  2. A man from Nakhon Ratchasima narrowly escaped with his life after being struck by a car while stopping his motorcycle by the roadside in Pattaya. At 06:05 on November 23, the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Rescue Centre received a report of an accident on the railway parallel road in Nong Hin area, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District. A collision between a motorcycle and a car left one person injured. Rescue volunteers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a black Honda Scoopy-i motorcycle (license plate from Chonburi) lying damaged in the roadside bushes. Nearby was a black Mitsubishi Pajero SUV (license plate from Bangkok) driven by Mr. Naraset Plodprong, 41. The injured individual, identified as Mr. Charan Saisod, 40, from Nakhon Ratchasima, was found on the ground with a fractured right leg, a head wound, and multiple abrasions. Rescue teams provided first aid at the scene before transporting him to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for further treatment. Mr. Naraset, the driver of the Pajero, stated that he was driving along the railway parallel road in dim early morning light when the accident occurred. He explained that visibility was poor, and he did not see the parked motorcycle or man, until it was too late to avoid a collision. Mr. Charan, the injured motorcyclist, reportedly told rescuers that he had stopped his vehicle to relieve himself by the roadside when the accident occurred. 4. A bomb threat caused panic at Don Mueang Airport after a Singaporean man called to falsely claim there was a bomb aboard an AirAsia flight. Police acted swiftly, detaining the suspect and adding him to Thailand’s blacklist. On November 21, at 14:47, an individual speaking Thai with a Chinese accent called Don Mueang Airport’s information desk, stating, “Do you know there’s a bomb on the AirAsia flight to Hat Yai?” Authorities identified the flight as AirAsia FD 3114, carrying 162 passengers and six crew members. At the time, the plane was taxiing for takeoff. Security immediately halted the aircraft and brought it back for inspection. Passengers were evacuated along with their belongings, and a thorough search was conducted. After no suspicious items were found, the emergency plan was lifted at 19:30. However, the incident caused significant disruptions to flight schedules and passenger plans. Police Major General Choengron Rimpadee, spokesperson for the Immigration Bureau, reported that investigators traced the threatening call to Mr. Ho Wai Chong, a Singaporean national. Coordination between airport security, immigration, and Don Mueang Police revealed that the suspect had overstayed his visa by 28 days. Authorities discovered Mr. Ho was still inside the airport. On November 22, at approximately 19:00, officers located and arrested him in the terminal. Upon questioning, he confessed, citing stress over family problems as his motive for the hoax. Mr. Ho is now in custody at Don Mueang Police Station and faces multiple charges. Initial charges include overstaying his visa, with further charges under Thailand’s 2015 Aviation Offenses Act, which criminalises false threats that cause panic or jeopardises aviation safety. Convictions under this law carry penalties of 5–15 years in prison and fines ranging from 200,000 to 600,000 baht. Police revealed that Mr. Ho entered Thailand using an APEC Business Travel Card, allowing him frequent entry and exit. However, following his legal proceedings, he will be deported and permanently banned from re-entering Thailand. Additionally, Don Mueang Airport, the airline, and affected passengers may pursue civil lawsuits for damages caused by the disruption. Major General Choengron warned both Thais and foreigners against engaging in such reckless behaviour, emphasising the severe criminal and financial consequences. He stated, “This is not a joke. Such actions can lead to imprisonment, massive fines, and civil liabilities that outweigh any momentary thrill.” This incident serves as a stern reminder of the gravity of aviation-related threats and the consequences of such misconduct. 6. Thandol Suwannarit, head of the working committee tasked with investigating improper land acquisitions and ownership violations, led a team to inspect a well-known tourist farm in Pattaya. The farm, spanning 150 rai, is suspected of encroaching on land designated by the Land Reform for Agricultural Purposes, Sor Por Kor (S.P.K.) and using the land for purposes not aligned with its intended use. On November 22, Thandol, accompanied by the Department of Special Investigation, the Anti-Corruption Division, the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office, visited the farm in Huay Yai sub-district, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The inspection followed complaints that the farm may be violating regulations by utilising S.P.K. land for tourism activities. The farm, which operates as an agricultural and cultural tourism site, includes permanent structures, two large ponds, and activities such as elephant feeding for tourists. The property covers around 150 rai, with the majority of visitors coming from China and paying an entrance fee. The farm manager, a business partner of the landowner, welcomed the inspection team and provided details about the land’s acquisition and ownership. The 150-rai plot was originally granted as S.P.K. land, but 80 rai was surrendered for a different land use purpose related to the tourist facilities and elephant care. This change left the land area in question without the proper S.P.K. allocation, making the use of the land for tourism activities potentially unlawful. The landowner claimed to be exercising their rights under an S.K.1 land certificate, which serves as a proof of land possession. However, the inspection team has instructed the Chonburi Land Reform Office to issue a formal request for the landowner to explain the land’s use within 30 days. If violations are confirmed, legal action will follow. Pictures from the inspection. -- 2024-11-23

