The man, who had been stranded since the yesterday afternoon, remained trapped as water levels surged around him. Onlookers, including local residents, watched anxiously from a distance, flashing lights to signal his location to potential rescuers. However, the strong currents prevented initial rescue attempts by emergency teams. The turning point came when the world champion jet ski team arrived at the scene. Tawee Kudtalaeng, Superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, and his team, police arrested a member of a motorcycle theft ring and recovered a number stolen motorcycles. The operation took place in a cassava field just a few kilometres from the location of the thefts, bringing relief to the victims who had their motorcycles stolen the previous night. The police had been alerted by several victims reporting the theft of multiple motorcycles. Following these reports, the investigation team quickly gathered clues from surveillance footage and tips from local residents, leading them to a spot where the stolen motorcycles had been hidden. The thieves were using a pickup truck, license plate number from Phitsanulok, to transport the stolen motorcycles to sell on the black market. As the police moved in for the arrest, two of the suspects managed to flee, but one was apprehended. The arrested suspect claimed to be merely hired to transport the stolen motorcycles, denying any involvement in the thefts themselves. When the victims were informed that their motorcycles had been recovered, they rushed to the Nong Prue Police Station. One of the victims was so overjoyed upon seeing their motorcycle that they burst into tears, thanking the police for their swift action in recovering the vehicle. Pol. Col. Panya Songnuan, an officer at Sri Banphot Police Station, along with forensic officers and rescue teams, responded to a shooting at the cremation hall of Taphaen Temple in Sri Banphot District, Phatthalung Province. The incident occurred during the second night of the funeral for 98-year-old Klin Chuaykaew, who had just been moved from her home to the temple. At the scene, police found the body of Nittaya “Naep” Yokphairot, 63, the daughter of the deceased, lying next to a wooden chair. She had been shot in the head and behind the ear with a .38 caliber revolver. A bullet of the same caliber was recovered at the scene. The shooter, Thaveesak “Wee” Chuaykaew, 60, Nittaya’s younger brother, surrendered to police shortly after the incident, bringing with him the firearm used in the attack. Witnesses reported that the shooting occurred shortly after monks had completed the chanting ceremony for their mother. During the initial police interrogation, Thaveesak confessed that his actions stemmed from frustration over his sister’s decision to handle their mother’s funeral arrangements alone, excluding him and their three other siblings. Nittaya had argued that she was the sole caretaker of their elderly mother and therefore had the right to make all the decisions. Police noted that the siblings had a long-standing feud over inherited family land, which had contributed to tensions between them. This ongoing conflict, combined with the stress of the funeral arrangements, led Thaveesak to commit the tragic act. The incident occurred when Palawat Chanaboon, known as "Sak," head of Forest Protection Unit 4 under the Nakhon Phanom branch of the Forest Resources Management Office, died in a car accident on September 9. The crash took place in Bo Kaeo Subdistrict, Nakhu District, Kalasin Province, while officials were pursuing a timber trafficking operation originating from Phu Phan District, Sakon Nakhon Province. On September 10, Provincial Police Chief Pol. Maj. Gen. Triwit Sriprapha revealed details of the case, explaining that Forest Protection Unit 4 officers had been following a pickup truck involved in illegal logging. The pursuit began in Lub Lao Subdistrict, Phu Phan District, and continued into Bo Kaeo Subdistrict, Nakhu District. As the chase neared a downhill road in Bo Kaeo, the bumper of the officials’ vehicle struck the rear of the suspects' pickup. Despite attempts by the forest officers to force the suspects to stop, the driver refused to pull over. This resulted in the officials’ losing control of the vehicle and overturning, causing the death of Mr. Palawat and injuring two other officers, who are now in stable condition after receiving treatment at Nakhu Hospital. Following the crash, Police Colonel Chaiphon Phonlayiem, the local police chief, was ordered to expedite the arrest of the suspects. Police managed to apprehend 55-year-old Sombat while he was hiding in a field near Bo Kaeo. Authorities seized the pickup truck used in the escape and the illegally harvested timber, bringing Sombat in for questioning. Sombat now faces charges of unauthorized possession of timber and reckless driving resulting in injury and death. Further legal action regarding the illegal logging activities will be handled by the Phu Phan Police. Efforts are still underway to track down the second suspect involved in the case. The death of Mr. Palawat has been met with grief by colleagues in the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, as well as other officials in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Kalasin Provincial Environment Chief, Wittaya Panjamart, has reported the incident to senior authorities, including Kalasin Governor Sannan Phongaksorn. Upon arrival, authorities met with Mr. Ta Maleewuan, a 50-year-old local resident and the grandfather of the deceased, who was waiting anxiously by the riverbank after the loss of his 15-year-old grandson, Sek. Mr. Ta recounted the event, explaining that he had taken his grandson Sek to cast a fishing net in the river using a small boat they had borrowed from a nearby villager. Both Mr. Ta and Sek were unable to swim. As they were casting their fishing net, water began to