The 77-year-old passenger in the rear of the pickup, Mr. Anan, lost his life at the scene, while a mysterious bystander complicated the situation by rummaging through the wreckage, looking to steal items. Police Lieutenant Colonel Chatchai Chaiphet, an investigator from Thung Bencha Police Station, received a report of a fatal accident involving a collision between a car and a pickup on Sukhumvit Road near Ban Nong Talin, in Song Phi Nong sub-district, Tha Mai district, Chanthaburi province. CCTV footage from a nearby agricultural store captured the incident.(see below). Upon arriving at the scene, rescue workers found the red Toyota pickup truck with registration number Chanthaburi, lodged in a drainage ditch with the rear section of the vehicle completely detached. Inside the wreckage was the driver, still seated in his vehicle, who was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. The white Honda City, registration number Chanthaburi, driven by 41-year-old Mr. Ekachai, was found crashed into the chassis of the dismembered pickup. The front of the car was severely damaged, and Mr. Ekachai, a resident of Thung Bencha and an employee at a local car dealership, sustained minor injuries. In a state of shock, he was unable to provide a clear account of the events and awaited further questioning by the police. Eyewitnesses Mr. Chanchai, 20, and Mr. Chonlawit, 23, who work at the nearby fertiliser shop, reported hearing a loud crash before seeing the Honda push the pickup for some distance, eventually veering off the road into the ditch. The impact had thrown Mr. Anan's body from the rear of the pickup. His wife, Mrs. Phakamart, 67, later confirmed his identity and reported that he had been on his way to repair a grass cutter with a worker when the fatal accident occurred. As police and rescue teams worked to clear the wreckage, the situation took a bizarre turn when an unidentified man on a motorcycle arrived at the scene, claiming to be the son of the deceased and attempting to search the pickup for valuables. However, the real son and the widow were already present, providing information to the authorities. When questioned, the man, believed to suffer from a mental illness, denied knowing the victim and was released after police found no illegal items in his possession. Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon Rescue Radio Centre received a report at approximately 04.30 on September 27, of a physical altercation between two foreign nationals in Soi Buakhao, outside an apartment complex located at 348/48, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. At the location, they found Mr. John Max Neale, a 57-year-old Australian national, unconscious. Rescuers immediately administered first and contacted advanced medical support from a nearby hospital. Mr. Neale was swiftly transferred to Memorial Hospital for further treatment. Ms. Kamonchanok Kanawapee, 22, an eyewitness, recounted that she had been sitting outside the apartment complex when she noticed the injured foreigner drinking with another foreign friend. After some time, the two began arguing. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which Mr. Neale was struck, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. The exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, as Ms. Kamonchanok only witnessed the altercation after the two had already started quarrelling . At around 03:15 on September 27, Police Lieutenant Kriangchai Chumkaew of the Sawi Police Station received a report of the violent attack. He arrived at the scene alongside Police Colonel Wisanu Surawadee and an investigative team. The victim, identified as Mr. Wanchai (surname withheld), 30, was found critically injured with multiple stab wounds to his chest and underarm. He was rushed to Sawi Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. According to the police investigation, the motive appears to be rooted in a love triangle. Mr. Wanchai had been living with Ms. Waraporn (surname withheld), his wife and the mother of their child. After separating, Ms. Waraporn entered into a relationship with Mr. Noppadon (surname withheld), 30, the suspect. However, a week before the attack, Ms. Waraporn reconciled with Mr. Wanchai, and the couple had resumed living together. On the night of the attack, Mr. Wanchai was asleep with Ms. Waraporn and their child when Mr. Noppadon arrived at the house on a black and purple Yamaha motorcycle. Using a knife, the suspect cut the string securing the front door, which had no lock, and entered the bedroom. He then stabbed Mr. Wanchai multiple times, forcing the victim to flee the house, but his injuries proved fatal. Witnesses, including Ms. Waraporn and her brother Mr. Jirasak (surname withheld), who was staying in the house, confirmed the identity of the attacker. An autopsy revealed four stab wounds to Mr. Wanchai’s chest and underarm area. Mr. Wanchai was a well-known drummer for a popular local band, performing at various events in Chumphon and surrounding provinces. His