Picture from responders. A construction worker sustained critical injuries after being shocked by a high-voltage power line while working on a rooftop in Nakhon Sawan’s municipal area. The incident occurred around 15:30, in front of the “Monte” optical shop on Sawankhalok Road. Pol. Lt. Kiattisak Chaikaew of the Nakhon Sawan Police Station responded to the scene, where Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) personnel were already working to cut power to the lines. Rescue teams used a bucket truck to retrieve the victim, identified as Mr. Panumas Khotsuwan, a contracted construction worker. He was found lying on the power lines in a critical condition, with severe burn injuries caused by the electric shock. Rescue teams took approximately 15 minutes to safely remove him from the power lines and transport to Sawanpracharak Hospital for immediate medical treatment. According to the victim’s younger brother who was working alongside him, they were part of a team of four workers hired to extend the rooftop and install a steel frame to support an advertising sign on the commercial building. Mr. Panumas, a welder, secured himself with a safety harness attached to a power pole to prevent falls while working near the edge of the rooftop. While walking along the edge of the roof with his welding rod in hand, the rod accidentally made contact with a high-voltage power line, resulting in the electric shock that throw him onto the wires and left him severely burned. Preliminary investigations revealed that the owner of the optical shop had hired the workers for the rooftop renovation and signage installation. Authorities plan to summon the building owner and other workers for questioning to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident. Mr. Panumas remains in critical condition, reportedly in a coma. The investigation is ongoing to establish liability and prevent similar incidents in the future. -- 2024-11-29

Picture from responders. Police in Don Mueang are investigating the mysterious death of an unidentified man, whose body was discovered covered with banana leaves along the side of a road near Khamphaeng Phet 6 Road. The gruesome discovery was made on the afternoon of November 28 near the flats of the Airports Authority of Thailand in Don Mueang district. Pol. Lt. Col. Thawisak Boonsit of Don Mueang Police Station received the report and, along with senior officers and forensic experts, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. The body was found at the base of a Red Line railway column, labeled 304 AL, in a grassy area about one metre below road level. Items discovered nearby included a blue football jersey, a gray T-shirt, and a black shoulder bag, all stained with blood. A concrete block bearing bloodstains was also found hidden between columns, suspected to be the weapon used in the attack. The deceased, a dark-complexioned, heavyset male, was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts. The victim’s forehead bore a severe wound, consistent with being struck by a blunt object. His body was covered with three banana leaves, likely taken from a nearby banana tree approximately 50 metres away. Mr. Banjong, 57, the first person to find the body, recounted that he was walking from Yaowarat to catch a bus home to Yasothon around 14.00. As he passed the railway columns, he noticed flies swarming around a cluster of banana leaves. Suspecting something unusual, he saw the tip of a human foot sticking out and immediately sought help. He encountered another passerby, Mr. Songdej, 45, and together they confirmed the body before reporting it to Don Mueang Police Station. Pol. Col. Surapong Thamphithak, Deputy Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, stated that the identity of the victim is still unknown, as no identification documents were found. Preliminary forensic evidence points to head trauma as the cause of death, and investigators have collected potential evidence, including the suspected murder weapon, for further analysis. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the murder. -- 2024-11-29

Pictures from responders. A crash occurred on November 28, at approximately 06:50, on Chayangkun Road near Ban Non Nam Thaeng School in Mueang District, Amnat Charoen Province. The collision involved a blue Mazda pickup truck, a motorcycle, and an electric tricycle, resulting in three injuries and two fatalities. The injured victims were identified as: • Mr. Chinnakorn Sopamas, 41, the driver of the pickup truck, residing in Na Chik Subdistrict, Mueang District, Amnat Charoen. • Miss Parinyakorn Wongsawaek, 11, a passenger in the truck and a resident of the same subdistrict. • Master Phupha Sopamas, 10, also a passenger in the truck and from Na Chik Subdistrict. Emergency responders from the Non Nam Thaeng and Phet Kasem rescue teams worked swiftly to free the injured individuals trapped inside the overturned pickup truck. They were transported to Amnat Charoen Hospital for medical treatment, where their conditions are reported as stable. Tragically, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene: • Mr. Heng Kanyamasa, 77, a resident of Non Nam Thaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District. He was driving an electric tricycle when the crash occurred. • Ms. Orawan Promnam, 22, from Kai Kham Subdistrict, Mueang District, who was riding a yellow motorcycle at the time of the collision. Witnesses at the scene reported that the pickup truck driver lost control, possibly due to excessive speed, veering off course, overturned and colliding with a concrete, trapping its three occupants inside. As the truck rolled, it struck the motorcycle and electric tricycle traveling along the road, violently throwing both riders and their vehicles onto the grassy verge beside the road. Rescuers performed CPR on Mr. Heng and Ms. Orawan, but their injuries were too severe, and both were pronounced dead on the spot. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary reports suggest speed and possible driver error as contributing factors, though further analysis will confirm the details. -- 2024-11-29