  9. Police in Nonthaburi province discovered the body of a 30-year- old man in the Chao Phraya River near Wat Tamnak Tai pier on November 22, following his disappearance two days earlier. The man, identified as Mr. Nopparat, reportedly suffered from depression and left a farewell note before taking his own life by jumping from the Phra Nang Klao Bridge. At approximately 17:00, officers from Rattanathibet Police Station responded to a report of a body floating in the river. Accompanied by forensic experts and rescue workers, they recovered the body, which was found in a decomposed state, face down in the water. The deceased was wearing a black shirt and jeans, with tattoos on his back. CCTV footage from November 20 captured the man walking beneath the Phra Nang Klao Bridge around 22:43 before vanishing from view. Earlier that day, at 15:00, police had intercepted Mr. Nopparat as he appeared to be preparing to jump from the bridge. They returned him to his condominium, but he later disappeared again. His family reported him missing to the Bang Sri Muang Police Station. A handwritten note found in his belongings revealed the man's deep emotional distress. In it, he detailed feelings of betrayal and despair, reflecting on a difficult life marked by abandonment, a history tied to human trafficking, and personal struggles with mental health. "I'm confused, hurt, and heartbroken," he wrote. Despite his gratitude toward those who raised him, he expressed a sense of hopelessness, ultimately leading to his tragic decision. Ms. Malinee, the victim's younger sister, recounted that her brother, who worked as an assistant in an accounting department and lived alone in a condominium, often shared his struggles with her. He had recently confided fears that someone intended to harm him. Despite her efforts to support him, she believes his severe depression and stress led to his suicide. "He always came to me for advice, but this time, he kept it all inside. I'm heartbroken," she said. Authorities' Actions The police and forensic team are conducting further investigations. Mr. Nopparat's tragic story underscores the profound impact of mental health issues and the need for greater awareness and support for those battling depression. If you or anyone you know is in emotional distress, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand 24-hour hotline: 02 713 6791 (English), 02 713 6793 (Thai) or the Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai). 11. An incident claimed the life of a 58-year-old market vendor in the early hours of the morning of November 22, when her motorcycle collided with a fallen tree blocking the road. The incident occurred around 03:30 on the Wat Kad Road in Moo 1, Na San Subdistrict, Mueang District. Police from Phra Phrom Station, along with paramedics from Phra Phrom Hospital and Tai Tek Tung Foundation rescue teams, responded to the scene. They found a large tree lying across the road. A black-and-red Honda Wave motorcycle was crushed against the tree, its front section severely damaged. Near the wreckage was the lifeless body of Ms. Supanee, 58, from Moo 3, Chai Montri Subdistrict, Mueang District. She was found face-down, with significant bruising to her head and body. A helmet and fragments of the motorcycle were scattered across the road. Initial investigations revealed that Ms. Supanee, a vendor selling fresh corn at the Bua Tong Market in the city, was on her way to the market when the accident occurred. She had left her home early, wearing a raincoat as heavy rain had persisted throughout the night. The continuous downpour caused flooding in several areas and weakened the soil, resulting in the large tree falling and obstructing the road. With no streetlights due to a power outage, Ms. Supanee was unable to see the fallen tree in the dark and collided with it at high speed. The impact threw her body into the tree, killing her instantly. After completing the on-site investigation and medical examination, authorities handed over Ms. Supanee’s body to her family. 13. A 25-year-old Lao national, Mr. Paiwan, was arrested early morning of November 22, for allegedly selling flavoured kratom juice and renting mats to tourists along Pattaya Beach. The arrest was made at 00:35 by Pol. Lt. Ittiporn Tangchuthaweesap of the Pattaya City Police Station, following complaints from concerned tourists. Authorities seized 48 bottles of pre-prepared, fruit-flavored kratom juice from Mr. Paiwan’s possession. The operation was initiated after tourists reported seeing a foreign man renting mats and selling kratom juice to young people. Police organised a sting operation, during which an undercover agent successfully purchased kratom juice from Mr. Paiwan. Following the transaction, officers apprehended the suspect and searched his Honda Jazz car, registered in Chonburi. Inside the vehicle, they discovered the 48 bottles of flavoured kratom juice, which were confiscated as evidence. During questioning, Mr. Paiwan claimed he was not the owner of the kratom juice or the mats. He stated that he was merely helping the actual owner sell the items and insisted he received no payment for his efforts. Police, however, were skeptical of his statement and detained him for further investigation. The confiscated kratom juice and the suspect were handed over to investigators at Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings. Picture courtesy of SiamChon -- 2024-11-23

