  1. August 23, Officials from the Office of Aviation Accident Investigation (AAIC) have reported that 30% of the debris from the aircraft crash in Chachoengsao has been recovered. Mr. Pongthep Sirisawat, a special expert in aviation operations representing the AAIC, stated that the aircraft did not have a black box, like seen in larger commercial aircraft due to its small size and weight, which is below 5,700 kilograms, as per ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) regulations. The recovered box (pictured below) was only an automatic flight data recorder, not a black box, as it only records limited flight parameters. Without a black box, investigators must rely on the analysis of the available limited data and debris to determine the cause of the crash. Mr. Pongthep has requested maintenance records from the plane's owner but noted that no definitive cause has been determined yet, nor whether technical issues were involved. He also called on the public to provide CCTV footage, mobile clips, or aircraft parts if found, as every piece of information is crucial to the investigation. Mr. Pornchai Boonmuang, a maintenance expert from the AAIC, added that all recovered parts will be thoroughly examined along with the maintenance records to uncover the cause of the crash.

  3. The ADS-B data (shown below) is incomplete, as the last 2 - 3 minutes are missing. It is impossible to speculate why that data is not available, but it does seem to indicate that what ever happened was sudden and quickly lead to the impact with the ground. The last recorded altitude, 4900 feet, was the maximum seen during the short flight. All timings are shown in UTC, standard for this type of data.
  4. Thank you for that update. I am seeing lots of reports of incidents this morning, across Phuket, from Thai sources. It is sometimes difficult to identify the locations with both the translation of names and the fact I do not know that part of Thailand. So it is good to get input from posters who know the area.
  5. These two Youtube videos, are, I believe, the aircraft involved in the incident and the private island airport it was heading to.

This aircraft also has one previous incident in 2012; “Cessna 208B HS-SKR, named "Soneva Kiri", suffered a prop strike and nose wheel collapse following overrun on landing on 10/12/2012 at Ko Mai Si, Thailand. Later repaired & returned to Don Mueang 13/7/13” https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/155569

  17. Drone Saves 56-Year-Old Man from Flash Flood in Phayao A drone was used after a flash flood engulfed a man, leaving him stranded in the middle of a field after floodwaters had sweep away his hut. Video in the story. Full story : https://aseannow.com/topic/1336245-drone-saves-56-year-old-man-from-flash-flood-in-phayao/
  18. Picture from responders. August 22, the flood situation in Phayao Province remains critical as heavy rainfall continues, causing flash floods to inundate homes, schools, and agricultural lands across several districts. The powerful floodwaters have swept away structures, including a hut in the middle of a rice field, which was submerged and destroyed by the torrent. In a heart-pounding incident in Pong District, Phayao, a flash flood rapidly engulfed the area, leaving a 56-year-old man stranded in the middle of the floodwaters. The man, a resident of Baan Sae, Moo 6, Khwan Subdistrict, had crossed a stream to collect belongings from under a hut at the edge of the village. However, the sudden surge of floodwater destroyed the hut, sweeping it away, and trapping the man in the middle of a field. Local officials from Khwan Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO) and a team led by Anukul Jamnae and Wichai Kamla responded to the emergency. They ingeniously adapted a large drone, typically used for agricultural purposes, into a rescue drone. The drone was outfitted with a rope and a life jacket, which was flown to the stranded man. After securing the life jacket and tying the rope around himself and to a nearby tree, the man held onto the rope. The team successfully pulled him to safety. Amidst cheers and relief from his family and neighbours , the man was safely brought ashore, thanks to the drone.