death has left his friends and family devastated, with many describing him as a kind and well-loved individual. Upon arrival, police, medical staff from Lampang Hospital, and emergency rescue teams discovered that the elderly man, approximately 70 years old, had died instantly at the scene. The victim, identified as a resident of Dong Chai village, had been out selling ice cream from his motorcycle sidecar before the accident. His body was found lying face down in a pool of blood, suffering from multiple fractures. His ice cream sidecar was heavily damaged, with parts scattered about 10 metres from where his body was discovered. Items such as shoes, a hat, and ice cream products were strewn across the road. The other vehicle involved, a white Toyota Revo pick-up truck registered in Bangkok, was found approximately 20 metres away with significant damage to its front end. The truck bore red marks from the ice cream sidecar it collided with. The driver, a man between 20 and 30 years old, was disoriented and sustained minor injuries to his arm. Initial reports indicate that the pick-up truck was traveling from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. At the time of the accident, the ice cream vendor had been driving on the left side of the road as usual. On September 26 at 17:30, officers from Region 2 Investigation Unit, along with Chonburi provincial health officials, carried out a search and arrest at a medical clinic located in Moo 2, Bang Saray Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The raid followed reports that the clinic had been providing medical services to patients without the proper legal authorisation. Three suspects were apprehended during the operation: Ms. Patinya (last name withheld), aged 53, the clinic owner responsible for dispensing medicine and collecting treatment fees; Ms. Chayaporn (last name withheld), aged 60, the clinic’s doctor, who was found to be using a forged medical license and was not legally authorised to practice medicine; and Ms. Methinee (last name withheld), aged 30, who was responsible for patient recordkeeping and taking blood pressure measurements. In the investigation, Ms. Chayaporn confessed to diagnosing and treating patients without a valid medical license, using fake documents to impersonate a doctor, and issuing medical certificates to patients. Ms. Patinya, the clinic owner, also admitted to running the business and dispensing medications to patients. Health officials seized 16 items, including various medications and medical equipment found at the clinic, which will be used as evidence in the ongoing legal case. The suspects have been charged with “operating a medical establishment without a license,” as outlined in Sections 16 and 24 of the Medical Establishment Act B.E. 2541 (1998), and “selling modern medicine without a license” under Section 12 of the Medicine Act B.E. 2510 (1967). Additionally, the second suspect faces charges of “forgery and use of forged documents (medical certificates)” under Section 264 of the Criminal Code. At 09:35, Udon Thani City Police and rescue teams were alerted to a powerful blast at an oxygen filling plant located at 123 Moo 8, Ban Nong Mun Thao, Phon Sung Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani. The plant, situated along Mittraphap Road (Highway 2) heading into Udon Thani, was severely damaged by the blast, which sent debris flying and caused panic among the workers. Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and found three injured individuals. The most seriously injured was identified as 39-year-old Wasin Matphonthong, an oxygen filler, who was found unconscious with his right arm severed. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Another worker, Somjit Jaiyen, 50, suffered injuries from metal debris that struck his left hand and shoulder. The third injured worker has not yet been identified. The blast caused significant damage to the plant’s structure, with the roof punctured and windows and doors shattered. Several oxygen cylinders were also found toppled and scattered inside the plant. It was found that one of the cylinders had exploded, leading authorities to evacuate the area to prevent further danger. Atthiwat Woraphan, a highway rescue volunteer, reported that the team responded immediately upon receiving the alert. He confirmed that Wasin’s condition was critical and that he had been rushed to the hospital as quickly as possible. The other two workers sustained minor injuries. Krissada Sophakul, 31, an oxygen filler at the plant, recounted the terrifying moment of the explosion. “We were all working when we suddenly heard the blast. Wasin was working alone on the upper floor. Everyone fled immediately. Since the plant opened, we’ve never experienced anything like this, it was truly shocking,” he said. The victim, a 43-year-old woman identified as Ms. X (alias), was found distressed and seeking help from nearby residents. She recounted that she had been riding her motorcycle with a man, approximately 