximately 10 kilometres from the initial collision site. The body was abandoned on the roadside, while the vehicle continued to flee. The suspect's vehicle was later found abandoned in front of Wat Muang Temple in Thachumphon Subdistrict. The driver, identified as Mr. Paeng, 61, from Nakhon Ratchasima Province, admitted to being behind the wheel. He claimed that he had panicked after the collision and fled the scene. The truck showed clear signs of damage from the crash. Mr. Paeng stated that he was on his way home from a market when the crash occurred. He has been taken into custody for further questioning. Medical examiners reported severe injuries to the victim, including a large head wound, nearly severed left arm, and abrasions on his body caused by being dragged along the road. The wounds were so severe that parts of the victim's body were reduced to exposed bone. The victim's granddaughter, Ms. Aparn, expressed deep grief and anger, criticising the driver for fleeing the scene instead of stopping to provide assistance. "Even if it was an accident, he should have stopped. If he had a conscience, my grandfather might not have suffered so much. What if this happened to his own family? He should come to apologise for his actions," she said. Ms. Aparn also noted that the victim had already crossed the road's centre line when the truck, reportedly traveling at around 80 km/h, hit him. She described the crash as avoidable, given the narrow and winding nature of the road. Police are continuing their investigation, while the victim's body has been returned to his family. -- 2024-12-16
