He was rescued after a search, with relatives, who had prepared for the worst left stunned by his survival. At around 20:30 on September 26, Udon Thani city police and rescue teams received a report of a man falling into an irrigation canal in the Suntorn Satchabun area in Ban Thon, Ban Lueam Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. The man had not been found when the authorities arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, officials discovered a white-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle, license plate from Nong Bua Lamphu, parked by the canal. They also found the missing man’s shirt, a water bottle, and half a bottle of liquor near the canal bank. Soon after, Mr. Wittawat, 45, a municipal garbage collector from Udon Thani, approached the officers and identified the missing man as his 49-year-old brother, Mr. Thongrit, also known as "Pee Kiew," from Kud Din Ji village in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. Mr. Wittawat explained that his brother had called earlier, saying he was coming to Udon Thani to look for work. After withdrawing 5,000 baht of the 10,000 baht he had, Mr. Thongrit set off on his motorcycle. CCTV footage from the area showed Mr. Thongrit sitting beside the canal next to his motorcycle before stumbling and falling into the water, apparently while drunk and trying to relieve himself. He then disappeared into the canal, which led officials to believe he had been swept away by the current. Divers began searching the canal, but Mr. Thongrit's body was not found, leading to fears that he had drowned. For over an hour, villagers, divers, and officials searched the canal, but their efforts seemed in vain. Then, miraculously, a local resident reported seeing Mr. Thongrit walking out of the canal about 2 kilometres from the accident site, wearing only his underwear. The searchers rushed to help him and found that Mr. Thongrit appeared confused by the crowd of villagers and rescuers, exclaiming, “What’s everyone doing here? I’m not dead. I’m just embarrassed and cold.” The rescuers quickly covered him with a towel. Mr. Thongrit explained that after withdrawing his money, he had bought a bottle of liquor to celebrate with the locals. After drinking, he tried to relieve himself near the canal but accidentally fell in, his intoxication causing him to be swept away by the current. Eventually regaining full consciousness, he managed to climb out of the canal on his own. When asked how he managed to survive, Mr. Thongrit replied that he had held tightly to 300 baht in cash while thinking of his late father. He expressed joy at his survival, smiling as his younger brother embraced him. Relatives, His brother jokingly suggested that Mr. Thongrit should quit drinking to avoid future disasters. -- 2024-09-27

Chattharapit Jan-urai, Deputy Inspector of Prachachuen Police Station, received a report of a fatal collision involving a bus and a motorcycle at Prachanukul Intersection on Ratchadaphisek Road, Wong Sawang Subdistrict, Bang Sue District. He immediately proceeded to the scene with a medical examiner from Police General Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. Upon arrival, authorities found a Honda Click motorcycle, orange in color, with Bangkok license plates, lying in the middle of the right-most lane of Ratchadaphisek Road. Tragically, the two victims were discovered lifeless at the scene. The victims were identified as Ms. Pimnipa (last name withheld), 34, who was found lying on top of Ms. Manatsanan (last name withheld), 31, the motorcycle's driver. A short distance from the motorcycle, about 5 metres away, an orange air-conditioned bus was parked in the right-most lane. The bus, registered in Bangkok, had visible damage on its right bumper. The bus driver, Mr. Jamnong (last name withheld), 55, remained at the scene and was cooperating with police investigators. According to preliminary investigations, Ms. Manatsanan had been driving the motorcycle with Ms. Pimnipa as her passenger. They were en route to work at a bank branch in Wong Sawang. While making a U-turn under the Prachanukul overpass, the motorcycle was struck from behind by Bus No. 49, which was in the right lane. The impact caused the motorcycle to fall, and both women were tragically run over by the bus. Pol. Lt. Col. Chattharapit reported that Mr. Jamnong stated during questioning that as he was driving in the right lane of Ratchadaphisek Road, heading towards Prachanukul Intersection and preparing to turn right onto Prachachuen Road, he suddenly heard a loud noise near the front right wheel. Upon stopping the bus to investigate, he discovered that the bus had collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the fatalities. Authorities are continuing to interview the driver and review footage from the bus’s front-facing camera and surrounding CCTV to determine the exact cause of the accident. The bodies of the victims have been sent to the Police General Hospital’s forensic unit. Statement from Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, expressing their condolences and apologies to the families of the deceased is below. -- 2024-09-27