35 to 40 years old, tall and heavyset. According to her, the man had lured her with a promise of a trip, and they were riding together on her Honda Wave motorcycle, license plate from Nakhon Ratchasima, after departing from Pattaya Beach. As they reached a desolate stretch of road, Ms. X became suspicious. When the motorcycle slowed down, she leaped off, only for the man to threaten her with a knife and snatch her bag. The bag contained approximately 1,000 baht in cash, a Redmi smartphone, her ID card, and an ATM card. The suspect then fled on her motorcycle down the deserted road. Ms. X waved down a local resident for help, who called the police. Despite the detailed account, authorities became skeptical when Ms. X hesitated to come to the station for further questioning. Officers noted that the victim had a photo of the suspect, raising the possibility that they might have known each other. Police are now awaiting further information from Ms. X. The body of Mr. Pratuang, 57, was discovered at a water development project site in Ban Kok Kaew, Lopburi. Authorities were alerted to the incident after family members who were worried that he was not home on the morning of September 26, had gone searching for him. Police and medical personnel from Koke Samrong Hospital, along with local rescue volunteers, arrived at the scene. They found Mr. Pratuang lying face-up in a water pit near a water tank, still clutching wire cutters in his left hand. Nearby, several sections of cut electrical wire were found, and the surrounding area showed clear signs of him tampering with power cables. Officials promptly had the electricity cut off for safety before they began gathering evidence. Initial investigations revealed no signs of foul play, and it was determined that Mr. Pratuang likely died from electrocution approximately 7 to 8 hours prior to his discovery. Relatives of the deceased told investigators that Mr. Pratuang, a school bus driver, was last seen awake around midnight. They assumed he had gone out to catch fish or crabs for food, as he often did. When he did not return home by morning, they set out to search for him, only to find his lifeless body. Shocked by the circumstances, the family expressed disbelief that he would resort to stealing electrical wires. Picture courtesy of Thai PBS While several provinces in the north are suffering serious flooding, especially Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, in the north-east, is facing a water shortage with all of its 27 reservoirs now less than half full. For an example, Lamtakong reservoir, which is the main source of water for Mueang, Sung Noen, Si Khio, Kham Thalae So and Chalerm Phra Kiat, now contains 92.26 million cubic metres of water, 30.6% of its capacity. Of that, only 25.2% of the water is usable. The water level in the reservoir keeps falling, with a sandbanks being exposed and extending for several kilometres. At weekends, many people visit the reservoir and drive their cars onto the sandbanks to enjoy a dip in the water. Elsewhere, water levels in the Lam Phra Phloeng, Nam Mun Bon and Nam Bon Lang reservoirs are described as “moderate”. 23 other reservoirs contain a total of 157.30 million cubic metres of water, which is described as “low”. The Lower North-eastern Meteorological Centre forecasts that there is currently a possibility of moderate rainfall in Pak Chong, Wang Nam Khiao, Khon Bujri, Soeng Sang, Dan Khun Thot and Si Khio, while the 26 other districts will see less rainfall. The Royal Irrigation Department’s office in the province has suspended supply of water from all the reservoirs for agricultural purposes, to conserve the water for consumption. Statement by Suvarnabhumi Airport Picture courtesy of AOT Mr. Kittiphong Kittikhachorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), stated that on September 26, at 14:18, the Suvarnabhumi Airport Security Centre received a notification from Air Traffic Control that there was a bomb threat on Thai VietJet Air flight VZ961 from Da Nang, Vietnam. The flight had 121 passengers, including one infant, along with six pilots and crew members. Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) assessed the situation with the airline and activated the airport’s emergency response plan, Chapter 3, regarding bomb threats. They coordinated with relevant public and private sectors, security personnel, firefighting and rescue teams, as well as the airport’s medical team to immediately handle the situation. Initially, the aircraft was moved to the Isolated Aircraft Parking Position on the east side of the airport. Passengers and crew were immediately evacuated from the aircraft. The passengers were taken to the airport’s eastern firefighting and rescue station. Security officers then conducted body and baggage searches, while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team inspected all luggage and thoroughly checked the aircraft. No suspicious explosive items were found. Therefore, the emergency response plan was canceled at 16:31.
