Picture from responders. A large fire broke out at a recycling material warehouse in Soi Suntech, near Ban Bo Win School, in Bo Win Subdistrict, Sriracha District, Chonburi. The blaze involved a large pile of old rubber tyres, and explosions could be heard intermittently throughout the area. The fire occurred close to residential homes and prompting nearby Ban Bo Win School to announce the early dismissal of students, because of concerns about smoke effecting the school. Parents were called to pick up their children as a precaution. At 14:30 on December 18, the Bo Win Police Station received reports of the fire at a scrap metal factory in Moo 6, Bo Win Subdistrict. The information was quickly relayed to Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, the head of Bo Win Police Station, who immediately instructed Pol. Lt. Col. Ruangsit Nareeratwitya, the investigating officer, to coordinate with firefighting units from Chao Phraya Surasak Municipality, Bo Win Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Hemaraj Industrial Estate, and the Pure Yeang Tai rescue unit. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found large piles of old car and truck tyres engulfed in flames, though the cause of the fire remains unknown. Thick smoke filled the air, causing concern that the fire might spread to nearby homes. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading, managing to surround the fire within 45 minutes and limiting its damage. It was expected to take several hours to fully extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported, but the incident has raised concerns about the safety of such storage sites near populated areas. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and urging further safety measures for similar facilities in the future. -- 2024-12-19

Picture from responders. A TikTok content creator and cycling enthusiast lost his life on the morning of December 18, after being struck by a train while filming a video on the Chulalongkorn Railway Bridge in Ratchaburi. The incident occurred at approximately 07:30 near the Chulalongkorn Bridge crossing the Mae Klong River. The victim, identified as Mr. Wiroj 53, a bilingual teacher and well-known Tik Toker, was struck by train No. 252 on its route from Prachuap Khiri Khan to Thonburi. Police, rescue teams from the Prachanukul Foundation, and officials led by Pol. Lt. Col. Pusnisa Chantrach, Investigator at Muang Ratchaburi Police Station, responded to the scene. Authorities found Mr. Wiroj's body in a devastating condition, with severe injuries including some dismemberment. His body lay on the railway tracks about 200 metres from his damaged bicycle, which had been flung to the side of the tracks. Scattered around the area were pieces of a broken tripod, fragments of his helmet, and personal belongings. Footage retrieved from the victim's phone suggests he was filming a video for his Tik Tok channel on the tracks when the collision occurred. Authorities believe that while he was focused on setting up his equipment and editing the clip, he failed to notice the approaching train. Reports indicate he had his back turned to the train, likely unable to hear the warning signals before being struck. His body was dragged along the tracks for approximately 200-300 metres before the train came to a stop. The victim's wife, visibly distraught, confirmed his identity at the scene. She explained that the morning had started normally, with the couple dropping their daughter off at school before she went to work and he went to film at the bridge, as he often did for his TikTok channel, "Pai Nai Pai Gun Namman Mai Tong Sai" ("Wherever We Go, No Gas Needed"). "He was a kind and cheerful person who loved cycling and sharing his life on TikTok," his wife recounted. "He always took care of our family. I don't know how my daughter and I will continue without him." Mr. Wiroj was a beloved figure in the local cycling community and an active Tik Tok creator who also reviewed products and tourist attractions. Friends and followers of his channel were stunned by the news of his untimely death, describing him as warm-hearted and passionate about his hobbies. Police and rescue teams continue to investigate the incident, and no foul play is suspected. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution when filming or taking photos near railway tracks, emphasising the dangers of being distracted in such hazardous areas. -- 2024-12-19

Many thanks for that. I have produced that link into a video (below) for those who can’t access facebook. I would assume that the car company did not include this in their statement, as they were only looking into the technical aspect of the car. Arson would be part of the police investigation and would be part of any statement they issue or part of any arrest. Standard procedure in any investigation, where the lead authority, here the police, will limit what other agencies or partners in the investigation can release or say. Picture from responders. The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Radio Centre in Pattaya received a report at 06.15 on December 18, of a road crash involving a car and a motorcycle with a sidecar on Thetsaban Huai Yai Road in Huai Yai Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Rescue teams and Huai Yai Police Station officers promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police facilitated traffic control while rescue teams inspected the accident site. The driver of a white Honda Jazz, license plate from Chonburi, had lost control and crashed into a residential house, damaging the structure. The driver, Mr. Mintada Thammakiao, 23, was found at the scene and cooperated with police. Nearby, a severely damaged Honda Wave 100 motorcycle with a blue-black sidecar, license plate from Chonburi, was discovered. The vehicle had been split into pieces due to the impact, with debris scattered in different directions. On the road, rescuers found Ms. Tassanee Somsap, 54, critically injured and barely breathing. She was lying in a pool of blood. Rescue workers performed first aid and CPR in an attempt to save her life before urgently transporting her to Wat Yanasangwararam Hospital. Concerned locals gathered around, worried for her safety, as Ms. Tassanee was a well-known resident often seen riding her sidecar motorcycle to give alms to monks each morning. Mr. Mintada, the driver of the car, told police that he had dropped his girlfriend off at work and was driving home along Thetsaban Huai Yai Road. He stated that he was unaware of where Ms. Tassanee had come from and only realised the collision had occurred after hitting the rear of her sidecar motorcycle. The impact caused him to lose control and crash into a house. Shocked by the incident, he quickly contacted authorities for assistance. Meanwhile, Ms. Tassanee’s husband and relatives arrived at the scene after being informed of the crash. They explained that she routinely left home early to buy food and give alms. When she did not return home as usual, they became worried until a neighbour called to inform them of the collision. Police officers from Huai Yai Police Station documented the scene and took Mr. Mintada into custody for a breathalyzer test. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to ensure a fair investigation for all parties involved. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2024-12-18

Because if you heat up any aerosol can, the gas inside will expand and increase the pressure (gas and vapours do not absorb the heat). The aerosol can will explode when the pressure inside the can becomes too high, leading to a rupture of the canister. Remember Aerosol cans typically also contain a propellant, such as compressed gas along with the product itself.