seep into the boat rapidly. Despite their best efforts, the boat quickly sank. Mr.Ta tried to grab his grandson but was unable to reach him in time. In desperation, he struggled towards a wooden post in the middle of the river and clung to it, searching for his grandson but to no avail. He then shouted for help from nearby villagers, who immediately called the authorities. Rescue teams conducted the search for approximately two hours before locating Sek's body. Following a medical examination, the cause of death was confirmed as drowning. The truck involved in the incident was parked by the side of the road with its engine still running. Initial investigations suggest that the truck, which was parked on a sloped section of the road, began rolling backward down the hill, likely because the driver had forgotten to engage the parking/handbrake. As the truck gained momentum, it collided with the motorcycle carrying the three victims, causing the fatal accident. Workers nearby managed to stop the truck from continuing to roll further. Eyewitnesses reported that Ms. Chabaporn was riding her motorcycle from Ao Nang, heading toward Krabi town, with her daughter seated with her and Ms. Manee. They were on their way to take a relative to a medical appointment when the tragic collision occurred. Police have taken the truck driver in for questioning and will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. The gruesome discovery was made by a highway maintenance worker cutting grass along Sukhumvit Road near a curve leading to Prachsamata School, in Rayong. At approximately 09:30, Pol. Lt. Kittichai Wongbia, an investigator from Rayong’s Mae Phim Police Station, received a call from a team of highway department workers, reporting the discovery. The body was found inside a 15-kilogram rice sack, itself placed within another bag, and discarded by the roadside. Wrapped in a blood-stain maternity dress, the newborn is believed to have died less than 12 hours prior to being discovered. Mrs. Samniang (surname withheld), a worker with the Rayong Highway Department, recounted the moment of the heartbreaking find. "I was cutting grass when I saw the suspicious bag. At first, I thought someone had accidentally dropped a rice sack. I prodded it with a stick and noticed something was off. When I opened the bag, I found blood-stained maternity clothes and the tiny body of the baby, with her feet sticking out," she explained, still shaken by the discovery. Authorities suspect that the mother, who may have been full-term, gave birth outside of a hospital and chose to wrap the infant’s body in her dress. The baby was then placed inside the rice sack, which was later stuffed into another bag and abandoned. It is believed the parents or whoever left the baby by the roadside fled the scene shortly after the incident, likely during the previous night. Police have initiated an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in hopes of identifying the individual or individuals responsible. Pol. Lt. Kittichai confirmed that the authorities are working diligently to find the mother, stating, "This is a tragic incident, and we will use all available resources to track down those involved." At around 20:30 on September 9, two volunteer rescue workers from the Bang Pakong district in Chachoengsao were having dinner at a roadside eatery when they noticed an unusually long traffic jam. Sensing something was wrong, the pair hopped on their motorcycle to investigate the situation. They soon discovered a big bike that had lost control and crossed the median, resulting in a serious injury to a female rider. The rescuers quickly approached the scene to assist the woman, adjusting her arms and legs into a normal position to properly assess her injuries and notify the command centre for immediate medical support. However, the woman’s husband and a coworker were displeased with the rescuers' actions, expressing their frustration with inappropriate language and behavior, accusing them of inappropriately touching her sexually. Despite the rescuers explaining that they needed to evaluate the woman’s condition to inform the emergency centre, the husband and coworker were not receptive and became increasingly agitated. In a dramatic turn of events, the husband and coworker tried to physically attack the rescuers. Luckily, local residents and civil defense volunteers intervened, managing to calm the situation temporarily. The rescuers explained that they were not in uniform because they had been on their way to eat when they stumbled upon the accident. Upon hearing this, the husband and coworker apologised profusely for the misunderstanding, bowing in respect to the rescuers. The rescuers graciously accepted the apology, understanding that alcohol might have been involved. As the situation seemed to be cooling down, police officers arrived on the scene. However, tensions flared again when six or seven more coworkers of the injured woman appeared, hurling more insults at the rescuers. This escalated the situation, leading to an altercation between the newcomers and the locals who had initially intervened to prevent violence. Seeing the chaos unfold, one of the rescuers, identified only as Ton, feared that the conflict might lead to more injuries. He rushed forward to stop the fight, but was tragically mistaken for one of the locals involved in the brawl. In the confusion, one of the coworkers pulled out a knife and stabbed Ton four times in the back, piercing his lungs twice. Ton was rushed to Bang Pakong Hospital in critical condition before being transferred to Phutthasothon Hospital for further treatment. In a positive update on the morning of September 10., hospital staff reported that Ton was out of danger but remains under close observation. Meanwhile, police are actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspect responsible for the stabbing, who remains at large.