  15. An incident of road rage unfolded on a Bangkok street when a six-wheel truck driver chased and attacked a songthaew driver, resulting in a heated altercation and injuries. The violent confrontation, partially captured on video and posted online by the page "อยากดังเดี๋ยวจัดให้ ริเทริน์ part 7" (translated as "Want to Be Famous, We'll Make It Happen, Part 7"), has sparked widespread public concern. The video shows the aftermath of the quarrel, with the post urging drivers to remain calm and considerate on the road. The caption read, "Stay cool on the road and show some courtesy. Let the law decide who's at fault." According to Ms. Benjawan, 36, the daughter of Mr. Add, the songthaew driver involved, her father was driving in the right lane when the six-wheel truck attempted to overtake him but failed. Frustrated, the truck driver tailgated aggressively, reportedly colliding with the back of the songthaew. Mr. Add stopped to confront the truck driver, warning him about the dangers of tailgating. This initial argument set the stage for the escalating violence. Later, while Mr. Add was picking up passengers, the truck returned, sideswiped the songthaew, and deliberately rammed it again before speeding off. Both vehicles eventually stopped at a red light, where the confrontation took a dangerous turn. Armed with knives, both drivers faced off. The truck driver retreated to his vehicle when confronted with Mr. Add's larger blade, but not before damaging the songthaew's windshield. The violence didn't end there. When the vehicles stopped again, the truck driver approached Mr. Add, who was sitting inside the songthaew, and slashed him with a knife, causing a wound near his eve. Mr. Add defended himself from within the vehicle and later retaliated by punching one of the truck's tyre. Mr. Add reported the incident to Lak Song Police Station. However, his family claims that investigators attempted to downplay the severity of the attack. They were reportedly encouraged to agree that Mr. Add's injury was caused by the truck tyre bursting, not a knife wound. Furthermore, police suggested treating the case as a mutual altercation rather than pursuing serious charges. Ms. Benjawan expressed frustration over the handling of the case, emphasising her father's role as the victim. She called for justice and urged authorities to investigate thoroughly. The family plans to file additional charges of attempted murder, pending medical reports, and is determined to ensure the assailant faces legal consequences. The incident has sparked outrage online, with netizens calling for stricter enforcement of road safety laws and harsher penalties for aggressive drivers. Many have expressed sympathy for Mr. Add and criticised the police for allegedly mishandling the case. As investigations continue, the family hopes their pursuit of justice will set a precedent, ensuring such violent road rage incidents are addressed with the seriousness they deserve. 19. A fire broke out at an auto parts warehouse in Dan Chang District, Suphan Buri, on the morning of November 22, causing chaos as workers scrambled to escape. The blaze, which began at approximately 10:30, prompted the deployment of multiple fire trucks to contain the flames. Pol. Col. Thatthep Lertlakmeepan, Superintendent of Dan Chang Police Station, and Pol. Capt. Rangsarn Lomtaisong, an investigator, confirmed receiving reports of the fire at a warehouse located on Soi 6, Dan Chang Market. Thick black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky, drawing the attention of local authorities and fire response teams, including personnel from Dan Chang Subdistrict Municipality and the Samo-Kan Rescue Foundation. Firefighters reported that one male worker suffered minor burns during the incident and was promptly transported to Dan Chang Hospital for medical treatment. Witnesses stated that approximately 10 workers were inside the warehouse when the fire erupted. Despite their efforts to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers, the blaze spread rapidly, forcing them to flee for their lives. Firefighters battled the inferno for over two hour before managing to bring it under partial control. However, flare-ups continued due to the structural collapse of the warehouse roof, which hindered efforts to access and extinguish the fire inside. Crews remained on-site, using water hose-lines to prevent the flames from reigniting. A significant portion of the warehouse’s inventory, including auto and motorcycle parts, was destroyed in the fire. The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation, with authorities questioning witnesses and awaiting forensic evidence. Officials will assess the total damages once the fire is completely extinguished and full access can be gained to all areas. Picture and video from responders. -- 2024-11-23 My Movie.mp4

  23. Police in Ubon Ratchathani were called to a local resort in the Jaramae sub-district after receiving reports of a man, suspected to be under the influence of drugs, scaling the resort’s walls and causing chaos. The incident began when the unidentified man, described as being between 30 and 35 years old, entered the premises, disrupted guests, and locked himself in one of the rooms. The situation was reported by a 30-year-old resort employee. She stated that she first heard cries for help coming from the rear of the property. Upon investigation, she found the man, shirtless, wearing wet black trousers, and speaking incoherently. Suspecting he was intoxicated, she sought assistance from nearby guests, who helped pull him over the wall. The man then ran into a guest’s room and proceeded to take a shower. This startled the room’s occupant, who opted to vacate and move to another accommodation. After his shower, the man entered another adjacent room, locking himself inside. Fearing further disruption, the employee contacted the police for assistance. Responding officers from the 191 Emergency Unit, led by Sub-Lieutenant Ruangsak Rungrueng, attempted to coax the man out by knocking on the door, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Reinforcements were called, and the team used a spare key to enter the room. The suspect was found wearing only a towel, wrapped in a blanket, with scratches on his body, likely from thorns in the forest behind the resort. The man refused to cooperate, declining to answer questions, undergo a drug test, or reveal the location of the keys to a white Honda car with Yasothon plates found nearby. Police had the car towed to the Muang Ubon Ratchathani Police Station for further investigation. Inside the room, officers discovered a pair of wet black trousers and black thong-style underwear. No personal documents, luggage, or other belongings were found. The man was arrested on charges of public disturbance and taken into custody to calm down.