Pictures from responders. A dramatic explosion occurred at an intersection in Ban Khai, Rayong Province, after a pickup truck loaded with paint cans caught fire. The blaze erupted when the driver inadvertently discarded a cigarette butt, which ignited the truck’s cargo, causing multiple paint cans to explode. At 17:30 on December 17, Pol. Lt. Chanatchai Wongsriwijit, an investigator from Ban Khai Police Station, received a report of a pickup truck explosion at the Ban Khai Intersection on Rayong-Ban Bueng Road. Firefighters from Ban Khai Municipality and rescue personnel from Sawang Phornkhet Rescue Unit were dispatched to the scene. When officials arrived, flames were engulfing the back of a Toyota pickup truck, loaded with hundreds of paint cans. The driver managed to escape safely, and no one was found trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters took approximately 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Upon inspection, the heat had caused most of the paint cans to explode, leaving extensive damage. The driver, Mr. Nopachad, 52, explained that he was transporting 240 spray paint cans and hardware supplies, all covered with a tarp. He admitted to smoking a cigarette while driving and carelessly discarding the cigarette butt out the window. Unbeknow to him, the butt was swept onto the truck bed, where it ignited the tarp and, subsequently, the highly flammable paint cans. As flames and smoke became visible through the side mirror, Mr. Nopachad immediately pulled over and attempted to extinguish the fire. However, the flames spread too quickly, triggering loud explosions from the paint cans. Fortunately, he escaped uninjured. The damage to the paint cans and hardware supplies is estimated to exceed 1 million baht. Mr. Nopachad acknowledged his negligence, stating, “This was entirely my fault.” Preliminary investigations by police confirm the fire likely started from the discarded cigarette butt, which ignited the tarp before spreading to the cargo. Authorities will conduct further forensic examinations. -- 2024-12-18

Picture of arrest. Authorities have apprehended a Taiwanese national who evaded capture for nearly five years by forging documents, changing his name, and re-entering Thailand under a false identity. At 10:00 on December 17, Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phuak-am, Commander of the Tourism Police Bureau, ordered a crackdown on crimes involving foreign nationals in Thailand. This led to the arrest of Mr. Chao Li Chan, 45, a Taiwanese citizen wanted under a Phra Khanong Criminal Court warrant No. 258/2567, issued on November 21, 2023. He faces charges of “forgery and use of forged documents” related to fraudulent visa and work permit applications. Authorities began their investigation after uncovering a syndicate of foreign nationals using forged documents to obtain visas and work permits. Mr. Chao Li Chan was identified as a key member of the operation. To evade arrest, he exploited legal loopholes by reporting his passport as lost to the Taiwanese Consulate in Thailand, enabling him to return to Taiwan. Once there, he changed his name to Mr. Chiao Zheng-En and obtained a new passport. Using this passport, he re-entered Thailand multiple times over the course of five years, successfully avoiding detection. The Tourism Police Unit 2, Division 1, under the Tourism Police Bureau, eventually located Mr. Chao hiding in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok. Investigations revealed he was living off funds earned from operating a tour company in Taiwan prior to his escape. The suspect was taken into custody and handed over to investigators for prosecution under Thai law. Authorities emphasised their commitment to tracking down foreign criminals attempting to evade justice in Thailand. -- 2024-12-18

Picture from responders. An incident occurred in Roi Et Province when a sudden change in wind direction caused a eucalyptus tree to fall on a worker, resulting in fatal head injuries. The incident was reported to Pol Sub-Lt Rattanon Ngachaiphum of Mueang Roi Et Police Station. Together with Dr. Badin Phadungsat, a forensic doctor from Roi Et Hospital, and Asok Rescue Unit, authorities inspected the scene in the middle of a rice field at Ban Non Sawan, Village 9, Non Rang Subdistrict, Mueang Roi Et District. The deceased was identified as Mr. Kosin 42, a resident of Non Rang Subdistrict. He had been hired as an assistant to cut eucalyptus trees in the area. Unfortunately, as one of the trees fell, it struck his head, causing a fatal skull fracture. Medical examiners confirmed that the death was not intentional and not caused by foul play. Mr. Praphat, 45, the employer and resident of the same village, recounted the incident. He stated that he had repeatedly warned the workers to be cautious when trees fell. The victim, who had experience working on similar jobs for several days, had been alert and cautious throughout. However, on this occasion, a sudden, strong gust of wind shifted direction unexpectedly, causing the partially cut tree to fall toward where the victim was retreating. Following the incident, Mr. Praphat attempted to resuscitate the victim while others called the police and rescue services, but the injuries proved too severe, and Mr. Kosin passed away at the scene. The family of the deceased did not suspect foul play and accepted the incident as a tragic event. Authorities have released the body to the family. -- 2024-12-18
