  1. Yes fully agree, that is how they try to maintain their airport monopoly, hence high flight costs. The other airports owned are. Sukhothai Airport and Trat Airport. Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth CEO and President of Bangkok Airways is also the founder and owner of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services.
  2. Sorry but the king is/was qualified to fly the F-5, F-16, and the Boeing 737. His currently has a fleet of 4 aircraft that he uses and sometimes flys.
  3. Yes the airport itself belongs to the airline, but it is then managed by a subsidiary company of Bangkok Airways Public Co Ltd. The airport and airline have different responsibilities at Koh Samui. Many airport functions are also run by subsidiaries. https://investor.bangkokair.com/en/corporate-info/subsidiaries#:~:text=Our Subsidiary and Associated companies&text=BAC Gourmet House Co.%2C Ltd.&text=Bangkok Air Catering Phuket Co.%2C Ltd.&text=Bangkok Air Catering Samui Co.%2C Ltd.&text=Bangkok Air Catering Chiang Mai Co.%2C Ltd.
  4. Yes on the Eva site it seems they have 3 seating layouts on their 777 300ER fleet, and I bet the only information given when booking will be that it is a 777 300ER. So it is pot luck to which you get and then too late to do anything. https://www.evaair.com/en-th/fly-prepare/our-fleets/passenger-airplanes/777-300ER/
  5. Fully agree with your opinions of Koh Samui airport being privately funded and that there seems to be zero chance of a second airport, but I know of no ICOA or FAA regulation that would prevent it. Couple of examples. LaGuardia Airport and JFK Airport are approximately 17.5 Km apart. The distance between Oakland Airport (OAK) and San Francisco Airport (SFO) is 19 Km. Samui is about 25 Km north to south.
  6. Please provide a link to a professional or credible source, that states her plans were sound. I know conspiracy theorists can never accept facts and opinions from people like the Bank of England, IMF or CBI, and can never accept their opinions are wrong. If her plan was so sound, why did see resign after 50 days, and with a large majority government? Have a good day in your alternative reality, and remember try not to let your arrogance overshadow your ignorance https://www.politico.eu/article/imf-urges-truss-to-think-twice-before-going-forward-with-tax-cutting-plan/
  7. Yes fully agree that the rural fire services will be poorly equipped and trained to deal with these types of fire. Also incident command and control, is normally taken over at a political level, hence no real experience of emergency response, so placing extra risks on responders. Another problem, will be volunteer units, who will just turn up and do their own thing, with no consideration of the fire action plan.
  8. Fully agree more needs to be done to prevent these fires. Arson is defined in sections 217 to 225 of the Thai criminal code, and must be against property belonging to someone else. In the UK arson is under the Criminal Damage Act 1971, and land can be classed as property, something I cannot see mentioned in the Thai criminal codes Translation of Thai criminal code. https://www.samuiforsale.com/law-texts/thailand-penal-code.html
  9. The second airport did come up briefly, under the last military government, when the bridge was also proposed. https://thailand-construction.com/build-a-second-airport-for-budget-airlines-is-much-better-than-a-bridge-to-thailands-koh-samui-island/ The airport, I believe, had a designated royal terminal at the Chaweng beech end, specifically for the training you mentioned, developed from the old international/domestic terminals.
  10. Yes we agree, my wording was poor and would have been better to have said monopoly on the airport. Yes I know a few other airlines do fly there, but with their monopoly PG can set high landing fees, hence preventing any real competition, which would help bring prices down. How many times have AOT/ministry of transport proposed a second runway on the island, but nothing seems to happen.
  11. I believe part of the problem is that one airline holds the monopoly for flights. https://kohplanner.com/koh-samui-prices/#:~:text=The reason behind the higher, beautiful airports in the World.
  12. One of the worst PMs ever, and would have lasted less than 50 days, if the Queen had not died. She was useless as a minister, all talk and no substance, but was the darling of the blue rinse tory membership. It was her policies and the way she tried to force them through, that almost collapsed the UK economy, and crying that it was everyone else’s fault, but her own,, just comical genius. I am sure a few conspiracy theorists, out of touch clowns on this forum will be along later to tell us how misunderstood she was, in their alternative reality. The facts of her as PM, “IT took Liz Truss’s Government just under a month to see the value of the pound drop to historic lows, the Bank of England being forced to step in and save pension funds from collapse and an enormous hike in the cost of government borrowing. These are the seven days it took for the Tories to nearly crash Britain’s economy.” https://www.thenational.scot/news/23007757.liz-truss-kwasi-kwarteng-wrecked-uk-economy-seven-days/
  13. Current cost to renew a passport in Bangkok is £127.51. £12.75 a year £1.06 a month. Why do people risk their extension of stay and cause themselves problems and stress, by waiting to the last minute to save less than 50 baht a month?
  14. First to go, but will it make a difference to either their reputation or engineering standards. https://fortune.com/2024/02/21/boeing-737-max-ed-clark-resigns-leadership-management-change/
  15. Fully agree. See I am not the only one that find others annoying.55555 Have a good day.
  16. 166,859 Is the average daily world death rate for 2024, but you think one death in Pattaya is abnormal?
  17. Sorry but how is that proof there were 2 people in the room? Did you even watch the video? Lots of soda bottles present, could mean many different things, really likes soda water, he liked it with his whiskey, he was forgetful, he had poor housekeeping, he had a visitor, etc. Will not stop the AN keyboard Sherlocks’ jumping to a conclusion, and if you can get a bit of Thai bashing, about the police, or the better for their ego. People do die everyday the world over.
  18. Sorry but I did not say anything about open bottles. The video I posted was of the scene, the real image, I posted the video as the AN keyboard Sherlocks were jumping to conclusions from a few words in a news report.
  19. Thai media has shown his room, he had more than a couple of soda bottles around. Video below is censored, but shows the covered body being removed. https://fb.watch/qmvi5h5ALT/?
  20. It was just an extra 1000 baht, got the single re entry the same day as applied for the extension. I was told that the new re entry was needed because the under consideration period can be past the expiry date of current extension. My under consideration date was 2 weeks past expiry of the existing extension, so new single re entry was to that new date. IO at airport thought it funny to stamp me in for only 48 hours.
  21. I had to get a new single re entry for the under consideration period, my existing multi re entry was not valid,
  22. I believe once you apply for the extension, you will need a new re entry permit, the existing one is not valid. Sort with the office about home visit, and yes you are allowed to go during under consideration period, as I have done it last year.
  23. Have you tried the steps recommended by Netflix help centre. https://help.netflix.com/en/node/470
  24. Yes Boeing have some mayor current and ongoing issues, but do you really believe Airbus have never had issues? Couple of examples. https://simpleflying.com/airbus-investigating-unprompted-a350-descents/ https://aviationsourcenews.com/manufacturer/easa-issues-airworthiness-directive-over-airbus-a380-fuselage/ If you want full facts, you can research the EASA airworthiness data base. https://ad.easa.europa.eu/ Or FAA directives https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/airworthiness_directives
  25. Yes fully agree, Boeing have a lot of work to do, to get the company reputation repaired, if it is even possible. This type of incident also gives the media an easy and possibly sensational headline/story. I like this quote from a passenger looking out the window on the 757 200 “there was some panic onboard the plane at first, as passengers saw what had happened to the wing, "but the pilot had come back, looked at it, took some pictures of it, talked to the guys on the ground, said yup, proceed to Denver [they said], shouldn’t be a problem."