  8. UPDATE Lightning Strike: 1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured as Six Cambodian Workers Struck in Cassava Field Picture courtesy of Daily News. Six Cambodian workers who were hired to cut cassava in a plantation in Chonburi province were struck by lightning during a sudden storm. One worker was killed instantly, another was left severely injured, while four others miraculously escaped unscathed. Police Lieutenant Ruangsak Siribut, Deputy Inspector of the Huay Yai Police Station, received a report of a lightning strike that had resulted in injuries and a fatality in a cassava field near Huay Yai Fire Station in Bang Lamung District. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, rescuers found the area lashed by heavy rainfall and continuous lightning. The field, over 20 rai in size, was the site of the fatal accident. Under a nearby tree, 16-year-old Cambodian worker Sorn was found severely injured, his clothes torn and burn marks covering his body. He was quickly transported to Wat Yanasangwararam Hospital for emergency treatment. Nearby, a white Toyota pickup truck with Rayong license was parked under the same tree. Tragically, the body of an unidentified Cambodian man, estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, was found lying on the ground. His clothes were similarly torn, with burn marks across his body, indicating he had been killed instantly by the lightning strike. According to 30-year-old Cambodian worker Phong, one of the survivors, the group had been cutting cassava when a storm began to brew. The sky darkened and thunder rumbled constantly. In a bid to avoid the downpour, they sought shelter under a tree. Sorn took refuge inside the truck, while the deceased man sat in the back of the vehicle’s open bed. The other four workers, including Phong, were running towards the tree when two powerful lightning strikes hit. The force of the strikes injured Sorn and killed the man instantly, while the others, still at a distance from the tree, were spared. Authorities have advised the public to avoid taking shelter under trees or in open fields during thunderstorms, as such locations can attract lightning strikes. -- 2024-09-26 My Movie.mp4

  11. Funny, as previously with the fire you questioned me on in Sattahip, you clearly have very limited knowledge of the subject. I simply explained why there was no fire, and not just for your benefit. Can you please tell me where any of my information was wrong?
  12. I explained to you why there was no fire, or do you not like having things explained to you? LPG cylinder explosions are not a common occurrence, and if there was BLEVE the damage would have been far greater and a lot more extensive.
  13. There was clearly no fire, as can be seen from the damage is not showing any signs of anything being burnt. The unignited leaking gas in this incident, had built up to be within its explosive range, between LEL (lower explosive limit) 2.1% (Propane) 1.9% (Butane) and UEL (upper explosive limit) 9.5% (Propane) 8.5% (Butane). The mixture found an ignition source, which could have been a flame (candle, cigarette, etc) or spark (electrical switch) and ignited the leak. The ignition of the leaking gas caused the explosion in the room creating a high pressure wave that did the structural damage, thus venting the area. The high pressure wave would suppress and extinguish the now burning leak and hence no fire developed as the leaking gas was no longer contained, so could not form an explosive mixture. A gas explosion like this is not going to cause an LPG cylinder to exploded, as LPG is not susceptible to thermal shock, like some gases, (such as acetylene) but requires direct heating of the cylinder before a BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion) can occur. The possibly of a BLEVE of a cylinder, will be dependent on the temperature it is exposed to, the quality, age and condition of the cylinder and how full the cylinder is.
  14. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. An unidentified woman’s decomposed body was discovered washed ashore along the Mekong River in Bueng Kan province, Thailand, showing signs of head trauma. Authorities estimate she has been deceased for approximately 14 days. No missing person reports have been filed in the area, and police are appealing to the public for information that might help identify the victim. On September 25, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasong Wongsin, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Bung Khla Police Station in Bueng Kan, received a report from Boon-um Sunikun. While gathering driftwood from the Mekong River near Ban Huai Leb Mue in Bung Khla district, Boon-um noticed a body tangled in some small bushes along the riverbank. Police, local authorities, forensic teams from Bueng Kan, medical personnel from Bung Khla Hospital, and rescue workers from Sawang Si Wilai Rescue Unit arrived at the scene. They found the badly decomposed body covered in mud, with parts of the legs already missing due to animal activity. The skull, also soiled with mud, was retrieved and cleaned along with the blue elastic-waist pants the deceased was wearing. Preliminary medical examination identified the remains as a woman, approximately 150 cm tall, likely aged between 50 and 60 years old, with graying black hair. A notable feature was a depression on the right side of her skull, possibly caused by a blow from a blunt object, though investigators believe it might also have resulted from the body being repeatedly struck by rocks as it floated down the river. Lieutenant Colonel Prasong confirmed that the body has been transferred to the Sawang Si Wilai Rescue Unit, awaiting further investigation and potential identification. No identification documents were found on the body, and no missing persons have been reported in the vicinity. -- 2024-09-26
